These two hunters (Amos Bitrus and Danjuma Sale) were arrested around Tungan-Baki area of Bauchi state on June 30th with 1 baboon, 3 patas monkeys, 1 porcupine, 2 warthogs, and 1 guinea fowl. The arrested hunters/poachers also had seven hunting dogs with them that attempted to attack the rangers.

According to reports, Danjuma had been previously arrested in Yankari game reserve - so he was sentenced to two years in jail. As a first-time offender Amos was sentenced to six months.

Hunting in some places is illegal as they are sanctuary places for endangered animals.

Yes they killed those animals within Yankari Game Reserve, which is against the law. That crime is the reason for their arrest.

If you still have a problem with the arrest and jailing of the culprits that is to follow, perhaps you can write to Buhari in London, and ask him to head over to Yankari Game Reserve for the purpose of freeing those criminals, all to please you, personally.

Reason why they are called Poachers is because they carried out illegal hunting in a Reserved Forest meant to be a safe haven/ replenishing ground for endangered species.
