if u remove fuel money and other expenses like Uber commission of 25%, feeding and call card etc. how much will remain ? Rough estimate from experience, Fuel money shld be around 5-8k, Call card shld be around 600-1k depending on duration of call or SMS with your riders. Feeding money 3 times Morning, Afternoon, Evening which is about 1,500 naira only. Total money earned minus Total cost or expenses incurred equals to around 7k to 10k Well u tried. Kudos to u. It's not easy I have been there.

when u arrive at their destination how do you notify them only by SMS? What if there delays by your riders, won't u call them to know far. U can't use 3K fuel on 19 trips 17 hours online. No car is that fuel efficient to dat level. 17 hours is like u re working from 8am - 11pm

Saturdays and Sundays are the only days in Uber, you can make 20k in 17hours, the rest days you will make 15k less.

17hours drive doesn't come easy.

Bros, if you are not careful, you will spend all your earnings on feeding. You still dey reason 3 square meal for this matter? The 21k is after uber deductions, and most you spend on fuel is 5k. So you still get home with 15k min

You should know you cant be driving the whole 17hrs, part of this time, you are waiting for passenger to show up or waiting for a request to come and during this time, your engine is not running

Lol. Have u forgotten dat money can't buy u sound, good and enjoyable health. How can someone be working 17hrs a day not eat well. Breakdown is inevitable either by sickness, heart attack or any other disease. Dude I still doubt 5k fuel, cos fuel nah 145 naira now per liter not 85 naira in d good old days. 5k fuel can't serve 19trips. It's too small for dat. An average 8k fuel wld do 19trips even if it is short trips.

The same way all the food in the world can't give you good and sound health. What you need is a balance.
For me, I prefer fruits and veggies more, a little processed food and I am ok

Hello everyone, happy Sunday. I'm happy, I hope you are too. In case you aren't, I have brought some financial advise to brighten your day.
I want to talk about investment and return on investment (ROI) in the context of Uber.
So I was researching fixed deposit rates, not to invest but to get a comparison between that and an investment in Uber.

The best rate I was able to get was 3% on a 30 day fix, that is, if you left your money with the bank for 30 days, they would give you an appreciation on your capital of 3%. So I though, let's choose a nominal figure for the sake of this post, a figure of say #1,500,000.

If you fix #1,500,000 naira on a percentage of 3%, at the end of the term, you make a profit (or interest) of 50,000 naira. A not so whooping sum of #12,500 per week. I believe there is also a service charge, though negligible, it will affect your bottomline.

Now let us look at an equivalent investment on Uber,
Now that Uber is accepting year 2000 cars and newer.
Let's say you invest in Uber with #1,500,000.
You are guaranteed returns of #120,000 per month
, #30,000 per week.

From my layman calculation that is about 8% compared to fixed deposits' 3%.

Quite a difference when the capital we speak of is #1,500,000 .

Now, I think you may speak of risk. Fixed deposits are essentially risk free, while Uber carries certain risks ; accident, theft, fire etc, but that is where insurance comes in. For about #50,000 naira you can negate all risks, for upto 1 year. Over the course of a year, that is 4000 every month. Risk averted.
If we were to deduct interest from risk premium (insurance) we get a profit of 116,000 per month, still much higher than fixed deposit.

One legitimate concern of course is, what happens to mechanic costs when you have to fix the car (this is a variable and highly dependent on other factors, also it is unpredictable so I won't calculate that here), if you get a good vehicle, you don't have to worry about mechanic costs, I have been driving my car on Uber for 3 months and haven't had cause to visit a mechanic, so it's been all profit for me.

So how do you get a good car? Leave that to us, we can help you source for well maintained vehicles from reputable car dealerships.
As fleet managers, we can help you purchase sound vehicles for your investment.

It is worthy to mention that no investment vehicle(no pun intended) is devoid of risk, fixed deposits are affected by inflation while Uber vehicles are affected by depreciation.

I think any investment that out performs the local fixed deposit rates is a good investment. Think about it.

Invest in Uber today.

Have a happy Sunday and a lovely week folks.

Thanks for sharing your observations. I am not saying Uber is the best investment in the world.I believe I stated I chose fixed deposit, because, in my personal opinion "any investment that outperforms fixed deposit is a good investment" and because they share a common threshold (of couse, so do treasury bills). I can't compare Uber to every single investment, I chose fixed deposit for the sake of relativity ie how good an investment Uber is as compared to another easily understandable investment vehicle. You can also share with us an analysis of your own, the public will be better informed as a result of it. I really would be appreciative if you chose to share more of your observations, thanks and cheers.

You guys should move on from this Uber is profitable or not talk, to each his own. Let's all do as we please. If someone thinks 20k after 19 trips is good money, is it your car? or your health?

No matter what you say, analyse, or calculate(fuel, reachrge card, food) Romeo won't stop driving for Uber because he makes his 150k weekly (forget the number of hours or how many trips it takes him to get it done, he's making his money)

It's not easy I have been there.

This your comment clearly shows that you're neither a driver nor a partner on any platform whatsoever. You're just here to cause confusion. You should have added his transport fare to and from home. 1k for calls in a day? even if na international call sef.

The only expenses to be calculated is the fuel consumption. Every other expense is general.

A salary earner that earns 100k monthly still spends abt 500 for transport, 500 for food and 500 on calls and data daily. That's a total of 1500 expenses daily, could be more. That gives us a total of 45k on expenses in a month. He still has other expenses to make from that same salary like buy clothes, school fees etc...

What is my point? feeding, airtime, these are general expenses we all make. So you can't factor that into your Uber expenses.
