Good morning NLers

The thread on the sorry state of Ikogosi warm spring resort came as a rude shock to me. I worked in Ekiti prior to the 2014 election and I know the facility was renovated by the administration of Dr Kayode Fayemi 5/6yrs ago.
I did some digging online and I was able to find pictures of the renovation if Ikogosi and it's access roads under Fayemi of APC.

Long story short, it takes little or no effort to destroy what has been built. That is why we as the electorates must open our eyes wide and differentiate between a good leader and the empty barrel. Enjoy the thread

Fayemi commissioned the renovated Ikogosi

http://theeagleonline.com.ng/fayemi-commissions-redeveloped-ikogosi-resort/

.Fayemi, who restated the commitment of his administration to develop all the tourism corridors in the state to make Ekiti a foremost destination of choice for investors and tourists from within and outside Nigeria, said the second phase of the redevelopment would involve the introduction of a games reserve that would occupy about 10,000 hectares of land, a three- star hotel, a golf course and apartments among others
The first phase of redeveloped Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort was commissioned on Saturday for use by tourists almost 10 years after it was abandoned.
The commissioning, which also featured the public presentation of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s latest book: “Regaining the Legacy”, and decoration of Ekiti Cultural ambassadors, was witnessed by a mammoth crowd of tourists and citizens of the state.
Commissioning the project, Fayemi said the redevelopment was done because his government “cannot allow the God-given endowment to be a waste”.
Fayemi, who restated the commitment of his administration to develop all the tourism corridors in the state to make Ekiti a foremost destination of choice for investors and tourists from within and outside Nigeria, said the second phase of the redevelopment would involve the introduction of a games reserve that would occupy about 10,000 hectares of land, a three- star hotel, a golf course and apartments among others.
Other highlights of the event was the presentation of the governor’s third book since assuming office.
The book delves into Fayemi’s personal account of his intention for Ekiti State people, his perceptions about government and his experience.
Fayemi said one of the objectives of publishing the book was to broaden the audience “beyond the catchment of those who were physically present at the various fora where the papers were delivered”.
Baring his mind on the various discussions he has had on moving Nigeria forward, the governor urged Nigerians to join hands to succeed and surmount the challenge of having a society that doesn’t care and create one that puts forward the prosperity of the citizenry.
He said: “On our part, we are committed to building a society in which no one is left behind because we recognize that as Martin Luther King said, we are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.
“Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
He revealed his dream of a time when future generations would bless “our memories long after we are no more, because with the help of God, we did well to guide our society along the path of peace and sustainable development”.
The reviewer of the book and Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Nation newspaper, Sam Omatseye, said whoever has read Fayemi’s book, Out of the Shadows, won’t be surprised at the tremendous change made by the governor in Ekiti State in the last three years.
Omatseye added that Fayemi fought out of the shadow for a legacy that speaks to the endurance of memories, adding that the governor has not stopped letting people know “that he has done good”, especially with the different projects carried out by his administration.
While presenting the book, a former Governor of the state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, recounted that his administration between 1999 and 2003 did make some renovation work on ikogosi but could not complete it because his administration was “manipulated out of office”.
Adebayo said there is the need for Ekiti State people to re-elect Fayemi because of the importance of continuity, which he opined would ensure the continuation of the projects already started as well their sustenance.
Speaking on behalf of Ikogosi community, Aaron Adeniji, said the redevelopment of the resort has given “a pass mark for this administration, a credit for the governor and distinction for God”.

These are things that could have augmented the lean revenues from the Federal allocation.
This is disappointing from Fayose or should we blame Ekiti people?

trash

When propaganda pops up, be sure to know it is one.

Fayemi just like the asshole named Ajimobi in Ibadan are just two sides of the same coin.

in their first tenure, they acted like saints and was trying to impress. They continued owing salaries and claimed that infrastructure was of more priority.

Oyo guys were fools to reelect the asshole named Ajimobi, but Ekiti people were wise to see behind the deception of Fayemi.

was is the end result?

In Ibadan, people are dying of starvation, salaries are being owed , no money to even enjoy the fine roads, hunger everywhere.

in Ekiti after they booted out the Fayemi asshole, No wonderful infrastructure, but people are not hungry and starving.

Op, which state would you prefer as a state civil servant?

In Nigeria you can't have a perfect state ThT flows with milk and honey!!

Sacrifices must be made!!!

Blame Ekiti People. It is obvious they prefer handouts to working and earning diligently. The noise maker governor is owing the state workers backlog of salary arrears.

They should enjoy the result of their sycophancy while it lasts.

Fayose only has fans among the semi-literate/illiterate thugs like himself. He's a clown that's only concerned with making a fool of himself on the media. From rolling up his trousers to put out a fire himself (when his mates are starting emergency fire services in other states), to cutting pomo in the market, he has always been involved in one ridiculous stunt or the other to gain the approval of the majority simple minded Ekiti people. Since he started his second term as governor, he has been wasting money on one useless flyover that is still yet to be completed. When I was in 100L I saw them starting work for that nonsense project and I'm in 400L now and its not still done. What is the use of a flyover in a place where there is no traffic congestion?? It was, and is still an avenue for him to loot funds.

Fayemi was a progressive, but sadly people cannot have a leader they don't deserve. This is why I say Nigeria will continue to be a shithole until we change our mentality. Because a leader of a country is an accurate representation of the average mindset of its people. The current federal government is somewhere 'in between' extremely corrupt and honest/progressive. Isn't that the state of Nigerian people today? We still have a lot of defenders of corruption, a lot of dishonest and greedy people, but we also have people who have 'woken up' and genuinely want a better nation. We will get there.

Back to the OP. I sincerely hope Ekiti people will wake up soon. They have always been touted as the most educated but that is a GIANT lie, because educated people will not be clamouring for a governor who stays in the back of pickup trucks to distribute cheese balls to kids and rice to adults. Invest money on infrastructure, education, and watch every other thing you need fall in place. Its better to spend 20 million naira to send people to school who will in turn take part in the development of the state, than giving the same 20 million to the association of beer sellers like Gov Fayose does

Hmmm

This is a fair observation but seems destined to make THE VERY SAME mistakes Fayemi made that cost him victory.

These kinds of projects are good. (one would rather prefer the easing up of business activities in the state and the creation of opportunities for PRIVATE organisations to undertake such - governments are not well suited to devising and running hospitality facilities)

The Crux of the matter is: Is there food in the stomachs of the populace while such is being built?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves and repeat this nonsense in 2019.

Fayemi COULD SIMPLY have looked out for the physical and material condition of Ekiti People WHILE seeking actively to provide proper physical infrastructure the dividends of which will kick in and further move the generality of the impoverished populace out of a dependence on 'stomach infrastructure' to appreciation and enjoyment of physical infrastructure.
