You can start a very good sustainable business with N6.6m not to talk of N7.3m and buy a good used car for N900,000 from it.

Think of your future before spending this much on a car.

even if I want to waste 7.3mill. I will go and waste it on a trashy hatchback abi.

The Nigerian govt increased import duties because of shitty local brands (govt officials don't use these brands) like these. Yet the local brands are selling this PIECE OF SHIT for 7.3million what the Bleep??

This thing doesn't come close to a kia rio angry

Here's "patriotic" murray bruce driving an electric kia

www.nairaland.com/attachments/2375231_2_jpegea571676ce9b75b0730a5d56350ae93e

This is just a piece of metal, no designs to entice youths or anything.

No celebrity brand ambassadors.

Barely any advertisements.

No public safety tests & Results

I'm not going to buy a moving box on four tires for 7.3m

This is a clone of the hyundai i20 which goes for around 4m brand new, Don't know about import duties:

The hyundai

The innoson

They will be here soon to call critics "Afonjas" for not wanting to buy this box.

see now.

You think buying new cars come cheap. The spirit of Tokunbo and kabukabu will not kill us in Nigeria. Europe flood Nigeria with scraps and cars that have been banned on roads and we buy it here and flaunt it.
I will post pictures of second hand cars that are road worthy just close by. Then you will understand.

Sir, are you saying the Fox is in the class of either the VW or BMW you just put up? Why not compare like for like? The point is that they need to be realistic and price the product with the current situation in view. What's wrong with creating a budget car with 3 trim levels at ₦5m Max and offering it via a financing scheme? I think even PAN has similarly priced options and they are not yet being besieged by orders. That alone should signal that a change of strategy is needed. Finally, I think people would buy but as long as the brand is continuously priced similarly to established international brands, it's going to be a hard sell.

Auto manufacturing is a volume business, I have never seen a TV or newspaper advert for Innoson, Whenever any Gov is publicizing cars that they bought (e.g for police), they are never innoson.

4 things need to happen or else Innoson may be dead in 5 years

1) They need volume patronage from govt agencies (I am talking of thousands)

2) advertising campaign for retail customers

3) better design

4) financing scheme

Ive said it before, only in Nigeria do you have a manufacturing plant that can provide thousands of jobs in your state and you are buying Toyota that does not even have an authorised service centre in your state. You cannot go to America and see a govt vehicle that is manufactured outside America

We once did a report on these points you itemised, they nearly ask for my head. If I were to be an Innoson rep, now is the time to take biro and jotter and start taking note of what people are saying. This is not about hate or tribalism, this is about getting it right. Yes, I salute their doggedness, there are some information I was privy to that we can't put in public domain, but never the less, Innoson needs to take to corrections, all these attacks on people who adviced you wont help you.

God bless Innoson, God bless Nigeria

You want them to run at a loss? They have to make profits. At the moment, they don't enjoy subsidies from the government and economy of scales are not in their favour given the industrial and economic realities in Nigeria. You think they just wishfully place any price on the cars?
Financial schemes, I support. Which means they will have to work with financial institutions too.
See, doing business in Nigeria at this grand scale is very tedious. I'm sure innoson is doing their best, it will only get better. Remember MTN, ECONET wireless of those days?

My problem with Nigerians is that they lack patriotism, all of you that are busy condemning this hardworking man's effort cannot produce a common car seat belt and your lazy brains will not allow you to appreciate someone's efforts. if Indians had the same notion with you guys on their first generation of automobile products they wouldn't have been where they are today.

With less than that i don buy a "clean" and "neat" tokunbo wey dey gidigba.

This is why some don't get motivated to buy Nigerian made. It is as expensive as 'better' ( wink ) foreign substitudes. So why should I go for an "untested" product when there are good quality ones at even cheaper prices? Why?

You must be a kid to comment like this otherwise u shud knw that cost of manufacturing things in nigeria is far higher reason why peeps with the know how find it cheaper to import new stuff than manufacture same in nigeria.
there is no need to be insultive, I fully know the cost of doing business in Nigeria, there are far better of responding to comments that you don't agree with.
In any case, except the materials used are gotten locally, the cost will be quite high, but really I have looked for a way to get one of them to buy but I don't seem to see any showroom displaying the cars anywhere, maybe in east though.

That's €18,250 euros equivalent. Okay, I will go past a second hand car dealership 'shop' in a few hours and show you the price of second hand cars in Germany, I will quote you, then you come back and tell me how expensive the new innoson car is.
You know our problem in Nigeria? We are used to purchasing beat down cars that are not road worthy in Europe. Most of those cars you buy as 'Belgium' are actually mostly abandoned cars that are not legally roadworthy or meant for scraps!!!!
fine, but how many people can afford 18k euros going by our Nigerian standards for a new car, in Germany, there are lots of fairly used cars that are still in top shape that would still go for this amount. I have bought a Mazda from Austria from way back in 2008 and I still drive it till this morning, I have never changed the engine or done anything major till now.
You simply need to do your homework well and you won't end up buying a scrap car.
