@house
Please, what is the easiest/best way to get rid of algae growth/deposits on interlocking stones/floors?

Something that preferably will last for some time before re-application again.

Thanks o!

Why is it that Nigerians like to leave their building to rot? I think there should be regulators to check buildings when they start to get dilapidated. This could pose a danger to human safety if this house fails because of lack of care. In the first picture, you can see the effects of making provision for a tank on the roof.

You cannot give what you lack, just like the erosion and pathetic rainfall damages in Nigeria, it happens in some states too in US but there are efforts and plans to curb them, in ibadan i wont lie many resident dump dirty things on waterways or during rainy seasons without thinking about how it is going to clog the drainage system. The problem with people is that we blame govt for everything, but who are those actually destroying properties, roads, drainage, street lights they are all normal citizens.

Very true.
Without wishing to sound obnoxious...
Individually we nigerians are bad people, we are the ones making the job difficult for government. & Considering d fact that nigerians also make up the government, everything just collapse. Even in the US, large part of their develpment can be credited to their citizens because of their patroitic nature. Look at how nigerians are constituting nuisance all over the world, is government also responsible for that.
I nor just know which kind of mind God give blacks, especially we nigerians....very evil mind....the only thing we are good at is how to set innocent people ablaze...

. When a building is showing signs of wear and tear and the occupants do not want to do anything about it, we are certain those occupants do not care about their safety.
There is nothing absolutely wrong putting a tank on a roof as long as you do the proper thing for that purpose. After all there some old govt buildings spread across the country with same pattern and they are still intact.

Food for thought on burglaries. This is the second occurrence where the burglary was of no effect on entry.

EVERYONE is bad, if the govt allows them to be BAD.
What l mean is, Americans, Canadians, Europeans, Russians, Japanese, Chinese, e.t.c are EQUALLY AS BAD AS NIGERIANS, if their Govt will allow them to be ...

BUT these other people KNOW that there is ALWAYS A PUNISHMENT, a SWIFT PUNISHMENT awaiting them, if they DO BAD THINGS!

- If Govt allows Americans to get away with it, they would never pay their Tax.... but ask Wesley Snipes, as popular as he is.
- If European/British Govts allow their citizens to dump refuse on the Road, all of them will do it (I have seen them do it with my own eyes and l have seen the Govts of these countries go the extra mile (even to install cameras) to catch the "Nigerian in them", and punish them severely, including jail time!
- I know Chinese are one of the most corrupt people on Earth (you just need to see some of the Bridges they do and how they collapse at will) but they "behave" themselves because they know that in China, if caught for corruption, especially on public utilities, it is death by firing squad, no questions asked!

I can go on-and-on but l wont.
My point is, everyone, human nature is bad (including Nigerians)but it is the ENFORCEMENT of the LAWS in other societeis, that makes the difference and make the people conform to being good.
Until we have a Govt that punish people for breaking the law (including dumping refuse in drains, not maintaining your building, cutting corners, etc), then we would think Nigerians are special people created by the Devil
grin grin

BTW: I am a Nigerian and l am GOOD! I dont do all those dumping in gutter, loot public fund, dirty the environment stuffs.
I just behave like the 'white people" that you think are exceptional. undecided undecided

abdulwastecx:

you can have a sizeable three bedroom flat with good space to pack 3 vehicle in front of the building.

something like this can enter the plot comfortably:
three bedroom each : 12ft x 12ft
three toilet each : 4 x 8ft
kitchen : 8ft x 8ft
dining : 8ft x 8ft
living room : 16 x 14ft
store : 4 x 4ft

total floor area = 1024square feet
plot size = 2000square feet

percentage built up area = 51.2%
how do you calculate the total percentage of a built up area?

Good pm all. I notice some inscription on our cement like 32.5R, 45N and others. my question is what is the advantage of one over another? or how does the use of any of them affect the quality of ur build

An astute question and I am ready to learn.

THough I suspect that it is the strength. I used Dangote 42.5r mostly on my site.

Nothing but strength....32.5r is of lower strength than 42.5r & therefore 32.5r shouldn't be use for major concrete works.

Total floor area divided by plot size multiply by 100

. The makers had the following in mind:
32.5---- plastering/rendering
42.5----- serves all purpose
52.5---- specialised construction.

Nothing wrong with it, my first bungalow was constructed with 6inches blocks in Nigeria and it is still standing till date after several years without any structural defects but I also know that some people use 9inches blocks for the outer walls and 6inches for the inside work, it depends on what you want cool

Majority of the bungalows we have in this country were built with 6" blocks.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with building a bungalow with 6" blocks. As long as the blocks are of good quality. some people even use 5" blocks for bungalow, i am sure u haven't see such before.
