we have so many deaf and ignorant people in nigeria.
How many times are they going to sound it that don't put on camouflage if you ain't in the military?

You are the only ignorant person here. If she has in any way breached the law she should have been taking in for questioning or keeoing her bars and the necessary punishment given to her, not behaving like you are in the animal kingdom where anytin goes and stripping her. In a sane climate or where humans reside the army should be the one behind bars now

be smart, go and check any country they respect their army. these are people that willingly put themselves in harms way for your safety. the fact that you can be here typing instead of running into bushes escaping from boko haram means that they are not the wasted army like you say.
smh

now to the issue obviously what she did was Def wrong, she can't claim ignorance either. some things are meant to be respected the army dress is a symbol of authority wearing it is like wearing a police Uniform when you are not it's wrong on all levels.
how they handled it could have been better and more decent.

You sound pretty stupid. The army put themselves in harms way for your safety? Meaning what? So that entitles them to behave like tin gods and like reckless barbarians? You must be very daft.

Did anybody force them to join the army? The army is an occupation, just like the police, the medical profession, teaching, farming, etc. None is more important than the other. Don't make these idiots look more important than they are. Their motivation for joining the military is NOT altruistic. They joined the military to find a means of livelihood like anybody else, and many of them are even motivated by the perverse desire to be in a position to intimidate and oppress others, NOT to protect them.

Give the average Nigerian youth a gun loaded with ammunition, and he will protect himself better than the useless and unprofessional army ever can.

Nonsense.

In a sane country these men would be arrested charged convicted and jailed!

The NA makes it very easy for us civilians to hate them. Even when they die in battle I don't pity them!

Is there any law that says civilians can't wear camouflage??

If yes is the prescribed punishment striping the suspect?

If no, then who the hell do they think they are to tell people what to wear??

It is written law that a person cannot be punished for a crime not know to law and punishment therein prescribed.
What are we if we do not have laws?? Bloody babarians!

The western world is right when it thinks of us Africans as such.
We have no atom of civility..

. Read section 109 very well she is guilty.. the only thing is that they did wrong stripping her in public, but don't forget section 109 made us understand that she is guilty of misdemeanor and liable to imprisonment for one year. That's is is she was charged to court..

SEE MOST OF US DO NOT KNOW THE LAW. MILITARY UNIFORM IS NOT A FASHION CLOTHE. EVEN SOLDIERS CAN NOT PUT THEM ON OF DUTY. THE ONLY NON MILITARY PEOPLE THAT CAN WEAR UNIFORMS ARE THE PRESIDENT, GOVERNORS AND ACTORS ON STAGES. IT IS EVEN A CRIME TO SELL UNIFORMS. GET SENSE EVERYONE.
HOWEVER SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND TAKEN TO JAIL FOR ONE MONTH OR FINED 10 NAIRA SIMPLE.

Society especially democratic ones operate on LAW and not right or wrong.
The first part of the law to mention here is enforcement. It is not within the ambit of our law for the Army to act as law enforcement or prosecutors so assuming she had broken any law it is quite simply not the business of any INDIVIDUAL soldier who feels offended. At best he can COMPLAIN to the police. It amounts to criminality when he starts to strip her of the offending garment. That is criminal and actually carries an even heavier penalty than the criminal misuse of military uniform.

What do our laws say about military uniform?
It is specific in prohibiting wearing similar clothes where there is an INTENT in law (mens rea) to mislead one or more people into believing that the wearer is a military personnel. In short where there is no such intent there is NO CRIME. Once again no intent to deceive or mislead NO CRIME. And again in law even where such a person is prosecuted the intent must be proven. Where camouflage is worn in such a way that it is obvious the wearer is not a soldier etc then it is TOTALLY lawful.
The final thing to say is Camouflage is NOT UNIFORM and ideally should not be worn by soldiers in civilian public space. Its purpose is to camouflage in the bush . Many people are still quite young but camouflage is a new thing with the Nigerian Army . They have not always worn it. The Army should stick to their official uniforms and reserve camouflage for when they are in combat.

The other thing is none of this would be happening if the Army did not live in towns and cities with civilians. Taking buses and public transport. We have come to accept this as normal. It is NOT. We should not be seeing soldiers if the country is not at war.
It is a shame our education system is so bad people can not think critically about issues and that is why our politicians are out of control because the citizens are largely ignorant and unintelligent
I would not be surprised to learn it is part of a movie production

Hopefully, your thesis doesn't include the USA.

Here we support our troops and we show it by wearing their clothing.

I buy most of my shorts from Army surplus stores here and they are genuine USA military issue .

It's not the clothes that signifies authority, it's the insignias.

I would refer you to this link i fyou care to educate yourself for future debate.

In US its legal to wear it, here its not...
NIGERIA AND US DON'T USE THESAME LAW

she is only guilty if found guilty of impersonation, by wearing the uniform plus the rank of a military officer, read it again.
