Every Monday morning, the company I work with holds a meeting. Before the meeting starts, the Manager appoints someone to pray.
As an atheist, if you're called upon to pray, what would be your response? Considering how sensitive the topic of Religion is, especially in Nigeria. And also considering the fact that not everyone is open minded.

What would be your response?

I sugest you quit the Job beacause the God you don't believe exist is thesame that established the company and they are acknowledging him and giving him the glory for the continuation of it.

I go first start by telling them the meaning of atheist, That it is a person that don't believe that dey is God or gods... Then wait for the next move coming from the boss

They are confused folks who think rejecting the rationality of a superior being would make them be considered as superior thinkers.

In a workplace, they should not be let to participate in any Spiritual deliberation before their godlessness brings the organization down.

Deep down even the atheist believe in something. They know there's a God but the arrogance of their human intelligence is their curse.

if your boss is not liberal or does not show liberal tendencies in matters of religion,
or your workplace does not have both Christians and Muslim's,
please atheists /irreligious humans like myself, pretend to be a Christian or whichever religion your boss is, till you become your own boss like oga seun.

All my colleagues at work know I'm an atheist. Even my immediate boss knows. Sometimes, I try to prove the implausibility of a "God" to them but their minds seem made up. Gullible primates!

OP, anytime you are called upon to lead them in that fuckin' charade called prayer, simply shake your head in discordance. And if they insist, tell them point blank that you are an atheist.

I once lost a job opportunity 'cos I told the MD I was an atheist when asked of my religion.

Lol... this is the problem with you guys. You're always quick to anger. You don't shout to win arguments, you use facts/points that's why atheists always win you.

Atheists own companies and employ people too. They don't force their staff not to pray so i don't see why an atheist will be forced to pray if the boss is a theist. Live and let live, no need judging atheists, allow your god to do his job.

It's nothing. I will just recite what others are saying before. Some people ask me how I sing Christian songs when I say there's no God and I tell them, singing it doesn't make God to exist moreover music is the food of the soul.

I am religious, but I would firmly refuse if called upon to pray in that way. I simply would tell them to pick someone else. I never even joined the prayer group. If they know your worth, they will overlook it. If they do not appreciate your worth, then you should not be working there in the first place. Tell them that you do not want to pray, simple.
