Goodmorning VO,
Please advice me, i, my husband and daughter finished and submitted online, our visa renewal forms over a week ago. since then, we have been unable to successfully schedule an interview appointment or know if we qualify for the dropbox system because, my husband who is the person whose profile was used to get the visa 2 years ago and {main applicant},forgot his password for the profile previously used and he no longer has access to his former email. we provided feedback in order to rectify this, but up till date, we are still unable to proceed to the next stage.
My question is, can i create a new user with my details in order to complete the process? what is the implication?.
Thank you for all your assistance.

Dear NIV, thank you always for prompt response to questions.
I was going through the ds-160 of my cousin today and I discovered error in the portion where question was asked "" have you make any specific travel plan"? He answered "No" but not conscious of it until after submission. My question is " can this be corrected "? If yes how ? Because the interview is next week. To avoid standing as red flag
Thank you and God bless you

Hello enygmababe. Application procedures for the interview waiver program (dropbox) are the same as for a first-time applicant, just there is no interview. Information is here: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/
Anytime the actual travel deviates from what was indicated in the interview/application, it invites further scrutiny. Be prepared to explain if the border agents ask. Tell your parents to bring up the discrepancy at their interview.

enygmababe:
Dear VO,

Compliments of the day to you. Please I have three questions.

1. I have a valid visa which I have travelled with but will expire in September. I would like to renew it as I intend to travel in October. I am eligible for drop box but can't find any information on the application procedure. Please can you help?

2. Hubby got his own visa this year and we initially planned to travel sometime in may to Texas but we had to change our plans on account of my health, now we want to go in October but to Tennessee, will this pose a problem at the POE?

3. I applied for visas for my parents and their appointment is later this month but while filling my mums form I was shocked to see from her passport that she was not born in Benin but in Auchi area and I had already filled Benin for her in my dads form which I had already submitted. Can I correct this mistake or will it be a problem since I will not be attending the interview with them and can't explain the mistake?

Please help.

Thanks in advance

Hello ammyfab. Wait times are increasing in line with demand. Summer is the busiest time for visas and travel. Be patient.

ammyfab:
Hello VO,
I applied for a renewal of b1/B2 visa on the 24th of july 2017.However on checking the status,It stated 'application recieved' on the 26th of July and there has since not been any subsequent updates.it seems to be taking an unusually longer period that of my other family members who renewed about 2 months ago.could there be a problem?
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 5:51pm On Aug 07, 2017
Hello Fenix. When you apply to change status, you are going from one type of visa to another. So if the change was denied, you were denied a visa. Be prepared to explain at the interview.

Fenix:
Hello VO,

I would like to know if a denial for a change of status is the same as denial of a visa. I have once been denied a change of status in 2009 when I was in the States. I have not been back to the US since then. However I recently gotten admission into a good school (along the lines of Harvard/Princeton/Stanford) with a scholarship and am quite worried that this will negatively affect me getting a visa.

On the DS160 form, where it asks if I have ever been denied a visa, I stated "No" as I was not sure if the denial of a change of status was the same thing as a denial of a visa. However on the question of whether I have ever overstayed a visa, I stated "yes" and went on to explain. I am not sure if these two questions are asking the same thing. I would really appreciate your input.

Thank you!

Hello Ilhoffer. Every first-time applicant, regardless of age, must appear for the interview. The procedure for an infant is the same as for an adult.

Ilohoffor:
Hello,
I just had a baby and will like to travel on holiday with him to the US in 2 months. I was wondering what the procedure to get him a visiting visa was. His father and I currently have valid B1/B2 visas. Will he qualify for the waiver programme or do I have to book an interview? He is currently 2 months old.

Thank you for your response. I just hope it is not viewed as a lie. I truly did not know what to answer on the DS 160. If asked during the interview, I will be sure to explain.

Hi VO,

I am thinking of going for eye surgery in the US. I have been in a contact with an hospital there. Now the hospital is requesting for my appointment request date. I haven't applied for a US visa.Do i get a date from the hospital first or i schedule an appointment at the US embassy and inform the hospital?

Regards

Hi ogbenibayo. Individuals seeking medical treatment in the US should be able to demonstrate that they have been in contact with healthcare providers there, know how much the treatment will cost, and show how the bills will be paid in full.

Dear VO(AbujaNIV),

I paid visa fees with cash at GTBank and I’ve just submitted our(me&wife) DS-160 application and went on to the appointment site. Since I have a previous profile used to schedule our appointment in 2015, I just edited the information with the new Application ID, answered the questions, input the receipt no from recent GTB visa fee payment, and we both are qualified for Interview Waiver Program(dropbox).

However, on the dropbox confirmation letter, I noticed that the UID numbers is the same as the ones we used in 2015 to obtain our expiring visas. Although the receipt no from the visa payment I made few days ago is also listed, I am a bit concerned as to why the UID is the same as the old one?

Please enlighten me VO, incase this is a mistake on my part and there’s any step I need to take to rectify this before I submt at DHL.

Thanks always.

Good morning Abujaniv
Thank you for all your prompt response and incise answers to our questions, plenty twaile(local parlance for THUMBS UP) to you. I have a question:
My kid brother has been living in Turkey for the past 4 years and has a residence permit. He wants to apply for US visit visa, Can he apply in Turkey since that is where he is resident or does he need to come back to Nigeria to apply as his home country? Advice needed please.
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by Nobody: 10:24pm On Aug 11, 2017
Hello inikamoze -

I would recommend that he apply in Turkey. One of the main things we are evaluating during interviews is the applicant's ties to their home.
If his home is in Turkey, his ties are likely to be stronger there than they are in Nigeria. It is possible that the VO in Turkey may decide that he doesn't know enough about Nigerian culture to evaluate your brother's ties, and may direct him to apply in Nigeria instead. On the other hand,
it is likely much easier for him to attempt an application in Turkey. If an application is refused because the VO does not know enough about an applicant's culture to evaluate the ties, that refusal is not likely to negatively impact the applicant in future applications.

Good Morning VO.
I wanted to correct a question i asked earlier.
My parents are going to be renewing their visas soon through dropbox and my sister and I (14 and 17 years of age respectively) intend to travel with them to the United States.
We've never travelled out of the country.
So my question is:
Can we apply for visas with them via dropbox or do we have to go to the embassy no matter what?

Goodday house. Is one required to fill individual ds 160 profile for kids precisely age (1-10) accompanying the parent on an intending visit to the US.

Secondly, do i need to state my intent airline carrier on my ds 160 profile

Ur answers will be highly appreciated
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by Nobody: 9:51pm On Aug 12, 2017
Hello Chidiebereekenn -

If you have never had a visa before you must appear in person for an interview. If you have previously been issued a visa, then you may qualify to have it renewed via dropbox.

Hello Lufthansa -

Yes, a separate DS160 must be filled out for each individual, no matter how old.
