FIRST NIGERIAN MADE CAR IN 1997 - WIKIPEDIA
Izuogu Z-600
The Izuogu Z-600 prototype was the first indigenous Nigerian car, and the first automobile of indigenous all-African technology. It was the brainchild of engineer Ezekiel Izuogu. Launched in 1997, the car caused a stir in the Nigerian media, and was touted by the then Nigerian chief of Staff General Oladipo Diya.

The prototype was equipped with a self made 1.8L four cylinder engine that got 18mpg and allowed the car to achieve a top speed of 140 km/h (86 mph). Front Wheel Drive (FWD) was chosen over Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) because a transmission tunnel, which RWD would require, would be more expensive to fabricate. 90% of the car's components were made locally.
The design of the car was very utilitarian resembling a Renault 4 with its upright stance and a front end that resembles the locally assembled Peugeot 504.
To be priced at $2000 it would have been the cheapest car in the world. Clever features like a door bell used in place of a horn ensure it achieves its low price target. Mass production was planned under Izuogu motors located in Naze, Imo state, but too many financial and political hurdles prevented the car from proceeding past the prototype stage.

Nigeria: Izuogu Invents New Tool to End Energy Crisis

The new invention will offer uninterrupted power supply at no cost, says the inventor.
This was the view expressed by most of those who attended an investor's dinner in Abuja where the invention was presented and demonstrated.
The invention called Self-Sustaining Emagnetodynamics Machine, according to the inventor, Izuogu, was made possible after over 30 years of research and work.
Already, the machine has received patents from 104 countries and is recognized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Presenting it to the investors at the dinner which included former Vice-President Alex Ekwueme, Senator Osita Izunaso, Gen. Chris Garuba (Rtd), Alhaji Alani Bankole, Prof Peter Onwualu who is Director-General of Raw Material Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Izuogu said the machine is capable of generating as much megawatt of electricity as could power Nigeria.
"We are here today to announce to you that this machine can give uninterruptible electricity power supply to our nation and because it uses no input energy to operate, government can indeed make Nigerians pay nothing for electricity."

About 30 years ago, According to legend, the first Nollywood movie was made by a small-time electronics trader named Kenneth Nnebue, who, stuck with a large shipment of blank videotapes, decided to unload them by making a movie about a man who sells his soul for wealth. That movie, “Living in Bondage,” sold hundreds of thousands of copies and established Nollywood’s archetypal plot elements: martial discord, greed, a conflict between Christianity and juju, as the occult is called in West Africa. From these accidental origins, a cultural phenomenon emerged.
Other merchants, overwhelmingly members of Nnebue’s ethnic group, the Igbo, followed him into business. They literally made things up as they went, shooting movies in just a few days, based on vague scenarios instead of scripts. Directors approximated tracking shots by pushing their cameramen around in wheelchairs. Quality was shaky, but the buying public didn’t care. Between 1994 and 2005, production in Nigeria went from a handful of feature movies a year to more than 2,500.
Kenneth Nnebue quit Nollywood a few years ago, retiring to his village to devote his life to preaching the Bible. But the industry he established remains tightly controlled by the same group of Igbo businessmen, an insular guild sometimes called the Alaba cartel.
