GallantGalaxy: You should include this channel as part of your research https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQhnGf9YGnXbbDwPWBUrLNQ I think he lives in UK or does most acquisitions in UK and installs in Nigeria. If I wasn't going to make a business out of solar then he is someone that I would have considered. As far as controllers go, for me this is it http://www.sma-america.com/home-systems/overview.html but it's not cheap. |

mufutau55: Thanks alot for the info, He (my archi friend) actually showed me his own house under construction on his phone, with plan to use flat roof... from the looks of the plan the flat roof seem to be different and more eye catching... Point taken from your post is to just go for the hip roof.. if i may ask, where is your base? And how do you normally work? |

namelesss: Personally, and knowing what I know now, I would advise to go for a hip roof. I have two flat roof structures on my site now that will be replaced by hip roof in the future when the materials have expired. The work of a roof is to keep elements out of the house, and both types will do that. For me, the one to select is the one that will make the owner feel proud architecturally as you pull up after a hard day at work. Good luck. |

EgunMogaji:Going by the bold, please how long does it take the materials to become expired? |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Nobody: 11:47pm On Aug 02, 2017 |
bixton: In my own personal judgement on my site I will consider it expired when it starts lifting, leakky, faded, etc Frankly, I would rip the whole shyte off now and redo it but my Wife won't have anything to do with that. Maybe Skimanski, AbdulWastecx, KolaShangOne might chime in. I've heard 35/50 years banded about on here. 1 Like |

EgunMogaji:@EgunMogaji. I agree. I looked at the map of United States of America. Some states Like Texas as big as our country Nigeria..imagine that. We just don't invest our resources in flood control. Besides, we don't have winter storms, volcanoes, and earthquakes like most of these Western countries do. 1 Like |

kopell:I really don't understand this your comment Seems it has been long u visited this country U think anyone would want to tarnish his own? This your countires not talking about their woes is wrong If we are talking about a problem & the government isn't addressing it, is it when we keep mute about it government will address it? Just tell me what is good about this country to cover up for the bad ones? U dare compare nigerians meaningless killings by boko haram to USA killngs? Yet all of u run to USA? How many US citizens do u see fighting for visa to come to nigeria? A conutry whose president reside in another country & whose children are graduates of foreign institutions...can anything be more shameful than that? There is nothing good to talk about nigeria, from our health system to education to roads is nothing but total failure. The only thing to talk about is the competence of our politicians when it comes to corruption. Pls if u wanna compare any situation with nigeria, don't use countries like USA, use our neighbours like ghana & senegal...Nigeria can never be like USA in any aspect if we continue with this level of corruption...& i don't see us changing anytime soon... 6 Likes |

bixton: At bolded, I usually watch out for the changes in every roof I install whenever I came to the area, and I track the changes and ask questions. There was this house I completed in Ebonyi state about 4 years back, we used AYACO roof tiles, not a popular brand but I still see it as fresh and black as we installed them. No changes. I have gone back to look at some houses we used Wichtech on, no changes yet after 5 years. There was a Wichtech roof which we use as reference in Enugu, that was the first red stone coated tiles I had ever seen, over 10 years now and still red. As for aluminium roofing, I watch out for the durability of the colours, but what has been my remarkable experience is the types that leak or develop faults more than the others. I have found out that Metcoppo are more likely to develop leaks than any other type of aluminium roof. We check and document these changes and use them as a reference to future decisions. 11 Likes 1 Share |

GallantGalaxy: Firstly, i didnt see a battery among the list. Secondly, this is very useful in offgrid applications say your village where there is no grid electricity (Nepa). This brings us back to the location you wish to use it. If you have 10hrs supply of electricity in a day in your area, then this starter pack is no right for you. What you need is a grid tie set up. Thirdly, a battery will cost as much as this starter pack or even more. The best is to get a battery plus a grid tie inverter which you can still use with generator for emergencies. This starter pack should come later as an add on to reduce your electricity bill. |

johnson232:Just busy now, I respect your opinion though. One thing is clear to me, Nigerians citizens are enemy of themselves. CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION, we know that was our problem. When people of integrity take steps to correct wrongs. Wasn't the same people calling it witch hunting and political prosecution. When people were sharing our common wealth then, no one saw anything wrong then. All these issues you raise, do they just happen over night. Are you telling me the hospitals, schools, roads, light, were all good within the last 18 years. More especially in the last 10 years when oil was sold at over $100 per barrel. Everybody thought our economy was booming on the context of deceive in the name of foreign investments. You also raise the issue of students graduating from foreign institutions, that is the result you get if people practicing and voting for rice, money, ethnicity instead of quality people with discipline, morals and integrity. Mind you if all this hate and divide by rule by so called politicians that you guys voting for ethnicity line, nothing will change anytime soon. Not until we put our difference aside and be patriotic citizens that have interest of that country at heart and bring value that will make meaningful changes. Instead of going their with a mindset of looting. I remember when they thought the economy was booming and people come here, even low earners with government jobs. Some of them come here and spend $3,000-4,000 a day. Some of these people today cannot even afford to charge their phones for whatsapp and they make us look stupid, as if we don't know what we are doing out here. 6 Likes |
