Show of strength? Lol... Unless you come up with 4 stealth frigates, 3 Submarines then you're welcome... Till then we'll let you pass maybe Madagascar would be threatened. grin

Your subs are not stealthy in design. You'll find it extremely hard to detect a s non stealthy ship taking precautions.

We have two OPV already. If NN was going to be ambitious like Algeria, I'll say fit in those vessel with SONAR.
Submarine, they said one and a multipurpose frigate means we're getting a well armed ship. As long as you're looking for us, a quiet vessel on high alert will find you.

It's obvious you are highly likely to detect the surface vessel first .

About the Submarine, it doesn't make sense having a single sub so I'm sure there's plan for more. This money isn't from the navy budget but a special funding so NN should compliment whatever hardware she needs with her own share of the national cake.

You might want to do some editing.

47 years of submarine experience... 4+ years would be 51 = over half a century.... The gap is widening for you.

So you think we started operating Submarines recently, we have more than half a century headstart provided you just got submarines today which you obviously don't.

So shame me on how you could defeat our fleet, I'll show you how half our fleet could defeat your current and future ordered fleet. Go on, I'm all yours smiley

First the SADF is not the SANDF, far from it. Secondly Submarines are prey (very important you understand that) and yours are not Nuclear powered an even greater disadvantage. And what is half your fleet? Your entire active fleet is smaller than the Nigerian Navy. Methinks first you don't know this or you downplay it's efficacy in Total War: Nigeria invests in infrastructure that makes sense and gives it advantage. You don't have that capability. Only Nigeria has it in the entire Africa. We know the position of your ships and potentially your subs even before we sail. You don't stand a chance.

When you start operating sonar doesn't mean. We're not new at operating surface ships either. We go silent, you go active sonar or whatever, your location goes off looking for us. It all boils down to the captain and his crew.

Against a Kilo sub or something very quiet we have reasons to have little fear while going against a sub with a surface ship but against the heroin class nah. We've got nothing to fear.

Going quiet means you won't be. able to do much diffrentiating us from other vessels. ... Battery low will continue later

Like I said u're welcome. We all know you love to draw blood. Thing is just maybe you do sink a ship or two, it is the reality of war but we will still land on your shores. But there won't be war not gonna happen but Proxy war you bet some of us been itching to pull a curtain on SA' grandstanding and I mean in real combat. Bangui was just a teaser using kid rebels.

Land on our shores via Home Affairs, that's the only way you will as a Nigerian.... As for the military invasion, I'd love to see you try, it would be so entertaining to see Nigerians cry for hundreds of sailors who sank..... "Mamaweeeee" I already hear your ladies. grin

Question is not if you've got subs, the point is how many active subs at a given time. Anothwr point is, can you find the arming of your subs to effectively take on the ship's with the cash crunch going on in SA. Next one is can you afford to shoot at a Nigerian vessel without thinking twice about it.

Let's take this to the technical thread, not on the picture thread

94, what changed with the SADF was nothing but the uniform and the "N"... Same gear until 2006. The current leadership grew from the old SADF, all members of the ANC MK had to undergo SADF military tactics before integration.... All military doctrines since the days of the Union Defence Forces till jungle warfare are taught. The current armour crew knows all about the UDF tactics deployed against the Italians to the recent ones against the Cubans in Angola etc.

As for you having infrastructure we don't, I won't even go there because it's just imagination playing thick tricks on you.

Again, explain to me how your NN will shame 4 stealth frigates and 3 submarines?

He's feeling like they have a nuclear submarine. Their sub can only stay submerged for 400nmi which is just enough to come out of their EEZ and back. Our Chinese OPVs have radars that can see the sub charging dead batteries around 250km away.

Maybe he needs more education on why you called it prey to surface ships.

Naaah, I won't go the official route here.

Me and you know that you won't directly send a provocative fleet in our waters unless you mean war which our boys are trained for.

See, South Africa killed Cuban troops in Angola in large numbers but they never attempted to ask for the Soviets to bring a fleet down south despite them taking body bags back to Cuba every other month.... They obviously knew something you don't.

You mean you're bringing a whole 4 frigates and 3 submarines to the show?

As the CO, I'll pull your stealth out of you by searching for you wiith a UAV, once you launch at the UAV, your coordinates stays and we plan the next big thing on your frigates.

Our JF17 can also deliver ashw missiles.

Moreover who will be protecting the rest of your waters since you need 3 subs and 4 frigates to defeat NN grin

Why do things often degenerate into competition btw SA and Nigeria whenever Nigeria get something new, or about to? This is childish.

Obviously you know who's fault it is, I mean the news of Nigeria getting the SSV came from the same source as that of Senegal, Gabon etc but only Nigeria's purchase is being questioned and drilled, now tell me that kind of one sided bullshitt is that !

First they complained Nigeria is in a recession... ehm not your forking business is it ?

Recession doesn't mean you ignore your security needs does it ??

Then they raised a second issue with the reason and "logic" behind the purchase/interest.

Guys grow up.

*Yawn

So you think a navy that has operated a fleet of submarines for 47 years would not know what to do with that? Ever heard of doctrines where you develop efficiencies with the equipment you use? So you think we don't know about the strengths and weaknesses of electric diesel submarines? Then develop doctrines around it? We don't have one of the best military academy in the world for jokes.

NB: The Cubans had installed radar in Angola that covered the whole country and half of Namibia... The SAAF still bombed, in fact we even flew Pumas while the feared SA-7 missiles took guard. Then we went on capturing a mobile missile system that the US and Israelis begged the SADF to have.... Then you talk about your 2 Chinese patrol boats.

But you're aware that killing Cuban troops came with serious consequences right? But we bombed them, fired at them, took their systems and even sank a Soviet supply ship.

Nigeria would be target practice as if they came south chanting war tunes.

The SSV will be operating with another asset when on deployment. With its capability to carry three helos, the other asset most likely a well armed OPV will carry a helo. That's 4 helos already.
Yes for sure for a good amphibious cap we need air, land sea support.
I am very happy that we have these kind of leaders for the army navy air force; they are doing the work.

This your potopoto. Nigeria will be a target practice etc with what? Even US having a larger military compared to China can't call the Chinese a target practice talk less of a country shaking already after news of our incoming orders.

We just wanted you to know Nigeria can start procurement process from bottom to top instead of top to bottom.

We dont brag

You are exactly the symbol of SA overestimating itself and failing at every turn. Your patriotism blinds sense and reality and clearly youth exuberance is evident here.

Pls stop equating the SADF with the SANDF. Your Boer colonizer Army is better than what obtains today in SA and they still lost the war to Angola, those are the records and your shouting on Nairaland won't change it.

Which best military academy? You don't! Your present day SANDF is filled with ineptitude and is obvious. You don't even have NCOs to talk of a real Officer Corp which is why your military is poorly led. Your military leadership is based on Political patronage and not competence. This incompetence is clear in your military priorities. While you were busy buying shiny toys for grandstanding we were busy building infrastructure that would tear them to smithereens. That's what sound military strategy teaches you: to seize/have the initiative from/over your enemy. Go back to the basics first before utopian goals. Pls calm down. You are lucky Zimbabwe don't have territorial ambitions as they have better officer entry academy and Nigeria helped them do that and they have proven capable in combat.

SA has not won one modern combat engagement and you are here shouting from the roof tops. Your illogical combat tactics amuses me.

Your submarines are essentially mines in the Sea and we will hunt them down, that's what Navies do. There's a reason subs are built to be quiet as much as possible or better still nuclear powered to increase it's chances of survival and Nations go to great lengths to classify their positions. Still it is a prey for Surface Warships.

NNS Centenary and Unity have guidance systems and sensors to defend itself and offensive action. And Nigeria is not coming to your waters with two OPVs. It is coming with an integrated Armada larger than your entire military that would make you regret pointing the finger at us in the first place.

Remember , the jf17 delivery news is still a shock to him, you want to give him hypertension with this too ni?

No, the delivery does very little to shift the balance of power.

The delivery also does very little to create some sort of expeditionary capability, unless there is an order for AA nodes that we don't know about
