Senate Warns Charly Boy, Protesters: "Leave Buhari Alone Immediately" by stephanie11: 6:16pm On Aug 08, 2017 |
The Nigerian Senate has warned the 'Resume or Resign' protesters to leave president Buhari alone. The Senate cautioned sponsors and participants in the protests by a coalition of civil society organizations, operating under the aegis of #OurMumuDonDo and demanding for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over his medical vacation in the United Kingdom to stop heating up the polity with their unreasonable demands. In a statement signed by its spokesman, Dr Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Senate said the protesters were only creating unnecessary tension in the country and seeking to divert the attention of the Presidency from the economic and security issues which are being tackled with vigour. The Senate noted that President Buhari had complied with the provisions of the nation’s ground norm, the Constitution, which stipulated that he must hand over to the Vice President and duly inform the two chambers of the legislature about his medical vacation. “The President has broken no law and therefore we do not see any justification for this diversion and noise making. The sponsors are merely seeking cheap publicity at the expense of the peace of Nigeria. We, in the National Assembly, are satisfied that there is no vacuum. The Federal Government is working. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is providing the required leadership. So, there is no reason for the protests. “All Nigerians now should focus on praying for the safe return of the President. We in the Senate are happy about the report by the Governors and party leaders who recently visited President Buhari in London and we know he will soon return to continue to provide leadership to our people and the rest of Africa. “We, therefore, call on the protesters to stop all these demonstrations and let their sense of patriotism overshadow the zeal for activism by joining other Nigerians to pray for the President, the acting President and Nigeria as a country at this critical period”, Abdullahi stated. http://politicsngr.com/2017/08/08/leave-buhari-alone-immediately-senate-warns-charlyboy-protesters/ 7 Likes 2 Shares

Legally, there is not power vacuum but morally, who leave his post for 3 months and not lose his or her job? Buhari has shown average Nigerians that he is more corrupt than any politician because out of job for months and still getting paid is worse than corruption.. 248 Likes 27 Shares |

This is a more mature way of responding to the arguments of the protesters than illegally trying to prevent them from protesting. The presidency should have engaged them meaningfully and point it out clearly to them that the president has not broken any law by taking a medical vacation for over 90 days. The president complied with the provisions of the constitution before traveling unlike Yar'adua who traveled without handing over. There is legally no lacuna in the presidency and the government is running very smoothly. 12 Likes |

Mr Nigerian Constitution.... Should the senate be focusing on side comments or discharging their constitutional duties.... Our so called president has decided to rule this great Nation from London.... To the point dat he is so comfortable hosting our brainless and greedy officers over there..... What has our Senate done about this.... Or is it the mismanagement of public funds and power at their disposal..... Or is it because he is from the North.... I want you to answer this question.... If Mr president was from the East or West or South, what do you think would 've happened under this same situation..... My friend you better wake up..... terzurum: 10 Likes |

bashydemy: In that case, should we give all nursing mothers 4 or 5 years of paid maternity leave, so that they raise their children to an acceptable age? And President Buhari is not even a nursing mother. He is President of Nigeria. Not King of Nigeria. Even in football, if you fall down, they will try to attend to you, but if you delay the game, they will carry you off, so that the game can proceed. President Buhari's absence is delaying Nigeria's progress. He needs to resign or resume. Nigerians have been quite patient. And does the Nigerian constitution say anything about medical leave for political office holders? 16 Likes 2 Shares |

Honestly, we don't have constitution on this country, neither do we have leaders! One, can you people say the same thing about a sick civil servant in similar situation with PMBSecondly, Nigeria is broke, Nigeria is broke, but imagine how much is being spent on PMB's treatment and transportation in foreign country. Imagine how much of our scarse resources is being use to develop UK's economy whileour own economy keep shrinking, regressing and collapsing at the expense of one man who is too greedy to resign and take care of his health! No one is saying he has committed any offense, but he's definitely unfit and incapable to paddle the ship of this country, his health has failed him, it is understandable but the country cannot afford to be at standby, because of someone who couldn't even declare his health status to those who elected him into power! ziga: Well no one says they should give them 4 to 5yrs haha, Yes President Buhari is not a King but duly elected president and don't forget the fact that he has never breached any of our constitution, Yes he is sick and on medical leave and before that he transmit letter to the NASS by transferring power to his vice.. Using footballer as your point makes you shoot yourself in the leg, When a footballer in injured, They replace him with another football if he can't continue and in this case we have Osinbajo that run on the same ticket with Buhari, They both run on the same ticket and won.. PMB have never broken any Law or constitution whatsoever, Many US President got sick while in power and have never resign.. Below is a link to educate yourself and to know all the useless protesters was either sponsored based on hatred or the protesters are just plain stupid to know Buhari has never broken any constitutional law.. https://www.ft.com/content/377f08c2-78f0-11e6-a0c6-39e2633162d5 8 Likes |
