Olateju Oyeleye was an engineer, broadcaster and skilled manager of men and resources. He started the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) with his friend in the late fifties. After studying engineering in the UK, he joined a broadcasting station, on his arrival in Nigeria. He rose to become the General Manager of the Western Nigerian Television - Western Nigeria Broadcasting Services (WNTV-WNBS), the first television station in Africa. During his tenure, the coverage of the station was significantly expanded. From there he joined Total Nigeria Plc as the General Manager, from where he rose to become the Group Executive Director, of the downstream oil company. Under his watch, several of its subsidiaries such as Nigerian Gas Cylinder Manufacturing Company (NGCMC), Ibadan; Total Industries Ltd. Koko; Total Agrik Ltd., Olokoto (now Yakoyo Agrik Ltd.) and Rhone-Total Nigeria Ltd, were developed. Unfortunately, the NGCMC closed down several years later, due to several constraints. He retired from Total in 1992, to establish his own engineering and management consulting firm, and Yakooyo Agrik Farms. He died on July 8, 2013 at the age of 89 years. In 1958, Engr Olateju Oyeleye and Chief G.O. Aiwereoba formed the Nigerian Society of Engineers in London, England. After several meetings, the inaugural meeting on the Nigerian Society of Engineers was held at the Nigerian house in London, in February that same year. 3 Likes |

laudate: @laudate Thanks for the info in Itele shoes on pages 123 and 130... nice thread! Olumide Wole Madariola also established the biggest ultra-modern shoe factory in Africa in Lagos in 2008 named Fut Conceptus at Coker-Orile geared for the export market. Yiko Deen Footwear is also owned by a 28-year-old by the name of Atunde Olayinka. The company has produced boots for the Nigerian Army and Police. Another guy is Shoe Speed by Abiodun Folawiyo. I had done a lot of research over the past 15 years of innovative inventors and manufacturers and I compiled their names and to my surprise, the Yoruba and other Nigerians are very enterprising! Some people falsely think Ibos are the only ones making shoes, cloths, fabrication of equipment in Aba or Nnewi, but this is the biggest lie. Maybe because Ibos brag or make a lot of noise and the Yoruba, Idoma, Edo, Hausa, etc, don't make a noise for the purpose of validation is the reason some people have this false illusion. I will upload pictures and info from my database on Nigerians from SW who are major shoe manufacturers, fabricators who own multi-billion Naira companies and are quietly making money without bragging, bespoke suit and cloths makers, manufacturer of Armored Personnel Carriers in since 2013 in Ogun State [Proforce Ltd which is owned by Mr. Adetokunbo Ogundeyin, and they have supplied the Nigerian Army and other countries with their APC vehicle like PROFORCE 2]. Even in Ghana, there is an indigenous car maker of full Ghanaian origin, so nobody or nation is handicapped mentally and creatively if there is focus! I respect the innovativeness of Yoruba people and more can be done even if the Yoruba have their own country which I estimate would just be slightly bigger than Sierra Leone in Area or land mass, but the new country will be a major force in Africa and internationally. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Konquest: Your input on this thread would be most welcome. I do agree with a lot of things you said. In fact some of the companies you mentioned, have already been profiled on this thread. Fut Concepts set up by Olumide Wole-Madariola has been profiled on page 215. Am surprised he doesn't have his own website yet though, considering the volume of business he does. Yiko Deen by Atunde Olayinka has also been featured on page 213. Shoespeed owned by Biodun Folawiyo can be found on page 133. Proforce established by Adetokunbo Ogundeyin has also been discussed extensively on quite a few pages e.g. pages 9, 15, and 84 It would be really nice if you could share and upload information on companies, that are yet to be featured on this thread. Thanks again. cc: Kn23h 5 Likes 1 Share |

laudate:^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ There is also a chain of restaurants in Atlanta, Georgia called Buka1 and Buka2. They are both owned by Babs Abraham, a Nigerian of Yoruba ancestry who previously lived and worked in the UK before moving to the U.S. Babs Abraham left the shores of Nigeria 17 years ago! Buka1 was opened in 2005 while Buka2 which opened in 2012 on Riverdale Rd, Atlanta won the award for the BEST RESTAURANT in the ENTIRE United States in 2014 with the support of the American government! Buka1 is mainly frequented by white customers while Buka2 is very popular with blacks including Nigerians. Nigerian delicacies such as amala, gbegiri and ewedu, pounded yam with efo riro, egusi, ogbono, asaro, ila alasepo, pepper soups - and suya! He says business has been profitable for him in the U.S. and he visits Nigeria regularly to order for most of his ingredients. CLASSIC entrepreneur! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Abayomi Sonuga is known to many people, as a dealer of a wide variety of high class cars, under his brand name, Bras Motors. But very few folks are aware that he also owns and sells boats, ferries and all kinds of watercraft, under the auspices of his firm Bras Marine and Yacht Services’ Limited. Two years ago, he partnered with a few friends to host the Annual Boat and Yacht Exhibition at Bay Lounge, Lekki, Lagos. His company is poised to ensure that clients, have access to brand new boats and cruisers, with top class after sales services and genuine spare parts. Sonuga's company, which started operations a year and half ago, focuses on the sale, lease, and servicing of luxury boats and cruisers in Nigeria. He signed a partnership deal with Sea Ray Marine, a Knoxville, US-based globally renowned luxury boat and yacht builder with 30 per cent market share. The partnership also gives his company access to genuine parts and accessories produced by Brunswick Marine, makers of Mercury engines. We are determined to change Nigerians’ perception, about boats and yachts. If you check our prices and compare them with what you would find on the sites of operators in other climes, you would be wondering what we are doing. We just want to convince the market that this is real and not for the rich alone. We believe if we do this; it would go a long way to further boost the industry. 5 Likes |

Ade Kassim has had an interesting career as an Oracle Solutions Architect. It is a job that has taken him to Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom. He was even nominated for Consultant of the Year Award for the Australasia region, representing Oracle New Zealand. During his journey to different countries, Ade Kassim (or 'Kass', as he is popularly called) dreamt of lush meandering vines, grape-stained hands, and golden light washing over his own vineyard. Life passed through years of travel, career and family, but the dream remained constant until he bought a vineyard, in Australia. Nestled on the outskirts of Mansfield in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, Kass became custodian of the mature vines, passed on from a man who had planted the seeds, and sown the story. Grape growing is a fine balance between art, science, patience and hard work. To help maintain the symmetry, Kass brought on board, expert viticulturist, Timo to help him create the right blend of wines from his vine. When the grapes were hand-picked, Kass employed the expertise of Ros, an award-winning local winemaker to press the fruit and make the juice Today, his vineyard produces Vitis Botanica, a light refreshing finely crafted wine, without alcohol. | REVIEWS OF THE PRODUCT | cc: Ofemannnu 1 Like

MasterChen: Yorubas have put IT/tech sectors on a lockdown. We are the best in West Africa and arguably the best in Africa. But an average chestbeating Igbo won't understand how building softwares and IT generally are entrepreneurial. In their shallow and unexposed mind, entrepreneurship is about opening a 2x2 shops, importing fake products and suffering themselves by selling gala and lacasera in traffic. Little do the know that the likes of Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Ma etc made their billions through IT 3 Likes |
