So it's official! All the nominees of Emmys 2017 have been revealed. As expected, a few surprises popped up. Check it out:

Drama Series
-“Better Call Saul” (AMC)
-“The Crown” (Netflix)
-“The Handmaid’s Tale” (Hulu)
-“House of Cards” (Netflix)
-“Stranger Things” (Netflix)
-“This Is Us” (NBC)
-“Westworld” (HBO)

Gotta say, I'm quite thrown that somehow the sub-par HoC managed to sneak it's slimy way into the list. Quickly gratified by the inclusion of the duo, Handmaid's Tale & This Is Us however. Both performed strongly and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them snag the title eventually.

Stranger Things still riding the glamour and hype the first season generated even as we await the 2nd installment later in October.

Seeing Westworld in the list didn't shock me in the least cuz it was a given that the HBO drama would make the list after the first episode aired.
HOC ....sub par? Really A show that keeps getting better like vintage wine?
House of cards suppose collet this one.......the last season was the best of all.....sick AF

- Sneaky Pete (Amazon): Most certainly not what you can call a great crime drama. Some of the acting is dismal, the story premise cliche personified. Still made for an entertaining hour of television however. A con man trying to dupe his way through life is always interesting to watch. 7/10

- Goliath (Amazon): A legal drama. It may have 2 or 3 plot holes the size of the grand canyon and does feel rushed at times, but, Bob Thorton's performance as alcoholic ambulance chaser, Billy McBride is a joy to watch. Everybody loves an underdog. Who wouldn't root for the little man squaring up against a Conglomerate? 7.5/10

Handmaid's Tale (Hulu): Dystopian drama. A typical slow burner with detailed, fine storytelling, this drama is not the sort that will raise your blood pressure. It builds gradually from episode to episode, treating everything in it's path with the same unhurried meticulous grace a sculptor favors his masterpiece. It's truly a great drama in every sense of the word. 8.5/10

Taboo (BBC One & FX): A period drama. Another slow burner and equally as compelling, Tom Hardy excellent acting as the enigma, James Delaney is one of the high points of the drama. He brought the mercurial character to life, and even though he's not a particularly good person (Delaney), you can't help but root for him. 8/10

I remember I once recommended goliath here...billy bobs acting was just top notch, tho I feel the end was a bit rushed...

handmaids tale is what I'm loving currently..the lead actress should b given an Emmy

She was one of the actresses that made FXs "MadMen" a solid show.

Baba, Handmaid's Tale is superb but I love the synergy between Kevin spacey and Robin Wright in interpreting their roles. The acting was exquisite and I hope HOC gets it. That show has kept it's viewers on a perpetual high, raising the bar with each season......maybe it's just me sha... wink

LOL. ......Kevin spacey is an "American loved" actor. The guy is like an unfair advantage in a game. Apart from being an excellent 'veteran' actor,Americans love him.
Much of the acclaim HOC has gotten is due to Kevin Spacey.
I ( and i suspect many others too) fell in love with him in "the usual suspects". grin

For real?? HoC ceased been relevant since season 2. Everything at this point is basically rinse & repeat. The current season really lost me for a multitude of reasons.

- The terrorism storyline lost it's appeal to me somewhat quickly - they employed the same tactics multiple times and, and naturally, it lost it's early intrigue.
- The election was a little drawn out, and Frank been handed the recording of Conway on the plane seemed just too easy.
- Claire becoming too one dimensional like Frank.
- Frank giving away the presidency to Claire seemed out of character - you get the feeling in earlier seasons that he's the sort of guy that would cling to power as long as it takes.
- And most of all, I missed the depth.

Bottom line, the show is a downward rollercoaster that I want to get off from as quickly as possible before I throw up.

She's an accomplished stage actress. So it goes without saying she's very good at what she does.

Comedy Series
-“Atlanta” (FX)
-“Black-ish” (ABC)
-“Master of None” (Netflix)
-“Modern Family” (ABC)
-“Silicon Valley” (HBO)
-“Unbreakable Kimmy
Schmidt” (Netflix)
-“Veep” (HBO)

I'm gonna go ahead and call it right now... Atlanta is gonna snag it.

Looking at the list, no real challenge accept for maybe Silicon Valley(?), all other nominees had poor seasons respectively.

Past-it's-prime Modern Family making the list must be a practical joke. For the life of me, I can't figure out how the family sitcom with all it's stale jokes and gag repetitions managed to achieve that.

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't find Master Of None funny in the slightest. It just doesn't give me that comedy vibe I get from the likes of Veep & SV, rather, I watch it like I would a rather short drama. Still make for an interesting half hour of television, but does it deserved to make the list? I don't think so.

Atlanta has to win ....cos childish gambino is lit

Wow!

I think what the writers were trying to achieve was creating a plausible build-up to the arrest of Mike hence the seriousness. I missed the very humorous dialogues between the characters in the latter seasons too.

I'm pretty sure you'd be among those who would have preferred for them to end it at season 3.

Introducing a love interest into Louis's character was a no-no for me, it kinda dull everything for me.

Even though I missed some characters from then on like "Travis tarner" "Daniel Hardman" I loved the series too much to just stop there.

Well, for house of cards, there were many useless scenes and unnecessary plots the writers occasionally throw in and it makes everything bogus and uninteresting at some point.

Claire sleeping with the photographer, her story about rape, her relationship with Tom - the writer. Franks' gay relationship with another guy.

You sound like someone with a very matured taste of movies.

I no longer do action movies, sci-fi, or other crazy fictitious themed movies, I like series with real life themes like Billions, Power, Suits, House of cards etc. Can you suggest series that are in these categories for me? I'd appreciate it.

Good evening, sir.

Surely some nuggets of truth are contained within the four walls of your judgement. I agree that they probably thought that lending credence to the events building up to Mike's arrest could be effected by causing the series to assume a more serious outfit.

Well, I can't say it did not work, because it did to some extent, except that they pushed the envelope too ambitiously.
When Michael landed in prison, it gave the show some sense of closure, and perhaps even more importantly, it was not without some tiny, moralistic undertones i.e that no one breaks the law–eidetic memory or not; for good intentions or not–and goes scotfree.

The story should have ended there point blank—it's not every Lazarus that ought be resurrected. But, like the over-achieving zealots that they are, they reprised the show, paying no mind to the fact that their ability to give the script bouts of creative turns has long been compromised. It's worth mentioning that this was precisely the bane of Prison Break season 5.

Funnily enough, I received the idea of Louis' love interests with a glad hand. It sort of gave his character a new dimension, and it definitely proved to be elaborate comic relief material.

Can you remember the scene in which Louis recited a love poem that he had composed, and during the course of reading the poem he compared the dynamic of his love for that bespectacled woman (her name eludes me at the moment) to that of Mark Anthony and Cleopatra, and of Jamie and Cersie Lannister?
Do you remember also when Louis proposed on his knees to that same lady in a hospital while being oblivious of his slightly exposed butt? I must say that those were some of the moments when Suits left me giddy with excitement. grin

Since you asked that I recommend some shows, then I'd say you should try watching “Sherlock”, “How To Get Away With Murder”, “The Mentalist”, “Designated Survivor”, “Hannibal”, and “Rome”..

While these shows might possess some of those “action elements” which you do not wish to humour for the time being, I believe they'd still make for a worthwhile experience.
