Hello Unfelt - Assuming your visa has not expired, you may attempt to use it to give birth in the US. However, be aware that Customs and Border Protection, who interviews travelers at ports of entry, has refused entry to some mothers in your situation because the notes taken by the VO do not discuss the pregnancy and CBP thinks that you were lying about your intended purpose of travel. I would recommend that you apply for a new visa so that it can be documented throughout the file. This minimizes the chances that you fly all the way to America only to be turned away at the airport. Thank you so much, i was thinking it would be better to write a letter to the embassy instead as opposed to applying for a whole new visa, i got my Visa in March 2016 and i am not even 3months pregnant yet, i have been reading the thread and most people in my situation just wrote the letter.... Honestly, I don't think you need to reapply, do send a letter of change of intent (though that has been over flogged). If there is a clear difference between the day you were granted a visa and when you took in then you should be fine, also I hope you have a genuine reason for not travelling before now, just endeavour you travel with your Dr's correspondence, part payment of bills if possible and enough money to show you can settle remaining bills. I beg nothing is cast on stone. Be confident but not cocky and above all pray for God's favour. All the best! Unfelt: |

Good day mamas. Sure our missionary journey have been smooth. I've been reading success stories here..God is still doing it for us on this thread, glory to Him. Mine was made possible through the help I got here too. I came into US about a month ago, and I wish I know other name to call JFK POE than BREEZE!! NO HASSLE AT ALL!!. NOTE: I wasn't pregnant o, just came in for VAC with hubby and baby. Flew Turkish Airline and had 5hrs layover...then I MISPLACED MY PHONE AT THE ISTANBUL AIRPORT. The phone has been found but I NEED HELP to bring it here biko. Courier services want to cut my neck, so any mama coming to the US through Istanbul this month or next PLEASE HELP ME O! I have vital docs on it abeg. (Baby's info too). God bless you as you help a sister in need. Safe landing and delivery to us all. And am still here too in case you need errand babe |

Newyork is quite high, had my daughter there. It was CS and my bill ran up to almost $30k. Got a discounted rate cos it was self pay and I still had about $20k. Had a friend who went to New Jersey and she spent a little over 10k. All the best. podada: 1 Like |

Not in all circumstances. Our personal experience was different. You just have to be convincing and ensure all bills were paid at the time of childbirth. Babatwi: |

Ok i promised to share for those that dread Houston Poe just to give you another view...Its not always as nasty as we all think..Atleast not all the time though.... Flew Turkish from Abuja at 35 weeks, I was sent to port health to get a fit to fly.I paid 2000 naira for the port-health report. The trip from Abuja to Turkey was ok..I wasn't so stressed.Had a 5 hour layover at Istanbul and i practically just got a waiting bench and slept most of the time.At check in at Istanbul for the Houston leg of the trip, I wasn't asked anything..no CBP officer asked me anything..I just boarded like every other person.the trip to Houston was long i must say...i watched movies, slept, woke up and we were still on air.....We finally arrived and it was just us and another united flight so the cue at the customs clearance wasn't so much.I wasn't given any preferential treatment, i had to wait my turn and here it goes...... CBP Officer: Hello where are you coming from me: Nigeria CBP Officer: What are you here for Me: Medicals and vacation CBP officer: What medicals Me: I am here to have my baby CBP officer: Let me have your custom declaration form please (He already had the passport) Me: Hands over form CBP Officer: I see you declared money above 10,000 dollars and you have got some food Me: Yes CBP Officer: Why so much money for this trip Me: I mentioned earlier that i am here for medicals sir CBP Officer: Yes that is right, when next you are coming to the US make sure you have all your receipts from your medical payments.I might have to send you to go check your bags and fill out the currency declaration form (Beckons to another officer) Me: Ok..Follows officer.... My bags were scanned and only my indomie was seized (I had lots of stuff like beans, garri, custard, cereal, milk, udah, ogiri, egusi, ogbono, crayfish, dryfish, dried ugu leaves etc) I moved on to fill the declaration form for my money and off i zoomed with uber to my destination I spent less than 5 mins with the CBP officer ( I carried all my documents from hospital fees to paid accommodation and he didint even ask to see any documents at all) I spent about 20 mins at the bags place because they took some time getting all my bags but once they got it..it was scanned in a few minutes and i was gone In all asides the long flight from Istanbul to Houston, it was a pretty regular trip and experience. NB: I got my visa last year for a vacation which i used for a 3 weeks vacation at that time and now i am using for childbirth So there goes my experience...I am waiting for my first appointment with Xydas while i spend the time doing some baby shopping I hope i didn't miss anything out.... 11 Likes |
