Unless we are using them to threaten the integrity of the league. I read somewhere that we'd be facing a quarter of our Premier League matches next season against weakened opposition thanks to our uncanny loan deals.

Loftus-Cheek, Tammy, Brown, Zouma and Kasey won't be facing us when we square up against their respective teams, and they are all first team players.

Talent isn't just enough, mental development and discipline are also needed, alas, these kids lack all that.

Conversely, I wonder what Eddie Newton and Paulo Ferreira are doing in their given roles as loan coaches or whatever.

They should be the ones reporting first hand to the club lads who are ready and who aren't, but the reverse seems to be the case. Infact, it seems it's just me, Bigkesh and Nateevs that knows what's up with these boys.

We keep stockpiling these kids like they have a future here, even when it is glaring clear that they are far from our level. Every window we keep hearing that one youngster has been sent out on loan. Just today, Kalas and Blackman left, the former have been here for the past 4 years but is yet to kick a ball for us in a competitive fixture. The ultimate question remains, till when?

If they aren't good enough, why not jettison them and move on?

Realistically, to break into a first team like ours you need to have played 150 to 200 games at senior level.
Even someone like Eden Hazard had done that in France before coming to Chelsea so the reality is our young players will need to experience the same, which is almost three full seasons out on loan.

If a player goes out at 18 or 19 years old, that means they will be 22 years old before being able to really compete for a regular place in the team and you can see that pathway with the likes of Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Chalobah."

This is Neal Bath, Chelsea Head of Youth Development on what it takes to even make the squad, not first 11.



You 150 -200 games at a senior level before you're even ready to compete for a place in the squad...and this assuming that you're even deemed good enough to compete after gaining this experience.

The only caveats to this is

1: you're an Mbappe or Rashford style prodigy
2: there's a crazy injury crisis.

This is why i keep saying that keeping these boys around to play 33 minutes over 5 or 6 games a season like RLC last year does not help these players 1 bit.

Send them out on loan or sell them if they want to go. The only youth I want in the first team is the type that is ready to snatch a first team shirt.

Hazard was the around same age as Chalobah this yeat, when he moved to England. The difference in not just ability, but reputation is clear.

did you read what you just typed..?? When Mikel was playing for Chelsea, chalobah was busy sitting on the bench on loans.. As bad as Mikel is he has better football knowledge than chalobah.
