The guy is pained that YORUBA is progressing upward and forward! YORUBAS have bursted the lies of IGBOS of being most industrious in Nigeria. Chaii...even the northern people are more industrious than this noise making IGBOs ... YORUBAS I salute una oooo

Igbo industry starts and ends with setting up a 2x2 shop where he retails mostly imported and substandard merchandise. If an igboman tells you that you are not hardworking, what he actually means is that until you and your ethnicity also decide to become a race of nomadic 2x2 shop owners, then you don't know the meaning of hard work. But unfortunately for them, some of us are more ambitious in life. In fact, Yoruba men would rather leave the rudiments of the igbo kind of trading to their women/wives (na we dey open shops for our wives, rather than being the ones sitting in the shop to sell market), while they (Yoruba men) challenge their minds with more ambitious pursuits.

No matter how educated they are, at some point they always go back to trading in their signature 2x2 shops to sell substandard imported goods. The overwhelming majority of them that live and earn a living outside their region are involved in one form of trading or another because that's what they're good at. You will hardly find them in skilled labour because they prefer to be in their shops. They will rather embrace drug-trafficking if trading fails to bring them riches than become skilled welders, electricians, mechanics, tailors, and the likes.

Be it in Kano, in Kaduna, in Gombe, in Lagos, wherever you find them in their numbers they are most engaged in trading. Which isn't bad of itself except that in their twisted minds, they would have us believe that entrepreneurship starts and ends with being a trader.

That's nonsense because what we have been witnessing throughout this thread is the true definition of Entrepreneurship and Industry. Yorubas are the TRUE entrepreneurs of Nigeria. They are the ones oiling the engine of the organized private sector. They are versatile and can be found in every sector of the economy, providing leadership, innovation, and cutting edge solutions. Yet they are not noisemakers. That right there is TRUE Entrepreneurship.

Osisikanwu robbed only Igbos
Vampire robbed and kidnapped only Igbos
Evans Kidnapped only Igbos

Every January, you should see how Igbos run away from Igboland as if there is a war going on there.

It's only Igbos I know that require armed Mopol protection before they enter their own fathers' compounds.

Even at that, they specifically request for Middle belt, Hausa or Yoruba Mobile policemen. You won't see an Igbo man with his Mopol escort being an Igbo man. You'll hear them say stuff like 'I don't want an Mbaise man holding a gun near me'.

Info about Paystack is available on page 142 of this thread, sir.

deomello:
Nigerian Fintech Startup Paystack Raises $1.3 Million

Paystack, one of Nigeria's most hotly anticipated tech start-ups, has just secured $1.3M Seed investment from both international and homegrown investors. The investors include Tencent, Comcast Ventures and Singularity Investments, with participation from Spark, M&S Partners, Tokyo Founders Fund, Blue Rinc Capital, Pave Investments, KIBS-CFY Partners, Michael Siebel, Justin Kan, Olumide Soyombo, Leonard Stiegeler and a number of Angels.

Paystack co-founders, Ezra Olubi and Shola Akinlade
The company, founded by Shola Akinlade and Ezra Olubi, initially caught the eye of industry commentators as it was one the first Nigerian tech company to be accepted into the world-famous Y Combinator progam, based in Silicon Valley. Since then, having taken Paystack through Private beta, and securing $120,000 early-stage investment from Y Combinator, Akinlade [CEO] and Olubi [CTO] have quietly been building the company, working to secure this Seed investment round, whilst also building a network of partner merchants in Nigeria, over 1,500, who are now using the platform to accept online payments.

I spoke to Paystack's CEO, Shola Akinlade, to find out how the company is working to fix Nigeria's fragmented online payments system.

Olatokunbo Adenike Fagbemi is not just the Executive Director, SpringFountain Infrastructure Limited, she is also the Managing Director of African Aircraft Leasing Company (AALC). Her company plans to invest about $20 billion USD in an aircraft leasing facility, in Nigeria.

That facility would also include a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre that covers spares, logistics and parts supply, as well as aggregated services solutions.

The proposed investment will enable indigenous airlines lease aircraft at cheaper rate, without the present cumbersome processes.

In order to achieve this, she has partnered with Boeing Corporation of the United States, a leading aircraft manufacturer. If the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility comes on stream, Nigeria would save $500 million (about N190 billion) annually, which private airlines in West Africa spend conducting aircraft maintenance checks abroad. It would also create an estimated 10,000 jobs locally.

Tokunbo Fagbemi has always been a passionate believer in the Aviation Industry. She is the first Nigerian to be fully accredited as a chartered International Airport Consultant. After studying Pharmacy at undergraduate level, she acquired an MBA from the University of Nevarra, Spain. She also attended prestigious schools such as Lagos Business School (LBS), Cranfield University (UK) and Harvard University before she undertook the Nigeria Infrastructure program to become a certified aviation consultant.

Some years back, a company known as Maevis (jointly owned by Tokunbo and her husband Babatunde), was granted a concessionaire agreement, to automate and manage the internal revenue collection of the nation's major international airports, under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) scheme.

The deal, signed on October 31, 2007 with FAAN, was for the acquisition, installation, operation and management of an Integrated Airport Operation Management System (AOMS), Common User Self-Service System (CUSS), Flight Information Display System (FIDS), Airport Pricing and Billing System, a proactive revenue management system and an Electronic Payment Gateway System.

The Agreement covered the nation's four major Airports, namely: Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja; Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja; Port-Harcourt International Airport, Port-Harcourt, and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano. https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/87065/faan-maevis-agreement-the-truth-of-the-matter.html

Despite Maevis investing over 4 billion naira in the project to install equipment, platforms etc., that deal was abruptly terminated by the former Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Ada Oduah in 2011, even though the concessionary agreement was expected to run for 10 years.

The courts awarded judgement to the tune of 5 billion in favour of Maevis, and ruled that the warring parties (i.e. FAAN and Maevis) should maintain status quo, or head for arbitration to resolve the matter. The matter is yet to be resolved, satisfactorily.

But Fagbemi has not lost hope, and remains undaunted in the face of all obstacles. As she puts all hands on deck to execute this deal with Boeing, her company is set to become the biggest transport infrastructure company, on the coast of West Africa.

During the agreement signing ceremony recently in Lagos between Boeing and SpringFountain Infrastructure, Fagbemi said the aircraft leasing facility that would be established in Nigeria would be the first in Africa, and would create a robust window for Nigerian operators to access 200 Boeing aircraft in the next 20 years.

Fagbemi said currently, there is an estimated 19 million passenger traffic per annum, which is projected to rise to over 44 million in the next 20 years, meaning that Nigerian airlines would make more demand on aircraft to be able to meet the rising demand.

“If Nigeria is to have 44 million passenger departures per annum, it will require over 100 aircraft to meet this propensity to travel, so Nigerian airlines will need more aircraft. To boost its international, including intercontinental flight potential, the airlines have to improve in both the quality and quantity of the aircraft. In addition, the aircraft have to be brand new to be at par with their competitors within Africa at the least”, she said. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/06/09/firm-to-invest-20bn-in-aircraft-leasing-facility-in-nigeria/

Fatai Folarin takes helm as Deloitte West Africa CEO

June 1, 2016 - Deloitte Africa has appointed Fatai Folarin as the new Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Nigeria and Deloitte West Africa Regional Leader from 1 June 2016 as it continues to focus on driving Africa’s regional growth potential.

Deloitte Africa CEO Lwazi Bam says “Fatai’s extensive history of leadership, coupled with his experience advising multinational clients looking to establish themselves in the West Africa market makes him an ideal person for this role. I look forward to working closely with him to continue to ensure that Deloitte West Africa makes a positive, enduring impact for all stakeholders, including Deloitte clients, its people, and society.”

Folarin’s priorities will include applying leading technology to serve clients across the Deloitte core businesses in West Africa of audit, tax, consulting, risk advisory and corporate finance services, while building on a distinct experience that engenders trust with clients and attracts and inspires talent. Folarin’s appointment harnesses the existing business advantages the firm already offers across the continent, while adding significantly to its ability to deliver tailored solutions to businesses in a region which has its own complex challenges.

Folarin, with his more than 26 years of professional services experience, continues to serve as the Tax Leader of the practice, serving several of Deloitte West Africa’s most prominent clients. Prior to his role of Deputy CEO of Deloitte West Africa, which he assumed on 1 December 2015, he led Deloitte West Africa’s tax practice, managing various international and national engagements involving technology, media and telecommunication companies, oil and gas companies and companies in the consumer business industry. He is an alumnus of The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Nigeria (CITN).

“I feel extremely honoured to take on this leadership role in Deloitte at such an exciting time for our profession. The requirements of Deloitte’s clients, people, regulators and other stakeholders are constantly changing and I know that Deloitte in West Africa is best placed to help our stakeholders with these changes in meaningful ways which will benefit them for years to come,” says Folarin.
