Dr. Layi Fatona has been the Managing Director of Niger Delta Exploration & Production Plc (NDEP) from inception, since it was set up in 1994. He is a Petroleum Geologist with over 35 years of practice. He cut his teeth in the Petroleum Engineering as well as the Exploration & Production Departments of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC). For over 25 years, Fatona served as CEO of NDEP, which now produces 25,000 bpd of crude, from the Ogbele field. Niger Delta Exploration & Production Plc (NDEP) is Nigeria’s first indigenous integrated oil and gas investment company. It was set up by a group of over 70 professionals drawn from different parts of the country, and led by the late Chief Arenetekhai Adams, the former Group MD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), after he retired from the oil firm. After his death, Chief Ladi Jadesinmi of LADOL stepped into the saddle, as the new Chairman. As MD of NDEP, Fatona and his team pioneered the development of small and medium-sized oil and gas fields in Nigeria, when they were awarded Ogbele marginal oil field lying within OML 54. Today, NDEP wholly operates a mini-refinery at the same site, with a current slated capacity of 1,000 barrels per day, generating revenues of over USD 1 million, per month under Fatona's watch. The company was the first private refinery in Nigeria, to receive an operating licence by the Federal Government and has the sole right to sell surplus diesel fuel to the local market. The refinery is not complex, however it does produce a range of refined products including diesel, kerosene and marine diesel. Fatona stepped down from being the MD of NDEP last month, and has handed over the baton to Oloruntoba Johnson Akinmoladun another Shell veteran, as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and MD Designate. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/fatona-step-aside-ndep-boss/ ; http://ngdelta.com/executive-team/ 3 Likes
