the level of godfatherism in the country is no longer news but the level at which it has affected the nigerian airforce is alarming. You can imagine a situation whereby the NAF advertised for DSSC enlistment into some specialities with the minimum requirements as a second class upper for B.sc and Upper credit for HND, yet personnels of other ranks who happen to meet the requirements with postgraduate degrees/ other professional qualifications are not considered. Rather, some applicants with second class lower, third class, lower credit and no higher qualifications were considered. It is so sad that godfatherism has truncated the smooth sail in career of most of these young soldiers. Imagine a young soldier not up to 35years of age with a B.sc in Nursing and a postbasic qualification in same field yet not considered. Imagine a soldier with a degree in accounting, ANAN and ICAN certifications as well yet not considered. Tomorrow what we see is a graduate with a first degree certificate only and with a second class lower or third class grade, being considered and commissioned, all because he/she has a godfather (political connections). It's so sad and disheartening. The welfare and careers of young serving soldiers should be considered. Plz moderator help put this on
