No ma, you do not get to judge me on this. We were in a room full of people, all older than me including senior mama's a d the father of the child being fed the ice cream. If None of them saw nothing wrong in feeding a 9month old baby Ice cream, why should i I be the one to say anything? When you are married into a family as large as my hubby's especially being the youngest child's wife, you quickly learn that you don't put your nose/voice opinions about things that has no direct impact or hearing to you. As much as they quarrel, they can all gang up on you so fast it would make your head spin so I have learnt not to be overly involved with them which was why I do not say anything especially as the father of the child being fed was there and he did not see anything wrong with it. talltosyne: 7 Likes |

Spiceeamiee My sister I understand totally how you feel down to the "f". Don't worry ok, your baby will be fine. Some mamas here said prolly she didn't know but really ignorance is no excuse. Right from when my baby was in my belle, I started singing it like a song "don't give my baby anything in his mouth unless I okay it", so I'm known for that. Even though my son is almost 2years old, that rule still applies, sometimes I get tired of responding self but it really saved my life. Please for the sake of peace and also for your own emotional wellbeing, go and apologize but let her know that what she did was very very wrong (apart from it being cold and stuffs, you don't know the condition of where it was prepared, the materials used in preparing it too). Tell her how "her" baby reacted to the ice cream. Refuse to be emotionally blackmailed. Even adults sometimes react to ice cream(atleast I do) not to talk of a 5weeks old baby. Also like one mama said you should have voiced out even if its jokingly that giving that 9months old baby ice cream was wrong, I believe that incident might have been saved. If your culture demands that you kneel down and beg her, please do, if not, abeg don't. Don't overdo it biko. Above all, let her know that what she did was wrong and let her also know that she spreading lies about you isn't good either. Lastly, go with your hubby so that she won't twist what you said again. Marrying into a large family isn't easy, na diplomacy most times dey help me and thank God I have that and sooo much more. Hth . 6 Likes |

eksbabe:My son can't sleep on any other position aside his tummy since he clocked 5weeks, so I make sure the blanket is thickly folded in his bed so he wouldn't drag it to cover his nose as that is the sole cause of the SIDS. Besides if he can turn his head well so he can quickly adjust if he isn't getting enough air, he is gud to sleep on his tummy. |

I feel so sad. my 15weeks old baby has lost weight due to purging. she has been drooling, always trying to put her hand in her mouth, bringing out excessive saliva wit rashes on her cheek. saw the doctor today and she maintains baby is too early to be teething. however my mum and others think these are signs of teething. doc says keep breastfeeding and keep her hydrated. Lo plays well. no fever. but still stools 4x in a day. n o loss of appetite. she feels so light in her hand .how I wish this purging can stop. |

Thank you to all mamas in the house. I have been reading post on the thread since yesterday and I must say, you all have been doing a great job. I have really learnt a lot . My DS will be 6 weeks on Thursday. He is on EBF and OK have been expressing and feeding with bottles at night but 2 days ago, he stopped accepting from the bottle when I feed him. This afternoon, I asked my niece to feed him and it was same rejection. What other method can I use? I will be resuming work in 4 weeks time. CC: Alphamaiden, jaysmama, giddyperson, ahnie, zaynie, akorkor and other mums I can't mention jaysmama: |

ebonyjoke: So sorry about this...but how did u conclude she's purging? Is the poop greenish or do the poop comes heavy ie in large quantity? well, my dd is same weeks as yours, she poops almost after every feeding though in small quantity and the poop is normal( I googled it)...since she plays well and no fever I will prefer u go with doc advice...breastfeed well and keep her hydrated.. I learnt of ors but I don't know if she's too young 4 that.. |

spiceeamiee: TTC or not is no excuse for ANYONE to feed a 5 weeks old baby ice cream. It is totally wrong on all levels. It's a totally stupid thing to do. Not only is the baby exposed to cold/cough from the cold ice cream, the baby is also exposed to diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera..... name it!! You did absolutely nothing wrong by expressing your displeasure. She knows what she did is totally wrong hence the reason why she is making up all the stories. Say NO to any emotional blackmail from her. God forbid anything happens to your baby, does she know she will be labelled a witch and all sorts. Only go to her and apologise when your baby is out of the hospital and given the all clear by the doctor. When you apologise make it known to her that your baby fell ill and had to be hospitalised because of what she did. Do not even mince words about it. I do not understand why people feed other people's children without obtaining consent from the child's parent. I cannot offer anything to a child without obtaining consent from the parent. I expect the same from other parents and that's exactly what other parents do to me. A child can have allergies or all sorts that's only known to the parents. People really need to learn. 15 Likes |

So we are 3months+ already, I thought this should have regulate by now...From all indication I don't see that coming..Mayb until some maamas here provide good solution to my predicament (I pray). The issue is anytime am breastfeeding lo from one side I will just feel one kind of sensation the next thing the other side will start leaking... I can't confidently breastfeed when am on an outing without looking for how I will try and use a bottle or towel to collect from the other side..I do see maamas breastfeeding confidently..They will just flip it out and feed lo..But me I have to arrange something to absorb if not once she put her mouth the next thing I will start having that sensation that leads to leaking... I don't know if its a problem am facing.. Ur solutions is highly welcomed.. tnx |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by hunniesuzie: 8:21pm On Aug 14, 2017 |
This is normal and there's nothing to regulate. You need to use a breast pad to manage leaks. Otherwise light pressure on the non feeding boob with the tip of your finger will stop the flow. But pads are your best option. You can buy the washable ones as they are more cost effective. Mamas you see feeding confidently have a breastpad on that's why myrygurl: 3 Likes |

Thank you mamas for your input to my predicament. I'm sorry if i did I not respond to you personally. I'm beyond ragged out but I appreciate the kind gestures. We went to the hospital this morning and she was admitted. She has been under observation and series of tests has been run which all thankfully came back clear. The number of times she throws up has reduced from every fees to maybe once in 3feeds. She had a slight temperature earlier on but she is back to normal now. My phone has been switched off as the whole of Obinze town in Owerri has been calling me so hubby asked me to switch it off so they can call him. He has told them that we are in the hospital because of this Ice cream issue and when baby is out of the hospital and certified Ok, then we can visit the issue of apology or no apology but for now, anybody that is not calling to ask about the baby's well-being should stay away 12 Likes |

joshipura: 1. Check the tongue for peel....... When u notice the milk dont get whitish at some part of the mouth....... Give vitamin b2 or b12 or tongue pill is d common name for those two mentioned drugs....... 2. Nurse baby in a quiet place with less distraction 3. Express breast milk with breast pump and feed with bottle for larger quantity available to him with less ease 4. Feed baby promptly not after crying for long 5.feed and at same time make eye contact even touching him as if the both of you re communicatng lasting 5. Check on your pediatrician if it persist |

@giddyperson, can I use d bleach for the floor tiles as I don't like the way I met the tiles where we stay...I washed my wall tiles with iron sponge,,,hard sponge and scouring powder...I also rinse with another soft sponge... mama that asked about savlon on baby please discontinue it use... it will do more harm than good. in addition to swallowing risk other mamas has mentioned.. it will start killing the normal microflora the skin needs for defense by the immune system, posing the baby to risk of infection... Infact antibacterial soap and all are discouraged.... to mama that said a nurse told her to lay baby down on tummy as early as that,,, I doubt if the person is a nurse for real or doesn't know what she is saying... the thing my eyes eyaff see for private hospital and hiring of diff people to wear white n be dia nurse ehn, I pity people... it is just a pity for my profession cos this so called Doctors are spoiling it d more all in the name of cheap labor and cutting cost.... Beware and if possible request for ur nurse license.... 2 Likes |

Good evening mamas, how are your LO doing. Please make una help me touch light this mata. My 23 months old hasn't started talking o. He is my first and presently the only. He only says baba for his dad, maa for me, si for six, kiss, and see. He babbles alot also He likes to watch tv a lot which am trying to reduce. He has started school as well. We have gone to have his earing checked and it came out clean, the paediatrician also did an evaluation for Autism. He said he doesn't have it. However he sometimes wouldn't respond to his name when called especially while watching tv. He doesn't always point at things. He loves being around kids, adults have to stay for a while b4 he warms up to you. He is good around familiar faces. He has no issue with eye contact. I have been trying to teach him body parts, he won't respond when I say touch your nose or eyes but he will put my hand his head when I say head. He likes to play ball and climb anything available. He doesn't always sit calmly either, he is always opening this touching that, scattering. he won't get the ball when I say fetch your ball or get your shoes. He understands very little command like come here, sit down, take food, stop it, wave bye, kiss mummy. The doctor said to make him say things before giving him. Like do you want water or milk he will only point at what he wants and if you dont give he just walks away or starts crying. He loves been read to and scrabbling. He is also strong willed, he knows what I mean by kiss mummy but sometime when I say kiss mummy he wil just look at me like what is she talking about. There was a day he was pulling my hands and holding his book which means he wants me to read, I told him say read, he kept on pulling and I kept saying say read, he got tired and left me and kept flipping over pages, I then wanted to read to him he pushed me away. He knows what things are used for, Mama please help how do I get him to start talk. Am sick with worry all kids in his class are talking and potty training with him is difficult. My MIL said not to worry his dad didn't talk till age 2 and till date his dad isn't much of a talker and am not either. In fact his Ped.mention of that factor as well. I have seen two other doctors who think to wait till he is 2 1\2. He never had issues with reaching milestones except for communicating. cc:Zaynie, helovesme,UmmTwins2, AlphaHandMaiden, Onegai, and all the sabi mummys please help. |

coolniks:Mama relax since the doctor has evaluated him and said he is fine. My sisters 2nd kid didn't talk till he was 3 yrs old she was worried just like you but that boy is 11 yrs old now and when he starts talking you will run and he is also top 10 in his scool in terms of academics. Kids develop at different paces just keep conversing with him like normal. 5 Likes |

hernyhorla:Sorry for the late response. The key is persistence you keep trying . At 6 weeks your baby's awareness is increasing and baby is probably just realising there is a difference between br***t and bottle hence the rejection. Where you sitting there when your niece was feeding him? Just hearing your voice or smelling you can cause the rejection as well. My 7 month old who is still breastfeeding does the same, if I get back from work while he is being fed cereal or whatever once he sees me or hears my voice that is the end of the cereal. 4 weeks is still enough time, don't worry it will get better 2 Likes |
