Dear abujaniv,

I recently applied for visa recently via Dropbox and was asked to come for interview with a 221g form. I have applied for a date for interview, is it possible to fill another ds 160 form, as I intend to change my purpose of travel and date of travel. Though both fall into B1b2 category. Or I just wait for the interview day and let the VO know the changes verbally.

Thank you

Mrsdoctor007,

The best thing to do would be to cancel your interview request for now and fill out a new DS-160 with correct information on your current travel plans. Bring both DS-160 confirmation pages to the interview once you have re-scheduled. You could take your chances and come in as scheduled, since the visa class is the same, but you may still be asked to correct your DS-160. In either case, you should be prepared to explain how and why your plans changed. For other DS-160 questions, see https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/forms/ds-160--online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/frequently-asked-questions.html.

expertman,

I can't tell if you are having a technological problem or if you have incorrect information on your DS-160. If technological / sign-in related only, call the help numbers listed at this site http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-main-contactus.asp. If you have incorrect information on your DS-160, you may need to cancel your interview, re-fill the DS-160 correctly, and schedule a new interview.

Dear Abuja Niv

hello house i need help i didn't Finished filling my ds 160 only copied my confirmation number and quickly used that in processing my appointment so as to get a good date,

eventually couldn't get a good date so i applied for expedite appointment now it has been approved and appointment date changed.

so i wanted to login back into my ds 160 to get all done but couldn't gain access showing the following :

Surname does not match.
Year of Birth does not match.
The answer for the security question is incorrect.

so i think my best option is filling another ds160 now i cant cancel and rebook appointment as it can only be done twice.

please what can i do so that my appointment confirmation can carry my new DS160 Confirmation number?

i know i can update profile on appointment booking portal but dont know if that will make things work fine.

please help is needed on what to do.

thanks in anticipation

Dear abujaniv,
I had issues surrounding an incomplete ds160 and my reschedule after the first 'tb' on Tuesday last week was for Thursday last week. Upon realising I couldn't complete my ds160 I immediately used all necessary channels to notify you on this mix-up, knowing my interview was for Monday (24/7/2017) not up to your three traditional working days.
I updated my profile and luckily my appointment page reflected the new code. But to my dismay, the list you had on the checks was having the wrong application number. Tried to explain but no one seemed ready to listen. I felt bad because this is a second reschedule. I felt something better could have been done - probably confirm from your network to see if the change had been effected.
Summarily, I was turned back again, although my mistake...but I felt the Lagos consulate could have done better.
Any tip on what's next as I will like to reapply as soon as possible because my school resumption is very close.
Thanks.. .

Dear Abujaniv,

I am writing to find out some information from you. I recently filled out a US B1/B2 visa application form for a family member and thought she would qualify for Dropbox. Her last visa expired in June 2016. On getting to submit her documents, she was told she did not qualify for dropbox (Visa expiry is > 12months) and will need to pay another visa fee to schedule an interview. Should this be so? Since we are not changing any details of DS160, I am wondering what can be done to get an interview date without having to pay a new fee? Can you advice on how to proceed?

Thank you.

Hello Abujaniv,

I'd like to know if one can apply for a renewal of B1/B2 visa ahead of its expiry date, like 2 or 3 months in advance.

Hello @Abujaniv

I think I made a mistake in my DS160 form regarding my traveling plan. I don't know if my departure city should be in America(equal to my arrival city since I don't intend visiting another country or my place of residence.

Also, I'm a student and I also work. The form did not allow me to enter the two as my current things I'm doing.

Is this a major problem or something I could discuss during my interview?

Hello Olusegun26 -

Do your best filling out the DS 160. If you made mistakes on it, you can fill out a new one and associate it with your interview appointment. If there isn't room for all the information you need to put on it, fill it out as well as you can, and bring the additional information to the attention of the VO who interviews you.

Hello ScholarUS -

Generally we will reactivate the fee payment in these cases. If we have forgotten to do so, please contact LagosNIV@state.gov and we can fix that.

Thanks @Abujaniv for your firstclass info.

Lastly, Is there any penalty for submitting an application for more than two times even having updated the last filled application without error with your appointment? I was told it could affect my whole application? How true this is?

Hello VO, I am in the process of appling for a renewal of my visa. While filling out the form using the last information on the embassy database,I discovered that the agent that filled my form made some mistakes in respect of my educational start date and end date. My question is this, should i effect the correction on this renewal form or i should leave it as it is so as not to cause a conflict in information previously supplied. Thanks

Hello Abujaniv,

Kindly educate me on this

I want to renew my US visa but i'm so confused about the documents to include in the drop box. I was issued with the first visa in London.

Kindly educate me as i'm being sponsored by my office for a conference.

Thank you.

Hello Pweety1 -

So long as you are applying with a Nigerian passport, you will need to include

1) your passport with more than 6 months validity remaining
2) a passport photo
3) your DS-160 confirmation page
4) your dropbox confirmation page
5) your MRV Fee payment receipt

If your passport was issued by another country you are not eligible for dropbox in Nigeria because your prior visa was not issued in Nigeria.

My wife got her B1/B2 visa approved last week with the intention of giving birth in the United State. I have some series of questions that i will like the house to help with;
1. Is it advisable to apply for my visa now or wait till she arrives at the state before applying?
2. What is the percentage that the visa will be granted?
3. At how many months is it advisable she flies?
4. Like how much cash is it advisable to hold for the POE?
5. Her travel date on DS160 is first week in September but she's willing to travel last week in September, will there be any issue with that?

PLEASE ADVISE.....

My visa application with family has been denied twice (family vacation and the other family vacation+childbirth), even though I was totally honest in my response and explanation and apologized at last interview.

At both instances, my previous interview (didn't mention I was pregnant at embassy. Mentioned pregnancy and vacation at POE was given less than required period to stay. my doctor advised against travelling back so applied for extension) was referenced.

Please any advice on how to address the concern (highlighted above) .

Hello Gbengaultimate. We always advise people to apply for their visa well in advance of their intended travel. We don't discuss chances. We can not give you or your wife medical advice on when she should fly. Any amount equal to or more than $10,000 or its foreign-currency equivalent must be declared at the port of entry. Your travel plans are up to you.

Hi ladymandyo. It sounds like you have not been open and honest about your true purpose of travel on at least two occasions now. Furthermore, you did not abide by the duration of stay allowed by Customs and Border Patrol. You have tarnished your credibility, which is paramount in the US visa process. I don't have any further advice for you.

Hello AbujaNIV,
I'm not sure you answer these sort of questions, i just can't help but ask. A senior civil servant is married to banker and they have 2 children and they are all applying to go to the US on vacation, what would you see in them to make you deny them a visa? This didn't happen to me, i've only heard stories.
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by ladymandyo: 3:53am On Jul 30, 2017
Thank you. I do appreciate your response. Yes, I wasn't open in my first interview (big mistake) as I wasn't properly informed at the time. Was wrongly advised at the time to mention the childbirth only if the VO specifically asked if i was pregnant. At poe, I knew better as i was honest. The officer told me i should have contacted the embassy about my additional intention. I was stamped for short stay and told i could apply for extension.

At my first appointment with my doctor, I explained my ordeal to him and he officially advised against my travelling back to return, that it was risky. It was then I applied for extension. All my bills were fully paid.

I apologized for the mix up. Being honest after my first interview and explained to the consular officers. Last two denials are over a year apart.

I made a gross mistake by not mentioning that I was pregnant in my first interview and truly sorry.

Pls how can I redeem my credibility?

Morning Sir,

Can one be sent back because his/her passport photograph was not embedded in the DS-160 form while submitting online due to size?

If one's DS-160 form does not have an embedded passport photograph and interview date has been approved, can one fill a new DS-160 and reschedule or what can one do. ? Thanks.

Hello,

Please, i would like to ask a question. I filled my ds160 for F1 visa class but when filling my profile on US embassy appointment website
https://cgifederal.secure.force.com, I made a mistake. Where I ought to fill my name I mistakenly put the school's name.

It was after I submitted the form that I got to know. As expected I was turned back at the embassy and told to go and edit my profile. On getting back to my profile, I discovered it is the only place that is not editable on the form.

I have since sent series of emails to the address I got from their contact us but up to now no response. This has been ongoing for over 3 weeks ago and the school I propose to attend will soon open by the end of this coming month for a new session.

Pls advise, what should I do to fast track their response?

Your response would be appreciated.

Thanks
