Advisory: Mate, stop spouting misleading information! People rely on information here and when you matter of factly spread misinformation their applications get rejected and they end up out of pocket! Exit checks are very much in place! The information comes from the airlines systems and you're flagged as having exited the moment your boarding pass is scanned as you board the plane. Instead of telling us what you "know for a fact" (because you don't), why don't you do a bit of research? Kalabariprinces: My application was submitted the same day at Ikeja and I haven't heard from them also, however, my first application was faster. Anyway, I will update the forum accordingly once I get a decision mail from them. |

justwise: So are we saying here that if the Sister should not apply if she has a genuine reasons and strong documents that will secure her a visa? Are we saying application will be judge base on her brother antecedent? Tge system with these people does not workike you view it,the sister is an individual and the brother is another individual, for the fact the brother commits a crime does not affect the Sister in anyway. what you could have advised was to simply declared the past contact with her brother on her new application, the decision to issue her a visa is at the ECO discretion 1 Like |

Brightingsus: It is not mandatory you give the passport number of all tge people you mentioned on your application,it is not mandatory you give their current address as they might have changed address or you might have lost contact with them. the only time you are compel to give the full details is when the invites originate from any of the mentioned person.....Probability are that she might not have established a contact with the uncle until recently,it does not stop her from getting an invite from the same uncle..she should go ahead and get her invite from the said uncle and disclose that her brother is also in UK based on her previous application.getting a visa for her on this occasion is then left for the ECO and if she is refused again, she can always reapply having set the record straight |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 9:25pm On Aug 10, 2017 |
Solatium: No one is discouraging the applicant. If you say everyone should resort to the ECO's judgment, why then do we have this forum? This forum is to guide people, based on peoples' tangible experiences, so every applicant makes informed decisions. It's up to the applicant to weigh their options and decide for themselves. A lot of people that have been refused were not adequately informed on how to come close to the mind of the ECO. 1 Like |

adoox2: 1.Her brother's immigration status will come back to haunt her and for the fact that she failed to mention her in-law in her previous application will also be an issue. If she was applying with her hubby and they can comfortably afford the trip it would have been a different case |

Brightingsus: That is why is not one size fits all,the advise that worked for A does work against B sometimes,I still believe she a chance of securing a visa now or at a later application, all she need to do is to come clean which she has been able to do in her Question |

Please what the max response time one should expect of a standard visit application that was submitted 8th June. Though it dint meet up the initial primary intends of July. Everyday tracking is still not recognized. Any timing? thank you |

TatPat: 12 weeks (3 months)?? Nawa! |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by TatPat: 11:50am On Aug 11, 2017 |
Brightingsus: Abi? That's what it says in the uk processing times for applications done from Nigeria ... 100% of applications were processed within 60 working days and that was in May 2017, they haven't updated for June and July, which might even be worse. Someone on nairaland got his own after 45 working days, then @yommieyommie got his children's passports after about 39 working days I think. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 12:26pm On Aug 11, 2017 |
TatPat: Nah, it doesn't say 'working' days. It says 3 weeks, which is 15 working days (a week being 5 working days). Those who got a decision on their applications for extremely longer would be tailored to their own individual circumstances. |

Advisory: I'll use whatever language I want to. You were going around matter of factly giving misinformation, including using phrases like "know for a fact" (when it turned out you didn't). Then you still argued the case when you were told otherwise. 1 Like |

Brightingsus: Please go and check the processing time for May 2017 and the text on the page, here is a link https://visa-processingtimes.homeoffice.gov.uk/y/lagos-nigeria/visits-visas/general-visit-6-months-or-less of the processing time for applications from Lagos Nigeria for the month of May 2017 for general visit visas(standard visa). Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 2:29pm On Aug 11, 2017 |
TatPat: I already did check even before I responded to you, even before your original post. Am just saying the site says 100% of applications were decided within 60 days and not 60 working days for same May. For eg, a week is 7 days but 5 working days. Haba.....

Hello sabi people, Please can one month proof of rent be used to invite someone to the uk? As for utility bills, is TV license enough? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 5:42pm On Aug 11, 2017 |
fpeter: Personally I wouldn't give TV licence a pass as utility as it's not really. Paying for a TV licence at a property does not really mean you live there. It does not even mean you have the right to live there. For eg, I was not paying for TV licence at my former address and I was dodging it. When I bought my new TV, TV licensing got the prompt that I bought a new tv and they stormed my address. I avoided them for about two times until I finally decided to pay. Now I no longer live there. If you have Council Tax bill, that's perfect. Utility bills are mostly Water, Electricity and Gas because they are the utilities provided for you which you 'utilize' at a given address. 1 Like |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 5:55pm On Aug 11, 2017 |
fpeter: Hey fPeter, I think I remember you from your PMs. If your circumstances have not changed there are some markers to look out for. First, one month proof of rent can be ok. By proof of rent I suppose you mean rental payment Anyway rental payments are not very very necessary as long as you have your rental agreement for your UK sponsor. A rental agreement is stronger than a rental payment receipt. Nonetheless you would need to keep an eye on the address on your husband's bank statements. If his bank statements over a period has a particular address and then the one month rent proof says another address, you would have to explain this. This does not mean you can't move address but you have to explain any anomalies. |
