ELKHALIFAISIS: Before you can even compete with the best, that person has to be 1) the best - which Ibos are not 2) Create an environment for competition and business growth - which Iboland doesn't. So once again, why should I move my company to the SE? 2 Likes |

ELKHALIFAISIS: laaaaal tell me 1) how you took Lagos away - have you attached it to Enugu? 2) How does taking Lagos away mean Iboland is business friendly? More than 70% of Nigerian industries are located in Ogun state btw. So, you need to rethink your lies lol 4 Likes |

Fifthcolumnist:You didn't read it, and yet you wrote this long epistle in response to my earlier remarks? Hehehe..... see how you just ridiculed yourself. Thank God everyone can read. And they can all see how your response has been filled with aspersions, and illogical deductions. Now you are blaming the Lagos-Ibadan press, for not providing enough news about your region. And you are assuming that I have not lived in other parts of the country, including your own region. Assumption is the mother of all fvck-ups, and you just fvcked up big time. Then you showed how clueless you were by claiming that: "due to reasons known by the government (or sheer ineptitude) the other three ports were closed ( warri, PH ports( not Onne) , Calabar ports) to reduce the influx of imported goods into the country ( so I heard) , and in all honesty every economic activity in Nigeria depends on importation for survival." You claimed the ports were closed to reduce importation...... 'so you heard.' Did you verify if there was any truth in what you heard, before jumping in here to rehash this illogical rant? When importation takes place, customs duties and taxes are paid. Does the govt not make gains from such fees? Why would entire ports be closed down to stop importation, when such items can just be banned or overtaxed to make its importation highly unfavourable and uncompetitive? I have lived in many parts of the Southwest, & the Middle-belt. I also served in the South-east. I spent part of my career moving all over the South-south, working for a major telco.I have shared a few experiences on various threads on this forum. The only area where I have not spent an appreciable length of time, is the far North. And I intend to rectify that soon. Now, can you see how wrong you were in your earlier assumptions? Again, I repeat, you have not thought of the right way to redress the issues you have encountered at Onne, as there is no proof that your people have done anything to take the bull by the horn, and get their elected representatives at all levels, to fight this battle on their behalf. I even cited instances of where people have compelled even govt to rescind unfavourable decisions. But in your characteristic egotistic manner, you chose to overlook it. Yes, Atiku has spent money building Onne. But nothing gives him the right to disenfranchise a portion of the citizenry from using the facilities there, by quoting outrageous charges. If you still believe that nothing can be done to rectify the issue, then please keep quiet and lick your wounds in silence. Stop wailing & castigating those whose region have been blessed with functional seaports. I am quite sure if importers from other major ethnic groups had been in the shoes of your people, they would have found a way to resolve the situation with the owners of Onne seaport, instead of lamenting online. ELKHALIFAISIS: My 'miserable' family lives in Ibadan. Youe miserable family lives in Aba. Who is more miserable? The Rise Of Startups In Ibadan; A Pointer To Technological Development. A startup company (startup or start-up) is an entrepreneurial venture which is typically a newly emerged, fast-growing business that aims to meet a marketplace need by developing or offering an innovative product, process or service. A startup is usually a company such as a small business, a partnership or an organization designed to rapidly develop a scalable business model. The newly arisen rate of startup company using Ibadan as a case study is essential to the city’s response to Digital Media and Technology in a whole. In the recent years, Almost every startup company has a monumental attachment to either Internet networking or high Technology consumption rate. Many have questioned when Nigeria would finally grow to become driven by technology. The answer, a few years ago would have been “in hundred years”. However, with the recent tech evolution in all parts of the country, it is evident that Nigeria is becoming more technologically inclined. The visits of Mark Zuckerberg and Y Combinator to Nigeria are a pointer to the quality of investments that the country can attract with technology advancement. It is true that these visits are a validation of the budding tech ecosystem. However, some have argued that the visits shouldn’t be considered as an achievement. Any real effort to see Nigerian technology occupy a noteworthy position on the global map means that the startup culture has to grow quickly beyond to this landscape called Ibadan. The size and maturity of the startup ecosystem where the startup is launched and where it grows have an effect on the volume and success of the startups. The startup ecosystem consists of the individuals (entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, Angel investors, mentors). This ecosystem must have a connected structure with institutions; take for example, University of Ibadan is an institution located very near to Bodija areas where the elites live and where high income startups started off. A startup called HelpMum was started by a student of UI, Adereni Abiodun and co founded by Tojola bolaji. These two guys are products of the institution system. This Event for example is a valid portrait of an ecosystem that can help the Ibadan startup environment. Startup South-west is a private initiative by ef-oneweb designed to create business development support for small tech startups with growth potential designed to help them achieve that potential. The idea is to open the techpreneural ecosystem in South-west Nigeria by identifying the key stakeholders of acceleration and ICT startups and fostering coordinated involvement and smart cooperation among them. Startups like Afridext is an online marketplace where customers buy and sell high-quality graphic designs relevant to the African market at preferred prices. Several startups such as Ibridge Hub, Whatsup Ibadan, Ibadan insider, ibcity info, illusion group. All these business in the nearest future will form a giant of corporation that will protect the heritage of the startup ecosystem in Ibadan and introduce her to the outside territories. http://mocharis.com/rise-startups-ibadan-pointer-technological-development/amp/ 3 Likes |
