The fact that some students had a woeful performance in their test doesn't give d institution to condemn dia former modality. UI can't possibly write a putme examination. People coming up here to post contradicting stories is a fallacy. FG's directive is against putme examination nd d instruction was clear to all tertiary institutions (private nd public). I heard dt d institution former VC petitioned FG pertaining to d cancelation of putme last year. The ASUU faction of UI threatened to go on strike but all to no avail. The modality of admission remains! !! What UI possess now is the autonomy of the point system to use. The Jamb/O'level may not be 50/50 dis year.

Good Evening Sir/Ma.

In as much as I'd have love to totally agree with your post.I think I hold objections to some of the points raised.

The fact that some students had a woeful performance in their test doesn't give d institution to condemn dia former modality.
No,I disagree. This ugly situation of woeful performance by admitted students will make various Institutions find a very strong voice against this inglorious policy.Do you know there are speculations already about Unilag conducting a PostUTME this year too?

FG's directive is against putme examination nd d instruction was clear to all tertiary institutions (private nd public)
Sir,Do you know what prompted Federal Government to make this policy. It was stated clearly that the policy was made to end the extortion of aspirants by Institutions because of the amount charged for PostUTME.Now,tell me,has the so-called directive changed anything?..Infact,Most Institutions charged exorbitant fees for screening last year.

So,I think all what UI needs to do now is to explain in proper and enough details the dangers that this model of admission poses to our educational system, worth and quality.

The ASUU faction of UI threatened to go on strike but all to no avail.
YES,They threatened strike last year. But,was it observed?..No!..Why?..Because Institutions haven't seen the woeful results this model will eventually bring.

Now,I can confidently tell you that a strike action is imminent if FG remains obdurate.

PS ..Let's all wait patiently for the outcome of the August 21st meeting.

Two sittings will not really pose a big threat. But do you mean you scored 189 in UTME? If that's the case, I'm sure you must have effected a change of institution by now if you initially chose UI as first choice. If you haven't changed your institution, you should do that as soon as possible.

I wish you the very best!

The problem now is JAMB is yet to release the general cutoff marks for each Nigerian higher institution. I read online that the policy meeting will be held in two weeks time, cutoff marks will be released the following day, 22nd of August. But I don't think it will be different from what they cut last year.

You'll need to change to an institution that cuts 180 as her minimum mark. If you need, I can help you compile a list of institutions that cut 180 last year, then you'll choose your choice.
Re: University Of Ibadan(UI) 2017/2018 Admission Thread by Oluwainnie(f): 11:08pm On Aug 09, 2017
Please do.. Although i'm not really certain if I'lld opt for changing based on 1) the score
2) high competition based on the course. If I'll be honest, chances are slim, buh who knows miracle do happen.

Hello Oluwainnie,

I'm afraid some schools will never consider any candidate with a UTME score that is less than 200 for admission. I know University of Ibadan is among.

I'll personally suggest you change institution. Many state universities and even some federal universities accept UTME score of 180 and above.

But if it is UI or nothing, then, you may need to wait for next year's admission. I wish you God's best in whatever path you choose to eventually tread.

@ the poster above me,using last year model,ur aggregate happens to be the same cutoff for law last year which was 64.95.

The unanswered question that keeps hanging on the air is whether cutoff would rise this year or not.

For science folks,I can authoritatively tell u that they performed excellently fine in both jamb and waec.
I cannot say that to we arts' students.

Lets hope for the best.

Note:
I used below subjects to arrive at ur aggregate.
Govt.
Crs.
Literature.
English.
Economics.
Ur civic education there is useless so far ui is concerned.

Good evening house! Pls I'm new here.
My brother scored 261 and had 2A1, 2B2, 1B3 in the 5core subjects.
What are his chances of studying MBBS?

Secondly, is there anything like age limits for UI admission? He clocked 16 in May.

Kindly waiting for your response.
Thanks.

firstly, I'll talk about the age limit. from my prior knowledge, UI has an age limit for admission. The candidate has to be 16 before September of the admission year. so he's safe.

about the chances,
IF UI will write postume, he will surely be eligible to write because he made above 200( which should be the cutoff). His chances might then be determined by whichsoever way as decided by UI.

IF UI maintains last year screening model, he has an aggregate of 75.96
This is slightly below the cutoff for last year which was 76.sumthing

Whichever way, I'll say he has a good chance.

Good evening everybody.

Ur olevel sucks mehn.
Last year cutoff was 75 while ur aggregate stands at 60.
The margin is quite high.
I would advice that u consider changing to a more lower discipline.
Physiology.
Biochemistry.
Industrial chemistry.
Botany.
Human nutrition.
Health education.
Ur aggregate beats all the above courses' cutoff marks.

About post ume stuff,no one can authoritatively say whether it will hold or not.
Besides, ui seems to be dissociating itself from all the news making round the net by one news they posted on their website yesterday
