I just got my IELTs result LRSW 8.5, 8.5, 8, 7 and I already have my ECA. I have started registering for express entry but it got to a point I was asked about the Language test result form or certificate number, does this refer to my candidate number or I have to wait til I get my cartificate from the British Council?

You have to wait. But I have gotten so much experience, I know how to get the test report number without the test report.. Lool.

Yes. You wait till you get your certificate. The number is called " Test Report Form Number" below the certificate to the right.
Are u still in dis wahala of getting an unnecessary reference letter?
LOL....na real wahala...i just want to add at least one work experience now...abi. If i have worked almost 14 years and finding it hard to prove any, isn't that a shame? It's probably just self validation. I have taken out all other work experiences but since i have business registration certificate, i thought i could just add that one experience.

Babe it won't mean anything.. It counts to nothing... Like it's as insignificant as d last four letters in "queue"
Hahaha. Can't stop laughing. I guess Canadianfly has outed me already. Yes, people could say I'm "nerdish/geekish". Maybe
I'm an engineer anyways. And looking forward to getting this PR thing. I should have started long ago, but somehow my motivation (regarding PPR specifically) hasn't just been there. Maybe it's cos I feel way too comfortable where I am. Now sha. I'm pushing it.
Congrats to everyone on getting their IELTS score. Re-marking is definitely the way to go if you scores aren't enough. From my survey on this thread most scores are revised upward after remarking.
These are my tips on IELTS:
As you know by now, IELTS has four components: Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading.
As with any other language exam, the intent is to assess your language abilities, and since language involves all these components you have to do each in order to pass.
What are the useful tips when practicing?
Listening: You should use IELTS websites available online for listening exercises. www.mini-ielts.com is a very useful tool. Similarly, there are useful listening exercises on youtube, e.g.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vzxrUW-4TU. The idea is to practice as many times as possible in order to get a feel of the exam. You must not tire in your attempts at maximising your scores. But what do you want to do while listening in order to improve?
1. Make sure to guess the answers before the audio begins playing. When they say read questions 1 -5, etc. Read the questions and guess the answers. That way, you have an idea what's coming into the gap. Noun? Verb? Number? After several trials, you might be able to guess the correct answer before it's said (rarely happens though)
2. Put up a positive outlook before listening. Maybe even mock the speaker in your mind, or question their motives. Ensure you maintain a generally lively attitude while listening for answers. This makes sure you are not distracted by anxiety.
3. Listen for the answers! It's not really necessary to listen and understand the conversation. Of course, a general understanding is necessary. But a complete understanding is irrelevant.
4. Note that the answers ALWAYS come chronolgically, i.e. they will say the answer to number 4 before they say the answer to number 5. So, once you get the answer for number 3, start listening out for the answer to number 4. And not just listen out for the answer, listen out also for the context.
If you use mini-elts.com very well and you get repeatedly good scores, then you should be able to get a 9 in the listening. That's simply because the tests on that site are a notch higher in difficulty than the tests on IELTS.
Reading You can use the same website for reading exercises. Practice is of course also key here. Make sure to practice often. What steps should you take to improve?
1. The answers often, but not always, come chronologically on the reading tests. So, if you find the answer to number 4, you may need to look a little higher up in the comprehension to find the answer to number 3. If you are pretty sure that the questions are coming in chronologically, then don't expect to find the answers to question 5 below that of question 6.
2. Read the questions first before reading the comprehension. And if you can, just scan the comprehension for the answers while reading only lightly.
3. One major thing on the main IELTS exam is that the question is ALMOST ALWAYS a paraphrase from the comprehsion. So, look for answers in the comprehsion that are also paraphrases.
4. Be careful with absolute words such as always, most, all, never, etc. Once you see this in the "TRUE, NOT GIVEN, FALSE" sections, look twice and be sure you are choosing the correct answer.
Speaking For speaking, you can use YouTube mostly. There are a lot of speaking assessments on YouTube where candidates are assessed by examiners and the corresponing IELTS score is stated. I'm sure you'll find many of them useful. Just type in the search bar "IELTS speaking". This is one of such
Similarly, you want to practice some speaking in the confines of your home. BE familiar with terminologies to use in the areas of Food, House, Hobbies, Cooking, Work, Your Hometown etc, which almost always make up chunks of Part 1 IELTS speaking. There is a YouTube channel called "Oxford Online English" which went into a lot of details about it. This is one of their videos:
Writing Well, for writing you just wanna try your hand on a lot of writing samples. This site has a number of samples you can look at for comparison: www.ielts-exam.net
The chief thing to note with writing is that you need to learn how to organize your thoughts and then express them in paragraphs. You also need to put a template in your head, which you can follow. An example could be:
Paragraph 1 Introduction My Opinion Summary of First Reason and Second Reason
bigfido: For the dude that passed the ielts that is complaining bitterly, please be thankful to God.
I have written ielts 7 times. My journey started since 2015. My Wes has been ready since then, but because of age and ielts, I have been falling short. I wrote ielts and got moderate score. I didn't know what was required then, since then, it has been a battle for me. My last 3 scores were 8,7.5,7,6... 7.5,7.5,7.5,7... 7.5,8,7,7..after the 6th one in June, I swore I was done with this dream. I had sunk so much money into this. I have gone to dubai to write celpip, went to dubai again for new brunswick info session, spent money 2ice on SINP and all to no avail. I was frustrated and devastated. July, I told my spouse to let me try ielts one more time. Even thou she didn't want to see me hurt again, she let me have my way. As for her she was done. She wanted the dream closed and buried. I don't blame her. So I paid and decided to change venue, this time I went to Ibadan, meaning I was spending more again. Then something changed. I prayed a lot about it. For catholics amongst us, please pray the prayers for exams to St Joseph of Cupertino. I went into the hall, did my best and left. I couldn't even beat my chest about my performance. I have been humbled by Ielts. But I kept on praying. I am not going to fail the 7th time. In between that time, a stranger in Lere2017 on this platform came into my life. She needed something from me. I actually wasn't in the mood to talk to her (reply her pm) but I did. We got talking and I told her my story. She was touched and she also truly prayed for me seriously. She will send me messages almost everyday telling me how much I was in her prayers and letting me know all is well. Yesterday midnight was the most awkward time of my life.. From 12 am till 7 am this morning, I was refreshing ielts website to check my result. The fear and panic was too intense. When I didn't see anything, I decided to go to their office to pick up my result.. That drive was filled with swallowing stone like saliva. On the bridge, I decided to refresh it again.. My result was there. My soul left my body and my eyes became blurry. I didn't know what I was reading but I knew I was reading.. L-9, R-8,S-8,W-7
I felt water swell up in my eyes. I understood what it is to look for something within your grasp and yet not have it. I am still basking in this euphoria so I can't real explain my ordeals. So please if you have it on a platter of gold, don't come here to rub it in on people that are going through a lot of even have a slice of what you have. For me the journey starts soon. I now have 450 points. I pray we all get to the promise land. Thank you @lere2017 I appreciate you. That's the beauty of this thread. Goodluck to everyone. I apologise for the long post and misspellings
