Let every mother do what she feels is best for her child. After all, it is her child. But pls let's ask God for wisdom to train them right because at the end of the day, it's the mother that takes the most blame if the child turns out badly and the father takes the glory if the child turns out excellently. That's society for you. All in all, mummies benefit or suffer most from their kids. I pray our children make us proud but we all have our part to play. If you don't believe in spanking or flogging, find other effective means to instill discipline in them. Flogging isn't a must but discipline is, please. We owe it to these children, the society and ourselves as parents. Some spoilt kids sometimes turn around and attack their parents. See Anini who bit off his mother's ear at the point the firing squad were going to shoot him for armed robbery. He said his mother didn't correct him firmly when he stole in childhood. We will raise godly children as God helps us and we help ourselves. 23 Likes |

ebonychic18:If you check the post I responded to, I was responding to the fact that some private schools still flog. I know the issue started with toddlers, but talking about schools in general was what made me share my own experience ma'am. And the chill pill came in with you pitying the teacher that would flog your ward. No other intention intended. 4 Likes |

sassyangel1:Punish him, take away his toys, lock him up in a room. She doesn't mind. But DONT BEAT!!!. Was my understanding of that post. Maybe you thought she meant a teacher that does all that? Please assimilate a written post properly before lashing out. Why shouldn't a teacher explore other means of discipline than use the cane? If a child injures yours wouldn't it be sensible to ask the parents to foot the medical bill? Or you are so sadistic that you prefer the child is beaten instead? An eye for an eye I see. 9 Likes |

It's okay o. I wanted to post when this issue got raised but I chose to waka pass cos we take things too personal here. The truth is good social behaviour is one of the indicators of milestones achieved in toddler. If your child smashes things, bites, hits and bangs, it is highly unacceptable and that child still needs a lot of work. If he continues till age 3 or 4 he might actually need a therapist. True. These are indicators that all isn't too well. I have 2 kids of opposite temperaments, the older boy is very playful but calm.... Just like the dad. The younger girl is not too playful but very temperamental. Very. Now I was raising my first in a hard way, I wanted my child to be well behaved and this boy was vanishing before my eyes. He's playful yes but he would never hit or bite or scratch. Then I chilled and gave him attention and constructive play and he became this big boy overnight. The younger one on the other hand, tough cookie but I've learnt not to hit. It hardly ever works. So we worked on her listening skills. It wasn't easy but I'm reaping the rewards now. Last night when she was about to start, I just said "don't start, don't even think about it" and she walked away sulking. When I need her to sleep, I talk to her, it's time to go to bed now, let's close our eyes and snooze. She grumbles and sometimes whine but she knows I have no room for that. Sometimes I resort to using my 2 fingers, that's like once in 2-3 weeks. Compared to when her brother was growing up I don't have a single cane in the house. The brother is 5 now, there are some things he does that warrants belting, I roll till its just a bit and we have a go. This happens like once in a month or so. When he does something I have repeatedly warned him against. We thought he had a heart defect and everyone looks to me to spoil or over pamper him but I didn't. Now from a teacher's point of view. I have taught all ranges. I beat shege out of the secondary school students cos they can like to give attitude, so dem kukuma fear me,but I can say none ever failed my course. I can never beat cos you failed or are yet to understand. Give me attitude and you'll see the other side of me. Then I taught Pry 5 and the kids loved me but one day I got too emotional and punished them, not beating sef and I totally forgot them there. I was pregnant with my first then. The next day, a boy's mother came to fight me but when she saw my state, she kukuma chill. I apologized and till date I feel so bad. Then I taught 5 year olds in a school where beating was forbidden, it was there I finally figured out that the kids that are used to being beaten at home won't listen until you beat cos they won't take you serious, until you beat them. And the kids that listened were the ones their parents actually spoke to. Those were the well behaved ones, cos they're used to listening. Then I taught 2-3 year olds, which is the age range of kids we're discussing now and I can tell you, don't beat that child! As a teacher the couple of times I smacked a child was because he was bullying others after much talk.....like 2 months of talk and the day I gave him a good smack and told him if he ever hit anyone then I would do it to him too, he stopped and began reporting to teachers. At the end of the day, do what's best for you and your child. 49 Likes 7 Shares |

Coldfeet: Pls, coldfeet don't explain wat we'v decided to end except u wana create anoda btw u n i. Yes, answer to ur question is an eye for an eye. I ain't gonna take any medical fee rather I'm gonna give my child d same weapon to use back on the bully while I wait for the parent and then we'll see wer it rolls from there. Cos as u take carry ur pikin 4 belle Na so I carry my own. I'v experienced both types of birth so don't think ur child will be punished while my child will be in excruciating pain and marks. 19 Likes 1 Share |

Aborder post. How many of you moms with rambunctious kids are willing to work on them? It's not a day thing, not weeks, not even months for some. It's something continuous till age 5 and then your work is done. My kids aren't perfect o, neither are the children I teach but they know acceptable social behavior. |

zaynie: I vividly remember wen school was still in session, I took my kids to their school bus . Only 4 me to hear kposaaaa from a little boy to a little girl sitting beside him for no jst reason . U need to see the way the driver (an elderly man) gave the boy a smack on his laps and warned him. I was kinda shocked because I don't knw wat d little girl must v done to warrant such slap on the face n I was kinda relaxed cos I knew my children r in the right school. I'm a Protestant buh my children attend a catholic school (I so love the way they lovingly handle children there). From 1st to 3rd term my children never came home wth blows on their eyes or scratches on any part of their body. 5 Likes |

Reviews (I have had people who delivered there and they gave excellent reviews but this was like 2 years ago) pls I would appreciate current info. 5. Costs 6.Any other information necessary. Pls don't mind my plenty questions 1.Go on Tuesday's 2.Go with your husband for blood donation and 17,000 as your first deposit 3.At d first visit, after the first deposit, a folder will be open for you, HIV test will b conducted and a sample of your blood will be collected to run series of test which you will collect d results on your second visit. You will also go for your first scan. All these is after the matron has finished checking your vitals. They will then book u for your antenatal. Second visit, u pay 13,200. After delivery, you pay 19,000(for vd) or(79,000)for Cs depending. 4.Used them last year, and their service is good but you must b patient with dia protocols. I think this is it for now. U are free to ask me any more question. All the best. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Balance is key. Their are stages, their are extremes. Accidents occur, doesn't mean a child is a bully, beating your children doesn't mean they won't turn out to be bullies. The grown up kids (grade Sch and secondary school) who bullied others the most, where those who were bullied at home too. Using cane on a toddler is much, doesn't mean using cane on a child above 5 is too much. There is child abuse, so many of us have normalized this. Beating doesn't always = discipline. Disciplining ones child is a must, disciplining a child can be done different ways. Many of us have been abused and conditioned to see it as normal. At a stage what they need is smacking (smacking is a form of beating) at another stage smacking won't do. Using violence to stop violence doesn't always work. 8 Likes |

I think it's very unfair to issue an ultimatum to schools/teachers that : no one should beat my child If your child is violent! There's a huge difference BTW hyperactive and violence in children. Your child can't go about landing other children slaps, biting them or throwing objects at them while you seat in your high chair screaming "don't beat my child" . A teacher should spank a violent child. Discipline and train your child properly before sending them to school. Teachers, other children should not be at risk or fear because your special, violent, child that can't be spanked is in their class. Ps: child in my post refers to any child above 3 years. 33 Likes |

The other side of the coin, when can a teacher spank? I'll be mad if a teacher spanks my child because : She didn't do her homework Failed at classwork Was dozing off in class We are owing school fees Throwing normal childish tantrums. Refusal to eat. Vomited Messed up his pants or body Still reading. . . 4 Likes |

Raincolour:Don't get me wrong madam! I was pointing out issues on both posts. Lifted hands said don't beat my child. Sassy came and said she should listen to why her child was beaten before jumping to conclusions and her second post where she mentions also fuming at the thought of another child injuring hers. Thus my asking which is sensible? Revenge on the erring child or asking the erring child parents to foot the "medical bill (assuming it got to that) of the I injured child? Text has been taken out of proportion in both posts. Moreover the topic was of toddlers!!!! Not teenagers or youths! So how can a teacher beat a toddler? And we justify it? Taken many children are erratic in behaviours but it's all a phase. The school and teacher should be responsible for the childrens safety in school! So one active toddler doesn't injure his or her mates. The key word here is BEATING A TODDLER! no reason is good enough in my opinion. By the way when next you want to partake in a heated argument be bold to use your regular moniker! Don't be a coward who hides behind a moniker that only comes out when there's fight.
