Dear VO, NVC keeps sending or asking me to pay visa application fees. I have paid mine and it's showing paid but I added my son and husband to accompany me in form ds260 but my son who is 18 months has been included to accompany me under ceac. I can see pay now under his name but anytime I click to pay nothing pops up to complete the payment. Though my husband's name is yet to be added to the ceac page even after sending all documents that was asked. secondly, when my dad filled for us many years back my kid bro was like 2/3 years old and he later joined my dad in the USA. I can still see his name on same ceac and not paid attached to his name when I click pay fees and sometimes I see N/A. we have sent several mails to nvc and my dad also called them, they asked him to pay but still same problem. I don't even know what to do anymore because I am thinking there is a mix up somewhere. |

leakage01: Good morning, I understand that this must be frustrating, but as NVC handles this process, you will still need to follow their directions for payment. Regards, VO |

beekaf: Good morning, Any adult over the age of 18 is able to accompany the minor. The adult will need to identify him/herself to the consular officer, attest to be truthful under oath, and will be fingerprinted. The adult should have knowledge of the relationship between the child and the petitioner and/or the circumstances s/he wish to immigrate, because the consular officer will proceed with the interview with the accompanying adult. In instances wherein the accompanying adult is unable to answer the consular officer's questions articulately, the child's immigrant visa may be held up and the consular officer may request additional information before s/he finishes adjudicating the case. Good day VO, Thank you for the great job you guys are doing here. Please i need clarification on an issue. I applied for a visiting visa in 2015, i was married then (though it was just traditionally, not legally) and stated i was married in my DS-160form. The marriage later got dissolved in Feb 2016. Now, my mum who is a permanent resident in the US needs to file for an immigrant visa for me. My question is, do i need to bring any document stating i'm no longer married ( i was never legally married and didn't show any marriage certificate during my interview) or what do i do?. Thanks. |

For Visa officer Q1: what is the difference between welcome letter ( Paosf) and welcome letter (Acl)? Q2: I filed separate i-130 for my parents(mom and dad), should I fill ONE i-864 and make copy for my mom OR fill two separate i-864? Q3: are they going to be interviewed separately and if what happens to the joint docs like marriage certificate? I will appreciate it if you could clearify these things. Thanks |

magnificientzaz: Good afternoon, Applicants who have listed themselves as married on prior applications and are no longer married should be prepared to answer questions about the marriage as well as provide some form of documentation detailing the dissolution of the marriage (e.g. from a customary court). Traditional marriages are considered valid and legal marital relationships for the purposes of U.S. immigration law (in other words, if an applicant has been traditionally married and the marriage ended prior to the visa interview, the applicant needs to be able to demonstrate that the marriage has ended). I hope this helps. Regards, VO |

Aos29: Good afternoon, Each petition requires its own I-684 (affidavit of support). Since IR5 parent visas are individual petitions, each petition would require a separate, signed I-864 with accompanying financial documents. As for the interview, couples may be interviewed together. The National Visa Center does the final scheduling and should be informed of such requests. I hope this is useful. Regards, VO |

wendykaay: Good afternoon, It depends on which part of the process you are referring to. Travel.state.gov has a useful flowchart for the process of petition submission, processing, and the scheduling of interviews. The total length of time will depend on a variety of factors, including how quickly you submit requested documents. As such, I am unable to comment on the exact length of time for the filing process. Regards, VO |

As a friendly reminder, this forum is only for questions related to immigrant visas. There have been a number of questions related to Drop Box and student visa applications recently. You will notice that these questions have been deleted, as they are related to non-immigrant visas. Please direct these questions to the appropriate forum in the future. Thank you. |

Thanks for your previous help. Now my questions are: Q1: What is the difference between NVC welcome letter(ACL) and NVC welcome letter (PAOSF)? Q2: Who does the submission of All the AOS Package and the IV Package? Q3: Do they need to take an album of pictures OR just a few pictures of the petitioner and the parents? |

Aos29: Good morning, The first two questions relate to NVC's processing and should be directed to NVC. The consulate does not manage this part of the process. For the third question, it is up to the applicant to make a decision about the evidence they bring to the interview to support a familial relationship. The consular officer may ask to see photos during the interview. Regards, VO |

wendykaay: Good morning, After filing, petitions are either approved or denied by USCIS. You should visit their website for more information on the K-3 visa filing process and what happens after that (https://www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/k3-k4-visa/k-3k-4-nonimmigrant-visas). VO How true is that the immigrant applicant must bring to the visa interview among other documents, the original and photocopies of the Petitioner's birth and marriage certificates. I was thinking that the petitioner could send the photocopy each of these documents. Please clarify this. Thanks. |

Aos29: Good afternoon, Photocopies of civil documents are generally included with the petition. However, the beneficiary should bring the originals of civil documents like birth, marriage, and divorce certificates with them, as well as photocopies. Best, VO |
