PUNCH Metro learnt that the Idowu family comprised four children – Kunle , Kolawole, Adeniyi and a younger sister who is in the United States. Adeniyi, who studied in the Cyprus University , got a job in Dubai where he is now based. What has this got to do with the story 1 Like |

This write up leaves one with so many questions. Why was the grandmother insisting on keeping him their when the decreased complain of not wanting to go back? A case of conspiracy I guess? Was their something she knew that no one else except the doctor knows? On a good day o, if you are a real parent and the life of your child is involved you won't want to trade it for anything, even if it means trying several options. Also If the patient didn't die immediately at LASUTH why did it take them so long to conduct their own test to be perfectly sure the case was what it was said to be? A failed nation where the life of its citizenry means nothing. This is purely a case of a careless family who needed to sacrifice the life of an innocent boy. If they had spend that much then money was not the problem but stupidity made them lose a dear soul. RIP son shit happen when the ones we love are the architect of our misfortune. As for the doctors who keeps every patient as practical with no regard for their lives keep at it God is watching you, one day you and your generation will pay dearly. For doctors who'll rather save a live your days of reward are so close. RIP |

This is sad..... sooo many of our doctors are vultures and medical institutions leeches. Some of us learned this the hard way while we were trying to get them to save the life of our fellow Nairalander DJOLA.... who passed in January 2015. Maybe I'm different.... but for the doctor to get the nerve to show up at the family house to apologize? .....search parties would've still been out looking for him. |

In this scenario, blame goes to expertise, not the facilities....if facilities must be blamed, it should. be that with whichthe first Dr was trained with. A complete Physical Examination would have given the first Dr some clue of the possible differential diagnosis of Neurologic etiology eventhough no one is competely infalible of error in diagnosis, from all these explanations, i guess the 1st Dr involved was a bit complacent by ignoring the NEUROLOGIC aspect Physical Examination from the outset. LASUTH should be exenorated, Nuchal rigidity which was later discovered by the experienced hands in LASUTH is a notorious alarm feature in Medicine that points towards possible meningitis or meningoencephalitis as the case maybe...once again, this would hv been found out earlier on if only ordinary 10 minutes neurologic exam was done from the outset. patient also manifested seizure, another alarm feature for neurologic cases( meningitisi) for an observant practitioner. RIP to the dead! 2 Likes |

dre11: I never saw anywhere it was mentioned that tests were done to ascertain what was the underlying factor for the illness. All I saw were suggestive medication. Who on earth prescribes and administers Haldol without first conducting some tests. Haldol is extremely deadly when wrongly administered and it EASILY interacts adversely with other medication so is only given under specialised observation. This is the result of medical negligence. The entire unit that did this should be shut down and aggressively probed. Surely this victim would not be the only case of medical negligence on record there. 1 Like |
