IPOB clown has arrived. Those stats are fake because your biafrat supreme commander didn't sign off. Who told I care if you go. Stop wailing and get your reps to push motion. I do care for reforms in Nigeria but call a spade a spade. The ports operate as intended you can import and export what ever through.
it your father and mother that are that C word you typed there, okay? Yes stay in Ibadam and cast aspirations and pull statistics from your anus. After all common sense is not common among zooths.

That's your own personal experience. And if you read my post you'd see where I talked about large vessels not being able to berth there. That is a widely known fact to anyone who works with a shipping company.

So you can as well ask your CFI agent about that as well.
honeychild:

This guy. Forced by whom? In 2016 I had to import some books from China. My shipper had both options. Onne and Lagos. I spoke to CFI a clearing agent based in Port Harcourt. They assured me I could import to Onne.

I chose to import to Lagos because I figured that all these Igbo importers who import to Lagos must have a reason for doing that. I had no experience in importation and was not going to take the risk.

What I am trying to say is that I personally found no reason why Onne is not being used.
Re: The Real Conspiracy Against The Eastern Seaports And Riverports by Amberon11: 9:28am On Aug 10, 2017
Lol, its not heresay. If you know anyone who has worked with a shipping company in PH do well to ask him or her and if they're being sincere you'll get a similar answer with what I wrote earlier.
shukuokukobambi:

Stop hiding behind what she wrote. Write your own and put verifiable links that show this policy of strangulation!! Nothing in her post indicates that. It's hearsay which I've never heard before and needs verification.

To show how wicked your heart is, you accused sick yaradua who spent less than 2 years of promoting the marginalization yet you didn't mention Jonathan who spent 5 years with Diezani as transport minister for sometime.

None of my business, had it been the obasanjo is Igbo, these minorities would have been screaming how Igbos hate them.
Even if onne is 100% functioning, i will prefer Igbos importing from Lagos.

Is like most of the illiterates here don't know what they call Freight quotes and cost. Some many factors contribute to high freight cost like distance, insurance, security of the vessel.

Look at the coast line of Lagos to Europe where most of the things are imported from look at the coastline of Calabar,Onne and Warri you will understand that the Eastern ports are inland ports closer to the rest of Africa But far to Europe,Asia and America where most goods and merchandise are imported. Lagos is more closer to Europe.

Besides the Eastern coastline to other parts of Africa and to Europe is along the Gulf of Guinea that is full of sea pirates along the coast of Somalia.

As a business man why would I not prefer to collect my goods from Lagos and transport through road or rail to other parts of Nigeria than incure a huge freight cost of ships coming down from Western axis down to the Eastern axis.

Why do you think Some business men import Cars and other things to Cotonou and Lome and then bring them through the land border to Nigeria. The Freight cost is simply cheaper because Cotonou and Lome are closer to Europe than Lagos so likewise is Lagos closer to Europe than Calabar,Warri and Onne.

As far as Nigeria is concerned Onne,Calabar and PH ports were constructed majorly for Export of Coal and Crude oil not for Imports.

People that have used Onne will tell you it's simply expensive because of freight cost.

If the FG wanted to marginalize the SS or SE they won't build the ports in the first place. Maybe they would transport the Crude oil to Lagos and then ship it to the World.

I used to believe all the marginalization story until I started trying to understand the real issues myself.

I don't have the time now, but when I do I will give you proper analysis complete with data on our ports and the usage. And you'll find that our leaders in the SE and SS are lying to us to cover for their own failures. The story of propping up Lagos ports is all falsehood. Infact , on some parameters, Onne port actually trumps both Apapa and Tin an Ports. Combined, Lagos ports control just 57% in tonnage terms while Delta and Rivers and Calabar ports control 43%.

Ask an Onitsha trader why he shipped his goods to Lagos and the only reason is that his agent who is from Anambra state is located in Lagos. There are ships going to all the ports. We just dont use it. Our minds are just fixated on Lagos.
Infact the best maintained and most organised port in Nigeria is Onne port and it is not much more expensive than the Lagos ports.

Lets stop this useless victim mentality.

Why didnt Jonathan build the IBAKA PORT?? Why didn't he dredge the Calabar River? Babangida and Abacha made sure LNG was built in Bonny. Jonathan couldn't put a stone on Brass LNG. We need to begin holding our own leaders responsible. This useless victim mentality is allowing us tolerate their uselessness.

Below are some statistics. Like I said, if I have time later, I can give you a clearer picture on many of these issues.

NB
And to think about it, shouldn't we be more interested in outward traffic (Exports) than Inward traffic (imports).
Delta and Onne control 90% of outward traffic which means both of these ports are very well equipped to ship goods out of the country which we should be looking to take advantage of by exporting our goods as against complaining about Lagos ports handling imports.
God bless you for this! Nothing kills a person's (or people's) problem solving abilities more than the constant harbouring of paranoid thoughts (e.g. every problem was intentionally created by my neighbours to punish me). Mr A has a simple headache and instantly believes his brother has 'jazzed' him. Now instead of getting simple panadol, he begins to run around in circles looking for prophets, pastors and juju priests to solve a very simple problem which could instantly have been solved with 2 tablets.

Nigeria can be likened to a feast where representatives of each tribe sits at the table to cut out as much cake as possible for their people. Whilst the leaders of other groups seem to do this diligently, the leaders from the SE and SE seem to care only about what they can scratch out for their personal pockets. And for almost 50 years, these greedy inept leaders have successfully manoeuvred their ways by deceiving the people that leaders of the 'other two big tribes' are responsible. Heck! I don't believe anyone or group goes to Abuja to plot and scheme how to marginalise or strangulate anybody; people rather go to Abuja to plot and scheme how they can get a larger chunk of the cake for their people.

The govt should try as much as possible to build at least two sea ports in the East where it is possible. They should even build airports for them so that this noise of marginalisation can stop. The noise too much. Let's see if they'll all go back to the east to do business like they have always claimed.

You are misdirecting yourself with these questions
The Status quo at the ports developed over time not overnight and at the dritcical moments in our history the bulk of our imports were from Europe. It is important to remember that imports may be measured in monetary value and also tonnage. It would be interesting to see the data but looking at our roads I do not see many vehicles or Trucks that are made in Asia even the Toyotas ets are American or European imports. Heavy machinery and industrial equipment for the oil industry was traditionally European or American. That was the situation until recently when we started importing more from China but by then the patterns have already been set and Lagos established first mover advantage which has led to a population explosion and the creation of the largest market. Humans are creatures of habit and the Lagos habit is firmly entrenched from the importer perspective. Wheteher we import more now in terms of tonnage from China would be interesting to find out but the market is firmly established in Lagos and that is where most importers want to be

I am not here to answer questions , do you feed me? Try and behave like an adult. The Ibaka claim is a one sided claim . I was alive and aware during Obasanjo's govenrment .Aba road was a single carriageway and I travelled that road several times. There was no Patani road and the Airforce Base used to be the PH airport. Budget in those days was to the order of 10 billion and had to be spread. Still he built that road to Enugu, and PH airport , Clearly the government decided on other priorities and there is always an opportunity cost to these choices .Govern ment is a continuum. If one government does not do it the next can. WHy did we build Abuja instead of a seaport or power plants or a rail network Government is hard and there will be opportunity costs.

Nigeria is a big place and everyone has complaints .What do they have in the North EAst from FG

You can keep ranting to console yourself but take note that as long as we can't import all manner of products through all our Eastern seaports, our desire and clamor for a separate nation will keep growing.

He'll ask the sams stupid set of questions 100s of times a day like broken record. It was Gowon who first skipped on port but he's obsessed with Obasanjo like deranged tribalist. He then skips over the decades of military rulers who didn't build the port. Then when you ask him about his useless sons of the soil he elected at NASS and Jonathan he doesn't know what to say. 16 years of wastedays opportunity. 5 years in office Jonathan didn't get this done but it's OK in his mind.

The funny thing the tribalist crybaby can't answer is why is it in Fulani Buhari government that government budgeted money for Ibom Port? He honestly feels this decades of government failure is a conspiracy. It's complete paranoia. The question could equally be asked why didn't north coupist bring more economic development to the North.

The way this dishonest guy excuses PDP for not building port is disgusting. These IPOB are just cretin excuse makers. He even cut import details to his story to make it about Obasanjo instead of Gowon. His useless reps we sleeping instead of building coalition to push this through. The got NDDC but could do a port the benefits multiple regions in NE, NC SS and SE?

Ibaka Port was never constructed, purportedly on the advice of the then Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and current Chairman of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) – Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

This is atypical weakness and deceit characterizing the senseless IPOB shinenighan.

Why are you online barking at the Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba and every other person when the current and one of the most powerful serving ministers, Rotimi Amaechi, is a full blooded Igbo man and a SSner?

Why didn't you mobilize with elders of Igbo land and SS to strategize with him on geopolitical needs while he's in power? Unfortunately, you won't. Rather, you'll court and defend Bishop the drug lord for convenience and yet cut your own nose to spite Amaechi's face, and still come here to rant about. Guess what? With this kind of thinking, you will end up raising children who will be complaining like this you are doing to their own children too in the future.

EDIT: What stops IPOB from having agreement with Ohaneze, ASPANDA and other trading blocks to use ➕ of One, PH, and Calabar ports? Is it impossible to influence, after influencing a sit at home order?

Stop grumbling and throwing tantrums, think and strategize.

What conspiracy are you guys talking about?

You mean Yoruba leaders woke up one morning and decide to truncate success of those eastern ports, are they responsible for the corruption bedevilling the NPA for not dredging the shallow ones, what procedural steps have Yorubas initiated that stopped shippers to use the eastern ports?

In a country where billions has been spent on electricity, roads, hospitals and other social amenities with absolutely nothing to show for it, the average ones are stifled with corruption, some bastards are blaming Yorubas?

Majority of pigbos are just cursed with envy, its not our fault that the British decided to build a fairly good port in Lagos, at least they were in calabar where they transport your forefathers as slaves before moving to Lagos, so how are Yorubas also responsible for this? Lagos state is building another one, Ondo and Ogun are about to start Olokola, when ships start berthing blame Yorubas as usual without holding your worthless leaders responsible.

You guys won't blame the failures of basic infrastructure on Nigeria but Yorubas, it's a well known fact that your useless uncles truncated the working system we had before this unitary government.

And to that old fool 'patience' Ibadan was the second most populous city in Nigeria during the regional system, no city was her equal, your fathers and uncles literally had their lives shaped there, any rot in Ibadan was due to migration to Lagos as the federal capital, Yoruba held Ibadan as their first and Lagos second at that period of time, and as it stands today none of your useless hamlets in the east can compare with Ibadan.

Bastards
I love you

Ereolamide:

Bastards
