DreManuel:
No doubt. Should even be in top 100 globally but still hands out admit in a week just as Coventry that's not even in top 500. But in my humble opinion, any potential PTDF scholar who doesn't have an admission by now is not fit for the scholarship. I'm actually surprised, when I applied there for structural geology with geophysics the process took 2 months and there was an entrance test. That been said, that they offer quick admission doesn't make their standard poor. |

Exactly. UK schools don't wait for all applicants to submit their application before making a decison. Most schools in the USA only review applications after the deadline. That's doesn't mean all USA schools are good or even better than the UK. geobukky:

You're right about RGU. guiddoti: Yeah sir, your commando tone, though.
In case you don't know, you should consider area of specialisation in your choice of schools. Some schools have specialisation in geosciences only, some in specific engineering courses, some in commerce courses, some in classic art and languages. Take for example, Robert Gordon is best specialised in drilling course but is low rated university. Almost all drilling companies train their staffs in Robert Gordon university on their drilling lab for modal test. |

Let me say this here to probably encourage someone. Last week, I received an e-mail from a Professor in a UK University. I applied for admission there and surprisingly I was admitted. The school is quite difficult to get into. I hoped to get funding as they received generous funding from their alumni. I couldn't get. The Professor's e-mail was straight to the point 'I am contacting you because you're on of the few students joining the xxxxx research group, of which I'm the leader. Are you enrolling this October ?'
No funds to pay for a minimum of three years school fees. Besides, I am one of those who believes a good PhD should be funded. I told him I would love to but funding is the issue. He arranged a Skype meeting with me which turned out to be an interview. On the said day, he and another Professor were present. It was a firing section. Lol. Those kind of simple questions that you believe you are supposed to know but you don't have a direct answer. One of the questions - Why are horinzontal axis wind turbines usually white in colour ? Without thinking, I said for visibility. Lol. It turned out to be nearly correct.
The pseudo-interview ended and the Professor told me to expect an update in 24 hours. In summary, I have received a fully funded PhD offer (With some conditions which are okay ). Brethren, never give up. My interview with PTDF didn't go well. The panel obviously didn't like my area of renewable energy (And I wasn't ready to change It before the interview either.). Surprisingly, everything has worked together for good. It is still like a dream to me. I wish everyone good luck with the expected outcome from PTDF. Don't give up even if things don't go as planned.

Even University of Leeds hands out admit in 3 days. But the question is, why would I get a PTDF Scholarship and now go to an "ordinary" school? Coventry University is not an ordinary school sir. It is ranked higher than ''even your leeds" |
