When you underestimate education, you will produce working-class that will do poorly in application. Thus, they beg. And the world despise them for the disgrace self-inflicted. It all has a solution with EDUCATION.
: ASUU Strike: Prostitution Will Increase Among Female Students– Sex Workers To FG by willahpih(m): 11:47am
You see! A proustite is ,now, an adviser to the FG. But must the government be told before they know this. How can a country like Nigeria, that aspires to develop like other developed countries of the world, lay less emphasis on the education sector. Yes, I know what I'm saying. Nigeria puts government first in the list of national priority before education. Nigeria, I refer to here, should be taken as the constitution. Yes, our constitution gives higher priority to the government than education; ignoring or unobservant that it is education that man the government. Bad education breeds bad governance. So, it is obvious why we have poor governance in Nigeria. Just imagine how big our nation is, be it population or landmass, and then imagine how much we have spent on average as per education. Do the same imagination for government. Then, compare the two. What is your result?! You will see that education has little weight than government in Nigeria. Thus, we conclude , we have bad education. And from the implication, we have bad government. So for Nigeria to prosper, it has to learn how to spend and work more for education sector above all. Because once you have good education sector, you must definitely have good government by implication. Where is a country, whose students should be in school but are caused to proustite due to no activity brought about by the government in the sector, going? Things are in shambles here. We are trading our future by all this misappropriation, looting, e.t.c.. I pray for a better one Nigeria. Amen.

It isn't 'free as air' - you are either confused or lying.

It's a pound. If you don't have a pound you can't get a trolley.

How much did you pay @ Stanstead ?
Sometimes it is good for us to speak of what we know . It is FREE as air in Stanstead . I have been fru that airport uncountable times .

It a pound you put in and out as you take and drop the trolley.... was at Gatwick yesterday and still the same process

Although that means technically it is free as you get your money back

Truth is it is the attitude of the everyday Nigerian to grab and grab that transcends to the stashing abroad. Nigerians still dont get it.When you chamge your mindset where money is god then all that looting and stashing will stop
exactly, I was forced to think poverty is the reason but truly it is not. There are poor people with integrity. I don't know how this mindset started seriously. We have a serious social problem.

Too much begging at MMIA. Someone would just hold a door for you and start begging for money, wtf. And yes they search your bags with bare hands, something that isn't done any where else in the world.

Trolleys aren't free at the Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, nor at the DTW Airport in Michigan. I think most airports charge. They even have machines you pay with a credit card or cash into to get a trolley.

They're free in many countries, especially in the Gulf countries.

Sadly, 99.9% of Nigerians are corrupt, the International airport is just another reflection of this. No news here, just another tale of woe.

One thing I noticed here though, we are having a debate about the rampant and brazen corruption in our International airports, but a bunch of jokers are having a separate mundane discussion about airport trolleys. These days, it's hard to see a topic worth an intellectual debate on Nairaland, there will always be certain persons derailing it in an inglorious attempt to show off pettiness.

Have you been to the Murtala Muhammad international Airport lately?

It is the most crowded Airport in my experiences, the prying eyes and busybodies waiting to latch on to your purse forcefully by all gimmicks

They beggarly initiate all method of trickery to collect bribe from travelers

The lack of CCTV surveillance camera is one major reason the attending offices are the more brazen,

they practically beg for money and threaten you if you refuse to grease their corrupt palms

You wonder why Government workers are so bold to Beg for money in an international airport

They search your Bags with bare hands and look for what is not lost, whereas other countries of the world would pass your bags through a search machine to spot items not fit for travel

Nigerian Airport workers practically search your bag in attempts to find anything for which they can collect bribe from you even your underwaer

I am just wondering, Any Nairalander who have experienced this brazen thievery by employed and unemployed loiters at the Airport

The Nigerian government is pretending and acting as if bribe does not happen at the airport Or else, something should have been done to stem this shameful acts of international embarrassment

what is your story at the airport ?
Hahahaha. That's the change we voted for!!!! The VP some months back sacked the former MD of the airport and till date nothing has really changed. This is to tell you that the government has never been interested in securing lives and property. How much will it cost the government to set up a CCTV?

Your grasp of English is poor.

'Free as in air' would entail no payment at all, at any point i.e. the system used at many other airports. A deposit is not 'free'. It's especially irritating when you're flying in from a country where you use Euros and thus have no pound coins on you.

I have to login after a long while due to the seriousness of this matter. I have been viewing threads as a guest. It is very shameful that in our international airports such happen. Two weeks ago I traveled and returned from Singapore through Aminu Kano Intl Airport. I was to go from Abuja but resorted to Kano because I couldn't get a seat on Ethiopian via Abuja. what I experienced on my arrival at the airport was not only demeaning but disgraceful for a country that prides itself as the giant in Africa. The Custom officials in their manner less and untrained dispositions striped my baggage with bare hands flying my personal effects left right and center. one lady was busy admiring some stuffs I bought as gift items for friends. imagine that! I had to shout at them angrily to the extent that their oga called me out trying to apologize. That was after I had identified myself as a federal employee who was coming from an international training. It was so embarrassing considering the extent nations had advanced in their immigration operandi. At Singapore, I was cleared without speaking to anyone on departure. The process was fully automated. slot in your passport and imprint your tumb for biometric capturing and the passage is cleared for you. I have been to many international airports abroad but I have never seen such disdainful practice.

There are many international airports where you don't pay for trolleys. Let me cite India which closer to us in the development index of nations. At the Indira Ghandi international airport, you don't pay for trolleys. There are many more examples.
