The Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development says it would invest N2.5 billion in development finance institutions (DFIs) as a pilot project to support small-scale miners to transit into more established miners. |

I notice Kayode Bragging about Nigeria has best policy in world yet the industry is growing at marginal rate. Do investors want to pile into Nigeria if they aren't sure about forex policy and repatriation of profits. Discouraging raw mineral exports is good. Why should Nigeria settle for being at bottom of value chain if we can do better. It's good he's EIA report seriously so we don't have new issues that will spiral into more militancy. |

mikolo80: I think they already have money for the fund. I don't know how well it would work though. The big thing the federal government needs to do is do the geological data. The two big things I noticed from thus year was simang group coal power and Ondo getting bitumen exploration license. ngona: Maybe if these illegal miners even take advantage of these opportunity. I know it's governments policy for then to form co-ops aswell. Then they want big companies mining giants to come explore stategic minerals. |
