There is difference if she and her family just decided to fast without being told by the invisible voice or someone. To be honest with you, that inner mind or voice is d shaytan, he's d one who whispers dat fast into her mind trying to lead her into bidah(innovation). I'm not saying it's haraam to engage in fasting as long as you wish to. Her action is akin to bidah, coz she( her inner mind) is prescribing what is not allowed to her, it even give her d number of fast and engaging her family into d fast.

An inner mind or voice can be instincts, or a way of talking to oneself.

For example something good happens to me, and my mind tells me to do sadaqa as a way of gaining Allah's Favour or saying Alhamdulilah nothing wrong with that.

Inner mind or invisible voice doesn't necessarily mean jinn whisperings.

And her family decides to join her, that's alright.

Fasting can be done for different reasons, it's not just during Ramadan or mondays and Thursday. Fasting is a form of dua

And she should not make it a habit of fasting after every bad dream but a one time thing. because then it becomes problematic.
