TayserMahiri:
The paradox of Kenyan long distance success.

Kenya's athletic dominance is one of the most fascinating topics in exercise performance physiology. The country has dominated international Middle and Long-Distance running for over 40 years, so far boasting a staggering 18 World Records, from middle distances to the marathons, many won with meritorious ease. In fact, what’s happened to Kenya in the last half-century since winning independence has been kind of a Gold Rush, the sort of which many countries can only dream of. So why the incredible success?

Research has revealed that during periods of maximum physical effort, Kenyan runners are able to maintain their Brain Oxygenation within a stable range, which contributes to their success in long-distance races. Our blood carries oxygen to our brain and the oxygen is vital to the brain's growth - and healing. Oxygenating the brain well is essential for brain healing (and use) in strenuous activities, like running. When cerebral oxygenation in the brain's prefrontal lobule falls, the neural activity in this zone also drops. This zone is closely linked to the control of movement and to decision-making, both of which are crucial when running. On the contrary, European athletes suffer a drop in neuronal activity due to a reduction in cerebral oxygenation, hence suffering a drop in performance.

It turns out that Kenyan track athletes have a series of genetic codes which give them an extraordinary capacity to burn oxygen efficiently

Don't blame us for always being up there, nature conspired to have us there!

grin

As a long time jogger of 20 years I can confirm this is true! I was in Nyahururu some years back just before the 2012 Olympics and a buddy of mine,a casual runner, btw could do a -24 mn 8k. Which means a speed of under 3mns per kilometre-without any training, just a 21 year old dude! Fyi,that's the Kenyan Olympic qualifying time. A number of casual runners, school kids actually had a similar running talent.

Govt debt as share of GDP

Egypt: 85%
DR Congo: 83%
Kenya: 55%
South Africa: 52%
Sudan: 47%
Tanzania: 39%
Ethiopia: 32%
Nigeria: 18%

- SpectatorIndex

We've explained 2 things repeatedly:
-the debt went into development, specifically the infrastructure pics you've seen here many times
-our GDP is growing rapidly so the ratio falls which allows for greater debt

We also quoted your guys telling Buhari nobody would lend you development loans.
