suretx: suretx, use adjustable legs for your solar rails and confirm angle of inclination using an inclinometer. you can't go wrong with these two combo... |

@house, Is it typical that when a battery is being charged and reads say 27V, for this to fall abruptly to say 22 or 23V once the source of power is gone? Also, is it typical to loop two separate solar arrays together and terminate just one cable instead of two for both arrays on the breaker? I have my thoughts on these but looking for individual experiences on this. Thanks house. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Oshomo12(m): 3:21pm On Aug 04, 2017 |
battleaxe:I want to assume that u are talking about two or more strings( eg, 2*250 watts in series make a string. And you want to connect two of this in parallel and terminate this on a single breaker?) pls don't do that, use a breaker for each string. That's the function of a combiner box, get one or improvised. |

Oshomo12: Thanks @Oshomo.... So I thought it should be, with DC breakers but I'm seeing some abracadabra. Others in the house, abeg your kind thoughts. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bigrovar(m): 6:42pm On Aug 04, 2017 |
battleaxe:This would depend on the how deep the battery was discharged before being charged and how long it was charged for before the charger was turned off. Generally though, that battery is pretty much dead. It means it can nolonger hold a charge and hence is best recycled. Never use such battery with new ones. Also, is it typical to loop two separate solar arrays together and terminate just one cable instead of two for both arrays on the breaker? It is possible but not recommended nor advisable. slight shading on one panel in one of the array can result in damage or even fire due to excessive current being pumped into the panel because of the bottle neck created by shading. If you have to use 2 arrays especially when their mounted in different locations. Best to use separate breakers and charge controllers. 1 Like |

GeorgeD1:The fear of reading the back logs of post kept me away. I now have over 3000 unread posts from my different followed topics. I had some family challenges around May this year so I missed several posts. I keep postponing the day I'll read all to catch up. It seems I'll have to ignore and continue from here. |
