The VC of University of Maiduguri, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi came out today to declare his university's commitment to continue in the wild goose chase for oil in the Chad basin stating that "Boko Haram attacks can't stop us from oil search". This is coming a few days after the recent attacks by BH on a convoy of UNIMAID staff who were killed and abducted by BH as they made their way to an exploration site.

As foolish as this statement is , the university Don has refused to use commonsense logic to know that BH which hitherto where fighting to Islamize the NE throw violent Islamic evangelism known as Jihad, will now have another powerful motivation to continue their Jihadist quest as they will assume that there is Oil at stake to be controlled.

Whether there is oil or not is unimportant, but as long as the APC led FG continues in their futile search for phantom oil deposits, BH will not be going anywhere soon rather they will be emboldened to wage a more brutal Jihad towards capturing and controlling the Chad basin and adjacent areas over phantom oil wells that are yet to be discovered.

ISIS consolidated their grip in Syria and northern Iraq after capturing oil wells which they exploited and sold crude in the black market to sustain their Mahdist expansion and Islamic State.

With attitudes like these coming from Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, who carelessly and ignorantly refused to factor how natural resources have played a major role in conflicts in Africa, we should brace up to see BH getting more reinvigorated and brutal.
