Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and French Minister for Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian signed an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) for the construction of Australia’s future submarine fleet on December 20, according to an Australian government press release.

The agreement establishes the legal framework for the development and construction of 12 Shortfin Barracuda Block 1A submarines, a diesel-electric derivative of French shipbuilder Direction des Constructions Navales Services’ (DCNS) Barracuda-class nuclear attack submarine under the Royal Australian Navy’s SEA 1000 Future Submarine Program.

“The IGA is the last foundation stone needed to ensure Australia is able to develop a cutting edge sovereign submarine capability. It follows the selection of French company DCNS as Australia’s Future Submarine design and mobilization partner and Lockheed Martin Australia as the combat system integrator,” Turnbull said in a prepared statement.

What i meant was, it doesn't meant anything officially, at least i don't think so. That design isn't new, it's been in movies etc.

Its usually used among rangers in many army a cross the world and its called the "deuce four skull" logo.

In Nigeria Here it was first used by the 72MSf both the land & air-wing.

I am not really adding that of maintenance, if not I would add the cost of buying OMO for their dirty clothes, fixing of those boots etc....also the kneepads and commando knife were some prices I found online.

The BIR is some three battalions (quite huge for core elite operator units vis-a-vis the size of it's armed forces unlike the NNSBS, British SAS, US Navy Seals) with conventional capabilities. It is under it's army command and directly loyal to President Paul Biya.

Not so the NNSBS which is comparable to the British SBS or US Navy Seals whose selection process is above board. While some of it's training regime is known, much of it is still classified. The NNSBS is more than just your capable special forces like Nigeria's AFSF (drawn from all arms of the military) or 72nd Mobile strike force. It is a small Naval men only unit highly skilled in all art of combat on Air, Sea (under-water) & Land. It is answerable to the CNS. It's numbers are classified. It's covert missions are classified.

For hypothetical reasons as a war with Cameroon is decidedly unequal: the BIR may be comparable to the AFSF or 72MoSF. They won't see the SBS coming.

Some of you find it very difficult to understand simple English, 90 percent of the arguments on this thread are as a result of this.

The initial argument was “what will be the outcome of a hypothetical BIR vs AFSF confrontation”, I stepped in and pointed out that they aren’t trained to fight the same fight,

If Nigeria and Cameroon are to have a conflict (hypothetically) it’ll happen in the Niger Delta bakasi region, from what we have learnt in the past.
This area falls directly under SBS responsibility therefore it’ll make more sense to have an SBS vs BIR confrontation rather thank AFSF vs BIR.

The outcome was not discussed, it was not a comparison.

In the BIR (Brigade) there is a Special Amphibious Battalion..except you can bring up facts and proofs your statement is uncalled for

I'm not sure how it stacks up in your part of the World but if I may.

Night vision googles-$500

Not sure what Russian NOD's cost but you will not get good Western NV kit for less then 2 grand. The fairly standard AN/PVS-14 monocular issued to infantry etc goes for close to 3 grand. The rather famous GPNVG-18 (those weird 4 tube NOD the SEAL wore on the bin Laden raid) are 40 thousand+ a piece.

Body armour-$300

Again not sure about where Nigeria sources its BA, but here you won't get much change out of 1500 Euros between the carriers, the hard plates and the soft inserts..

Knifes- $15

You won't get a quality knife for that, and if it's NSW types, they like their knives treated for corrosion etc, so the price goes up. Jusrt for an example the Italian SOF uses various knives from Extrema ratio, none of which you'll get for less then 300 Euros.

Elbow pads-$10
Knee pads-10

Mil spec ones are 4 or 5 times that minimum.

Bullet proof helmets-$90

That would barely cover the cost of getting it painted the OPs-core FAST helmet, which I think is the one the NNSBS uses, is north of $1300 a pop

According to sources within the leadership of the insurgent group, the Islamist terrorists did not immediately realize the composition of the convoy when they launched their attack. Such attacks on convoy are a common occurrence in Nigeria's beleaguered northeast zone where Boko Haram militants have been most active.

After the attack, the insurgent fighters abducted four persons contracted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). One of their victims died from injuries he sustained during the onslaught.

In a photo obtained by SaharaReporters through a journalist with access to the two factions of Boko Haram, the abducted lecturers are seen looking terrified and seated barefoot in some unidentified indoor facility.
It is not clear whether the Islamist insurgents intend to make ransom demands in exchange for the release of their victims.

However, their decision to release the photo of those they abducted may suggest a desire to seek a negotiated settlement to free the captives.
