iekene: Final I am leaving laghos today but had to report to the bank as instructed yesterday . After spending about an hour in the very annoying Lagos hold up. I got to the bank at about 8:30. The girl who asked me to come yesterday seemed surprise and that made me surprised. .. She said you are here for PTA I said yes. She said she told me to come back in 10 days time ... I was like what. That's when I changed my accent and increased my voice ... started blowing grammar.. she told me to be here today and after the hold up am here . You are telling me 10 days time .. For what ? The guy beside her tried to pacify me. I wasn't given in to that. You can set an appointment and change it over night without informing the other party. They then told me I had to wait till 9:30 when the list would be out. I was like fine I would wait. Left angrily to get a seat while admiring how well I acted. Few minutes later the bank guy came up to me and said they won't be able to pay me now cause they have just 1 dollar notes . I knew this wasn't true but I was getting late to get a bus out of Lagos. I told him I have a dollar account he should make a transfer then. He obliged and they gave me a form A, a deposit slip and a blank paper to write a letter of authorization. After minutes running into an hour, he asked for my passport stamped it and wrote some things which I haven't checked. I was immediately debited of 1,440,000 NGN and credited $4000. Advice: Don't let those incompetent (most of them are) Nigerian bank staff ride on you. Know your rights and demand for it.. I left the bank 10am.. Have a great Day... 24 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello People, Please if i pay the sevis fee today how soon can i get to have a visa appointment? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by gaviria: 10:51am On Jul 21, 2017 |
djpope:Sevis fee doesn't determine appointment date, you can book an appointment now, but the thing is you have to pay your sevis fee before the date you choose for your interview on the appointment. 2 Likes |

iekene: Thanks for sharing GTB is not serious ooo. This means its a rate of 360 naira to 1dollar . That almost black market rate ....no? Then there is no much value on doing PTA . Someone can as well buy from blackmarket. The only value i see here is maybe you are more guaranteed of authentic dollars but who really knows... I was under the impression PTA is more inline with offical rate ? (around 305 range ) 2 Likes |

djpope: Appointment booking isn't tied to sevis fee payment. You can book an appointment before making sevis payment. Just be sure that the payment has gone thru and would reflect on the chosen date of your interview. It usually takes 2 days for the payment to reflect ( not entirely sure about this tho) What really determines how soon you can get interview date is the number of available slots. Slots are filling up quickly and I'll urge you to be fast about it. 1 Like |

LagosismyHome: I've been wondering why people go to banks when black market sells at the same rate. But yeah, authenticity of the American dollar is a good reason sha. |

LagosismyHome:No, 360 is the rate recommended by CBN to Banks to sell FOREX for PTA and Form A. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/breaking-cbn-introduces-new-fx-rates/ Thank you. |

towbaynah: To me, N360 isn't worth the stress and bank iyanga. I was expecting N305. Do these banks even know the meaning and significance of PTA? For someone that wants just $2k or less, the difference is just 10k and less. Hence, for someone in the east or far west, going to lag for PTA is not cost effective at all. Even those in Lagos, how many have 14 days before their departure time from now? Then the 10 days wait after you apply? That's almost a month from now. And at the end what they intend to give is 360/$. This is nonsense. How dare they behave like this? And they will tell CBN that they have helped many students with dollars at CBN rates and asked for reimbursement. This is just business for them, no form of support for Nigerian students. Other banks do not even promise anything at all. The finance arm of our government doesn't care. Naija patriotism is simply by grace jare 2 Likes |

jeebz: Really? So importers of products we are trying hard to produce here so as to help indigenous producers and diversify our economy get the 305 rate, while students that are going to gain expert knowledge in order to build the economy and add more value get the inflated rate? Our priorities are just awesome. This flagrant lack of respect for education in this country is her greatest undoing. |

LagosismyHome:Well that was the intention in the first place to reduce the disparity between the Parallel Market and the Bank Rates. Although, I think Form M for those who wanna import is less than 360. |
