Hi all. We are at the NVC stage of our U. S family based preference category. F1(Single adult children of U. S Citizen). We got our welcome letter early June paid all the visa fees and filled the DS 260 form online. and by the month end of June we submitted all documents to NVC. I read from a forum on Visa journey that the NVC usually write petitioners or beneficiaries on their Case complete. Those that have gone tru the experience, how long did it take to get case complete after submitting all documents to NVC? I created this thread for those going tru the NVC stage or who have already passed through the stage to share their experiences on the forum.

Note: the thread is for those going through the NVC processing or those that have already passed through it, for the family preference category.

@justwise, Pls sir, I beg u not to delete this thread, as it may help those who have just started their NVC processing ask questions on how to go about their case. As u know, our immigrant V. O on the immigrant visa section does not answer questions that has to do with NVC processing or how to go about filling forms at that stage. Good luck to all of us still waiting to join our folks in the states.

We are in the same ship. I'm an intending immigrant too (F4 category). I have already submitted my documents to NVC and I'm waiting to get a case complete too. All what u need to know is written in their site (travel.state.gov). It will take NVC 2months or 11 weeks max for them to review your documents and determine if u would get a case complete or a checklist for additional documents/correction. However, u indicated u submitted your documents by end of June, so u should get a case complete this month end or mid September max. Lastly, hope ur priority date is current? cos u can't be schedule for an interview till ur PD is current and moreover, F1 and F4 category had a retrogression on the recently released visa bulletin for the month of September hopefully, it should return to normalcy by the beginning of a new fiscal year next month.

Yes submitted month end, so by my calculations it's been 5weeks and they said wait 11weeks to hear from them. My PD is 2011. Honestly I don't understand how that Visa bulletin stuff works.

So u need to wait for another 6weeks. However, due to the large number of applicants in the family based visa preference and to control the influx of immigrants into the United States, the USCIS had decided to allocate a specific number of visas to each family based category and this visa numbers must not be exceeded in a fiscal year and that's d more reason applicants had to wait on queue for years before they can be eligible to apply for a visa. The visa bulletin is released between 7th and 15th of every month and it shows the movement of the priority dates of each category. So u need to follow up on the VB on their site. Lastly, your priority date is the day you file a petition to USCIS. They already reached December 2010 for F1 category but it retrogressed to May 2010 in the recently released VB for d month of September and most likely it will return to normalcy next month...

For real? It retrogressed to Jan 02? Is the September bulletin out? But on their site it's still August bulletin that is there. We don't need a retrogression Now ooo. sad cry. The many years of waiting is not easy at all.

Yeah was on fb1 category. Also used the childrens practice for my medicals. Wait time is 11 weeks max but you may get a case complete within 9weeks but pray nkt to get a checklist. Cus that will reset your time back to 11 weeks. If you are on visajourney i dropped my consulate review there. But overall its a done deal. But in my case i had my dna done like 2013 so that made it easier, wasnt asked for pictures or nothing.

Hi there,
I remember you form the first VO thread and slightlymad thread, your initial petition was 2009 rght.
Congrats.
I'm 2012 so I still have awhile to go.
Like someone already said September VB retrogressd for F1 but the explained that in the footnote. In October Bulletin it will return to Dec 22 2010. By October it's a new fiscal year so there will the new visa numbers so interviews can then be scheduled. So don't expect your PD to be current till Nov, Dec etc bulletins come out.
From what I've read on VJ journey it's typically 4 months after CC that you should get the interview letter.

Check the VJ thread
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/482530-f1-case-complete-and-waiting-for-visa-availability-part2/?page=127
It's very informative on different people's journeys across the world. Reading it can help you pass the time.

Lastly I have a few questions
When you got your welcome letter, what forms did you fill?

No wonder I recognised your username.
Saw it on VJ
I've been waiting so long I got on with my life jare. So busy with stuff.
I just keep tabs every now and then.
I hope you've settled down well.

Hi. Wow! u do remember me, from the first VO. Yes u are so right My first petition was 2008 filled by my step-dad but it wasn't approved so my mum filled again in 2011. Fast forward to 2017 June we got the welcome letter via email. It contained instructions from step1 to 6 on how to fill ur forms online, the DS261, pay Visa fees and then fill your ds 260 form online, and then send your supporting documents to NVC.

If u remember I asked the First V. O how I was going to add my kids to my case, that I am single, and have 2kids and I was told they could be added as "derivatives" under my case, so she immediately adviced me to contact NVC and inform them. So I scanned their birth certificate to my mom and my mom forwarded it immediately to NVC. Thank God I took the V.O's advice cos my kids were immediately added to my case and when the letter came their names were under my form. All the fees have been paid for us, they each had their own ds260 forms as well, so I filled all and printed the confirmation slips for records. we are just waiting to hear from NVC, to proceed to the next level.

No checklist by God's grace bro. My mom made sure she sent in all docs needed to NVC . She always extra careful when filling forms and sending to NVC so as not to make mistakes, cos she said any mistakes is further delay. Shes so anxious to have us with her. The immigration journey has not been easy.

Hi everyone. So its been a while I posted here. We got our case complete email on the 29th of sept. To God be the glory. Am just so happy that my mom sent in all the required documents and they didn't have to request additional documents, cos I hear that causes delays too. Hoping and praying to get an interview date soon.
