Since you are going for studies you might not have much trouble at POE except you have something to hide. Just ensure you declare everything such as food, currency e.t.c on the customs declaration form . Your i20 & Passport are the required documents. Additional documents such as Sponsor's Bank statements, School fees receipts, SEVIS Receipts, connecting flight ticket may be required on rare occasions or if picked for secondary screening.

I hear recently Phones are checked. You may want to clear any incriminating chats/messages to avoid stories that touch. Have your DSO's phone number and also inform him/her of your travel schedule prior to arrival.

Preparations depend on your potentials, what your background is, etc. The normal time should be 3 months in order to target a great GRE score. If your card is accepted, you can do the registration on ETS web. If you need help on that, PM me. Cheers!

While you await your i20 you can request your sevis ID from the sch. This will enable you make sevis payment and even book an interview as long as you're certain of your i20 arriving before your choosen date.

TOEFL is an English test required by some US universities. though, some schools waive due to the fact that Nigeria is an Anglophone country.
For toefl, all you need are the speaking noteful videos in the link below, the ets toefl guide is enough to ace the exam for other sections. Just download the toefl ETS Guide from there website and the simulation test.

As for the Tuition, if you have good results (GRE, GPA, Toefl), SOP and LOR; US schools do offer assistanship to graduate students. This can either be Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Administrative Assistant. Depending on the school, if you get an assistantship, your Tuition will be waived and you will also be paid a monthly stipend that can take care of your living expenses. One advice, once you shortlist schools, send emails to the grad cord of the schools and ask specific questions relating to that course and funding opportunities, be very explicit.

Lastly, there are basically 2 admission session in the US, Spring (Jan) and Fall (August). Schools admit more students in Fall, so Its advisable you plan towards Fall 2018. If you plan to resume in fall 2018, make sure you submit all your application documents before ending of Dec 2017. If you don't give it a trial, you will never know.My philosophy in life is to always do my part, with that I don't get to regret later. Above all, if you believe in God,pray to him..if not, good for you.

me: I choose MSU because they offer masters in public health with a concentration in Environmental health which will help me implement programs that will improve and promote healthy style living among people of my community here in Nigeria, which is in line with my future career as a community health worker and also i will be joining Dr ABC's research which is aimed at reduction and prevention of HIV/AIDs, sexually transmitted diseases, substance use and alcohol abuse among emerging adults between the ages 18-27.

ME: I put my hands on the slab, face down and I was laughing.... I took my papers and left.


For me I would say it was just God's favour, I told God I wanted a smiling VO and just 2 minutes interview with very few questions and a white sheet at the end...............and it was so.
I couldn't help but notice a lady who was talking so loud with all energy "saying I will cure polio,I will cure this and that" fear begin dey catch me say if she could speak like this and ended up with a blue sheet, wetin I want talk again but I was calm and very optimistic.
MY ADVICE
you don't need to shout to convince the VO, shouting makes one sound like a desperado.
Maintain eye contact..... although in my case i was looking at him but i no even see am.....cos i was looking behind him and focusing on what he was asking me.

Its my fault. I am paying my tuition deposit next week before I can get the I-20. Dats y I am devicing day means. Is it achievable within a week from my initial post.
