hi guys
i have a friend here in US from Nigeria though, his father is a citizen here in US, he is 28 years of age, he came to US (in my school) with an F1 visa.
what do you think he can do to become get his green card after his education visa expire?

It's either his father petition for him (can take several years) or he looks for his own way (can happen within 1 year). All info and forms are on https://www.uscis.gov/

POE EXPERIENCE! cool

I checked in EGYPT Air (TO JFK) online to make life easy for myself and choose my own Seat for the whole trip.
JFK to Destination (DELTA Airline). GTB Card.(pls take this card to US ohhh )

So i finally got the UBER ride after the third try!! trip to the airport was awesome and cool nice conversation with the UBER driver.
however when we got to MMIA departure, my guys were not allowed to com in embarassed embarassed embarassed i really felt bad.
Passed through their CBP officer/metal Detector/ Bag Scanner. omo those officers there no get chill abeg; i wish Our police officers were that tough.

When to the EGYPTAir Stand and weighed my Luggage. You guest right, they were dam heavy!! i had to buy ghana must go(to reduce the weight) and still tip the guy self to allow me.. (at the end of the day i should have just bought lighter and more flexible Bags with rollers)please don't buy boxes for Yanga OHH... just get something light that you can roll in the Airport.
lesson learnt: if you have alot of load, try to carry four bags 2Check in Bags, a carry on Bag and a School Bag, this combination would help you sort out and over weight issues.dont carry any thing like indomie (Onion;though they never checked it self), kilishi, cellotape, scissors or any perishable in carry On, put them in Check-in Bags (thank me later).

So filled some pointless card and went through Immigration.. they almost seized my KILISHI but i begged like a baby... lol
plus i gave out some cash just to offload m naira notes. but the CBP at the scanner don't smile ohh (don't try tipping self).

EgyptAir make Sense Abeg, nice experience, Decent food too. Egypt Air lodged us at Le Passage Hotel Cairo really cool place, Men plus two meal vouchers for Dinner and Breakfast. omo na buffet OHHHH!! chop and DIE chikena (fear come dey catch me sef). the hotel room fine sef.
EGYPTAIR rocks..my only issue was one spoilt black lady that sat near me spoilt kid.... SMH. and yeah on the 10:55 hrs flight from cairo to JFK you get two meals.... All in All USE EGYPT AIR Abeg if you are on a Budget.... cool

Congrats boss all the best in your career

Since you mentioned that.... Yes, that's one possibility.

Secondly, getting a job during opt that would file H1B that same year is another.

Any more question(s)?

DT is draining immigration swamp and intends to vigorously keep American jobs for American people.

Would you be willing to hand your sister/cousin/in-law/niece to him to break their heart for immigration benefits

Vo- whaats DNA?

Me- De-oxybro-nucleic acid

Vo- what?

Me- *at this stage my tongue has twisted I literally had to force myself to speak* De-oxy-bro-Nucleic acid...had to start spelling..

Vo-looks at the system and says "you"re missing something"

Me: start Spelling again and said de-oxybro-nucleic acid

Vo- sits down now, what are the four proteins that make up DNA

Me- (I went blank...now I did allll my rehearsals but didn't see that coming. I just said to mysef, just say somthing, luckily for me,i remembered one) adenine...

Vo-paused,squeezed face small..said, what?

Me-i said, adenine...paused,(infact I felt the whole room, everybody paused looking at me)
Vo- continue as he was reaching for the white paper

Me: (adipose, ketoses, cytosine) yea, that was what caame to my head...both wrong and right answeers.

And the award of the day goes to....... the incorrect question from the VO and the incorrect answers from BlinkyBling.

The main thing is you got it. Cheers again!

Ok. Thanks for the info. Pls I would like to know if u transferred to a new semester or to the same semester? ( i.e. from spring to spring or spring to fall; or from fall to fall or from fall to spring)

cosade and others already answered your question, so I don't need to add much. However, if you're transferring from one semester to another, you can't stay in U.S for 4 months doing nothing without violating your visa rules. Best!

My appointment was for 8:30 appointment I was in a happy mood all through, I got their around 7:45 and I was happy inside me because I could feel it am leaving here with my visa despite HV had several attempts one thing I always have in mind denial is not a failure but rather a way to restrategise and learn from your misatke.
Vo: she kept on typing and brought out a white paper and picked up her pen she was just looking down the white paper to circle the pick up location ( na so she pause for over 8 seconds ) and drop the pen then wipe every good thing she has written And told me that she is sorry that she is sorry I should re-apply.
this is the closest I have ever had and it lost right away IN a nanosecond, immediately I saw that white at first I was thanking God for perfecting everything already and feel so happy. Right now I feel bad I did the needful red, prayed, fasted and gave needy money so that God favour can fall upon me too

Bro, i really understand how this feels like, i know it's so..so painful and i really feel for you but however, only God knows why the vo change her mind and why it happened that way. just clean your self up and pretend like nothing happened, May God grant you favour in your next interview..Amen

I know your likes. When you see a meal ticket that will cement your stay here you grab it like a skunk

Since Your encyclopedia self is a mind reader; what possibility and context could you be referring to? Giving him an option of finding "his way" outside his best option(his dad) is preposterous, sneaky and hypocritical knowing that H1B visa was suspended by USCIS this year and an executive order proposing reforms signed by the President.

Why did you not go the H1B when you first got here on your student visa ?

When people deliberately ask people to go and marry for immigration purposes is evil and should be condemned.

I don't need any mind reading skills, it's common sense. He's still in school and hasn't done opt yet. If H1B is suspended for reform purpose, were you told H1B is totally cancelled? Unless you have serious comprehension issues, I don't see where saying finding his way means asking him to do dubious things. If his dad's filing will take a long time and as a student who is already in the US, there is possibility for him to get a job and one that can file for him.... this is my point.

AfonjaBoston:

Don't be disappointed. I don't need H1B because I'm currently fulfilling my purpose of coming to US which is to study.

I don't see where I said this but out of your egocentric ITK mind, you insinuated marriage as one of the ways of getting stay and I answered you.

The problem with you is that you think you can just hop in here any time and start trampling on everyone and shoving your opinions down every throat. Since you've jumped into this thread, you haven't contributed positively to anyone, instead you continue to harass the new comers and simultaneously disrespecting yourself. This thread is for students only, not for egocentric and myopic people who think they can only come here to boast of their sorry lives. If all you've learned since the years you said you've been living in US haven't influenced your behavior positively.... you must have had a really bad experience in the past. You need to learn to be of moral standard to the new ones.

Boss imperiouxx, You have said it all at bold and you are much more educated and bigger than that infant, you don't need to bring your self down to his level. there are so many ways to know if one is educated even without seeing that person. their style of communication alone and the way they present them selves in public/forum will tell you how educated or expose that person is. it's not all about living in america with whatever status as they claim but being able to speak knowledge any time they open their mouth is what really matters. so Boss, don't bring your self too low to his level. we all know the noise makers on these thread and those who come here to waste their time quoting everyone with trash.

lol. Mr. Oversabi, I could have come here and told everybody how smart I was by getting all the answers correctly but do you know why I didn't?
So fellow nairalanders will know it's God's grace that grants favour not by our effort.

If you read the transcript very well, what transpired is clearly stated as it happened, likewise my blunders and all, so it's not as if you shot a hole or made a new discovery. Don't understand your point reallly.

By the way, I got two of the proteins you crossed out, so I don't really understand the point you"re trying to make here.
You simply just shot yourself on the foot as you don't also know the correct answers even though you had access to Google which I didn't.
Plus there are lots of other reasons or factors that might have made me get it a little bit twisted. I was preparing and had my mind set on visa interview questions not the academic aspect so it threw me off balance.

Not trying to justify anything though but also know what I am capable of academically.
Finally, which area you dey for US sef, make I track you, so you"ll show me around if it's convenient for you o... smiley smiley

Hmm, if your school is requesting a transcript evaluation, why not ask them if it is suitable to use these. As far as I know, WES, IERF, and ECE are the most common ones.
