Please, i would like to ask a question. I filled my ds160 for F1 visa class but when filling my profile on US embassy appointment website
https://cgifederal.secure.force.com, I made a mistake. Where I ought to fill my name I mistakenly put the school's name.

It was after I submitted the form that I got to know. As expected I was turned back at the embassy and told to go and edit my profile. On getting back to my profile, I discovered it is the only place that is not editable on the form.

I have since sent series of emails to the address I got from their contact us but up to now no response. This has been ongoing for over 3 weeks ago and the school I propose to attend will soon open by the end of this coming month for a new session.

Pls advise, what should I do to fast track their response?

Thank you for this thread! It has been very helpful. I would like to please ask some questions regarding the DS160 form.

1) I was turned back at the embassy because I had filled in a new DS160 form after making a mistake in the old form and requesting a change. I was told that the new DS160 confirmation code did not match the code the embassy had for me. I have since filled out a new form and gotten a new appointment date. Do I have to bring the old and new DS160 form to explain at the embassy?

2) In my visa appointment profile form on the cgifederal website, I use JUST my first name in my profile. On my DS160 confirmation form, in the "Name provided" section, I use my first name and middle name. Please will this cause any problems?

3) My school requires that I have funds in an account in my name. So my I-20 reflects this. However my sponsor is my mother. When asked who my sponsor is and I state that it is my mother, will this cause any problems as my i-20 states that the funds are in my name?

My questions: 1) Can I renew my visa via the drop box now (this month; 4months to expiration of my visa)
2) Can I travel to the US with my current B2 visa without any hiccups at the POE

Hello Torontoparrot. The visa fee is valid for one year after it is paid. If it has not been used yet, you should be able to apply it to an application tied to your new passport.

Goodday vo I will like to please make an enquiry on k3 non immigrant visa, my husband filed the form I 130 for me already for the immigrant visa which Is still pending, my question is does he need to file another new form I 130 separate for the k3 process and 2. What is the next stage after filing the form I 130 and how long does it takes for the process since my husband is an American citizen.thanks alot

Dear Abujaniv, Please i want to present a case on behalf of my boss. In 2004, he was assisted by a miscreant who paraded himself as an agent to gather his travel document for a genuine training programme he was supposed to attend in USA back then. He was having a difficulty in payning for his course online as the only option available as at that time was through the bank and the training registration deadline was very close so the agent promised to pay for the course so he could receive the invitation letter he needed to apply present during his interview. The agent said he could help him pay for the course through his uncle living in the usa provided my boss could pay him the naira equivalent about NGN 90/ 1 USD at that time. He paid the agent the fee in naira equivalent of USD 1,500. Fortunately,his invitation was sent to him within 24 hours, he went with it to apply for his visa and he got his visa but had problem at POE. In short, he was deported and declared permanently inadmissible on account of willfully committing fraud. My boss said the incidence beat his imagination as the CPB called the training firm, only to know that the agent used a stolen credit card to pay for the microsoft course he was going to attend so, a fraudulent charge was placed on the payment. In a nut shell, he went to apply for his visa recently after about 13 years of applying for usa NIV but was denied. since he was deported, he did not travel anywhere, stayed put, got and changed good jobs within Nigeria until he established his own firm in which he's doing well. He resumed traveling overseas in 2013. he has been to UK,France,Germany,Switzerland,UAE and Hungary in the last 4 years, where we have manufacturers without flouting visa rules...he's now a businessman and a distributor to reputable companies globally. I work under him and am made comfortable on the job. I noticed he was feeling down when i entered his office and i insisted he told me respectfully, what went wrong. That's when he shared his experience with me. he had not been to US embassy since 2005, after he was deported at POE on grounds of fraudulent visa documentation, which he was only able to discover himself at the POE. He said he trusted the agent so, he didn't doubt his credibility. recently, during the interview session,he explained all what happened to him and how he was lured into the mess by the agent unknowingly. Right on the spot...maybe because the interviewer showed pity on him and/or due to his changed status( our company is a distributor to 2 major manufacturers in the US alone), the interviewer said he would apply for a waiver on his behalf but he will refuse him this time because of the mark of permanent inadmissibility placed on him in the USA, which cannot be removed at any of the overseas visa offices except at the homeland office and this will take up to 5 months to process and decide,during which the response is given in case the waiver is successful. Sir, in conclusion of my long story, can he reapply before he gets a response from your office as we just won a huge contract of which he needs to visit and discuss with our manufacturer in the USA on production schedule, configuration wand possible discount consideration...or should he wait until he hears from your office? Is it advisable he sees the manager at your embassy on an appointment and explain all these or he should just wait? Thank you for taking out time to read this long story and I do hope many reading this will also learn from his unfortunate encounter with an agent because people can actually do the documentations themselves and legit without engaging touts,most of whom have not stepped outside nigeria before.

Hello fairfora. The story you recount is a cautionary example of the dangers of using agents. Mistakes made by them, intentional or not, reflect solely on the applicant, so there's no point in trying to foist blame. This goes for protocol officers as well--we often see officials with serious mistakes or omissions in their applications. Again, it is the applicant alone who will bear the consequences from these errors. It usually means that we will require the applicant to come in for a follow-up interview to clear up the mistakes. But it can be as serious as a lifetime travel ban.

Credit card fraud is a serious crime. Your boss should not apply again until DHS rules on the waiver. He'll just be forfeiting another visa fee, and it won't change the wait time. There is no option for appealing to Consular managers.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. This forum is quite helpful and interactive. You guys must have seeing a lot of cases similar to my boss'( an innocent man for that matter) on a regular basis. Our environment really gives room for such shady business to thrive and i hope someday, there will be a serious check to it and many would be saved from falling same victim due to ignorance . unfortunately, there's no ignorance in law. I will advise him tomorrow, though he has suggested he may send our admin manager to USA for the said business meeting a few minutes ago before i left the office, instead of him going to US, for now. Hello pyx. An applicant with an ineligibility may request the visa officer to apply for a waiver of the ineligibility on their behalf. If the officer agrees to do so, the applicant's case is put into administrative processing (221g status), and the waiver application is sent to the Department of Homeland Security. If DHS approves the waiver, the applicant is directed to return their passport to the Embassy/Consulate, and the visa is processed. If it is a lifetime ineligibility (such as 6c1 for material misrepresentation), this process will need to be repeated for each visa application.

1. I have a valid visa which I have travelled with but will expire in September. I would like to renew it as I intend to travel in October. I am eligible for drop box but can't find any information on the application procedure. Please can you help?

2. Hubby got his own visa this year and we initially planned to travel sometime in may to Texas but we had to change our plans on account of my health, now we want to go in October but to Tennessee, will this pose a problem at the POE?

I applied for visas for my parents and their appointment is later this month but while filling my mums form I was shocked to see from her passport that she was not born in Benin but in Auchi area and I had already filled Benin for her in my dads form which I had already submitted. I would like to know if a denial for a change of status is the same as denial of a visa. I have once been denied a change of status in 2009 when I was in the States. I have not been back to the US since then. However I recently gotten admission into a good school (along the lines of Harvard/Princeton/Stanford) with a scholarship and am quite worried that this will negatively affect me getting a visa.

On the DS160 form, where it asks if I have ever been denied a visa, I stated "No" as I was not sure if the denial of a change of status was the same thing as a denial of a visa. However on the question of whether I have ever overstayed a visa, I stated "yes" and went on to explain. I am not sure if these two questions are asking the same thing. I would really appreciate your input.
