You really did well, most left handed people are forced to change or discriminated against but if you like you could also teach him to use both hands cos it would enable him utilise the 2 brain hemispheres which means he'll be smarter and wiser.

I don't think I'll ever forget the day my Arts teacher gave me a dirty slap for shaking him with my left hand. Have since adjusted to greeting and eating with my right, but every other thing I use my left hand.

Mama used to tie my left hand when I was small. I can do all things with my left (except writing, my left hand writes slower).

Growing up using left hand wasn't easy at first,my mum did all she could to stop me, I remember when I feel down at age 6 then,that they doctor had to bandage my left arm down to wrist,mum was kind of relief that hope she switched to right, but whooops, it never worked, even as painful as my arm was then,..i was still writing with it....

Proudly Lefty and a Lefty Activist, if I may. The very absurd and obnoxious stereotypes left-handedness has been attached to were based on lies and fables only. So I am often flummoxed when I see people trying to change lefty kids based on nothingness as they can't even give logical reasons original to them but say only things they've heard others say.

Anyway, like most lefty kids, I was coerced into using right hand as a child but it didn't take. It cost me backwardness and retardation that it took almost a year for my teacher and parents to give up and leave me to my southpaw.

So, to parents of lefties out there, please let that child be and don't change them. If the left hand is that sinister, please cut your left hand off first as proof before changing that kid. And don't say what my dad said when he discovered I was lefty: "Left? Who is he taking after? No one in my family or ancestry used left." Well, maybe Adam and Abraham did, who knows?

When I asked her 'why?' she told me it was just wrong to use left hand dominantly - same old stereotype nonsense. That's a "new-generational" would-be parent if she's yet unmarried.

I am left handed,or should I say I was left handed,because now I am ambidextrous .When I was in primary 2 or 3 my school aunty told my parents that my left handedness was 'slowing me down' and that my writing was awful.

That was it,that night my Aunty took it upon herself to teach me how to write and eat with write,this went on for weeks.She and my parents were recording little success as I would involuntary write and eat with left hand.

One day a family member came and suggested that they should 'give me wound' on my left hand,that he used the same strategy for his son.I was deliberately cut with a razor on my left thumb(the scar still remains after more than two decades),I started using right to write and eat up till now I am still using right.

My Aunt is late now,I forgave her long ago,my parents are caring but I always wondered why they treated me that way.

Now the only two things I can do with my right are eating and writing.Lastly,I dont know if it hereditary two of my maternal Uncles are left handed.
