So you can keep returning to them and won't buy the medications if such an ailment re-occurs because there's an 100% probability patients will become affected by the same ailment at least ten times in their life times... by the way they practice that horrible handwriting 1 Like |

Medical doctors write fast when they were students, and use lots of shorthand signs, these grow with many of them and they are exhibited wherever they write. 9 Likes |

I think it's just for security purpose so that the novice will not be able to decode or decrypt it, or rather, due to the fact that their job is mentally based rather than pen! Just an assumption sha! 2 Likes |

When you combine medical terminology with approved medical abbreviations coupled with the fact that you must know transcription, they all become illegible to a non medical person. Anyway, I saw one a few days ago, it read; stat AXR a.m 3 Likes |

lilcashking: This is dangerous prescribing and very unprofessional.. P could stand for any other drug. You could get struck of if you try that in England.. No abbreviations.. Drs write fast because of there incredibly busy schedule, it becomes easier to understand / interpret if you work in that environment.. 2 Likes |

It's simple. They sometime write the chemical name of the drugs with dosage and type of release which makes it hard for a lay man to understand. 3 Likes |

They do it so that you wont be able to read the name of the medication... ...that way you'll not be able to by-pass them and go straight to the pharmacy to purchase the medicine next time you need medical attention |

Please the kind of comments we drop esp on issues we know nothing about is mind boggling. Let me also inform you that it is your RIGHT to know whatever medication a practitioner recommends for you. As for the writing style, if you look closely you must have realized drugs have both generic and trade names. A Lotta the stuff you see on your prescription paper is a scribbled abbreviation of the generic name and the dose. It is actually scribbled due to time constraint and because the pharmacist is sure to understand. Even roadside chemists understand the writing so I don't see why a Lotta peeps are acting confused. Funny enough many doctors have fine handwriting. Just ask for their notes before you conclude. As for me, I write two letters and draw a line, if you want to know the drug name then ASK! 6 Likes |
