It was reported that some days after the January 1966 coup with Aguiyi Ironsi now in power, Cyprian Ekwensi and some Igbos stormed a Northern region owned news media and took over, stating that "we are now in power".

This was done despite the regional autonomy that still existed at that time, showing that federal power was not a enough for the insatiable Igbos. They wanted to dominate affairs at the centre and at the regions.

Little wonder when Ironsi eventually proclaimed the unitary decree.

The bitterness you see in them today is as a result of Yorubas and Northerners' superior hands in politics and military

The reason why Northerners ll never allow Igbos to become Nigeria president is written in our history book. Igbos are a pure tribalists.

Go to their markets, region and companies to see pure tribalism.

They destroyed this country with their coup of 1966.

There is, by rule, one Permanent Secretary per state and another 6 per geo-political zone. Appointment is on the bases of available vacancies in each state/zone. Therefore, all the 21 appointments made are for states/zones where the Perm Sec has retired or otherwise vacated office.

For instance, none of the new Perm Secs is from Borno State because their Perm Sec is still in service.

Permanent secretaries are appointed based on state and zonal vacancies.

You lack understanding about the civil service commission and how permanent secretaries are appointed. The most senior level 17 director in the ministry or parastatal is automatically in line to attain the level of permanent secretary once the current one vacates or retired. The president only makes or ratifies the appointment. It seems some of you have been programmed to cry wolf when there should be no reason for it.
Times have changed bros. These days they do exam at that level and pick people taking merit and quota into consideration. You may argue it but that is the reality as shown in the selection of the federal perm secs.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has approved the appointment of 21 new Permanent Secretaries.

A statement issued by Abdulrasheed Haruna Imrana, Director Communications in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, said the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), gave the approval after a competitive examination.

The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, SAN, GCON has approved the appointment of new Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service.

Haba! At this age, you ought to know that appointment of Permanent Secretaries is based on principle of federal character and is not political in nature. Those names you thought are Osinbajo's kinsmen are replacing several of his kinsmen that have retired.

In a nutshell, Perm Sec as fondly called represent each of the 36 States in the mainstream of Federal Civil Service.

From the list I'd say the top 21 are the best from their states otherwise some would be more represented than others.

Osibanjo won't be like Buhari (that held Ministers list for far too long because he had no choice as the 36 states must be represented). There can only be one Buhari
