there was a trial irrespective of how short, a trial by combat which the tarly's lost, and a hearing to determine either punishment or absolution at a cost in which the defendants were allowed to make a choice, needless to say they made their choices as against cersei's hostile takeover so there's no comparison between the two scenarios
