...last time I remembered boys scout,my church brigade, HALOGEN security and other private security guards are not constituted authority recognized by law. Granted?

Boys Scouts is recognized in the constitution in not only Nigeria but over 80 countries

Your church is a registered religious organization and recognised by the law

Halogen security is registered by the CAC as a coporate company, and by the DSS as a security outfit sanctioned by the office of the NSA same as other private security companies.

Now please bring better points

Sharia is in the constitution of those states so yes it is legal.

The same way your governor can send a bill for setting up "neighborhood watch" to your state house of assembly and it becomes legal for the officials of that organization to operate.

Please read your own constitution.

...Mynd44 don't be too over smart. You refused to comment on the one I quoted you directly because I guess I held you spell bound hence I baith you with this and you got trapped immediately. See Mynd44, nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so. Whether it's BSS, HISBAH, OPC or what have you. It's only the Supreme Court of the land that can adjudicate, interprete or otherwise of the illegality or legality of the aforementioned.

How can police declare group illegal. Do police have constitutional power to declare any group illegal?

Especially a group the Federal Courts of Nigeria have already declared legal? http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/kanu-ipob-not-unlawful-group-court/

Just something to think about.

Do you think I will succeed if I take up a state like Kano to court to bar them from receving proceeds of VAT from NBL, Guinness and other breweries, as their HISBAH police destroy trucks of drinks in their state? You guys have been living off cheating other people in the federation...This is the reason there is agitation everywhere...

You will only succeed if the said companies stop selling malt and soft drinks (which is heavily consumed) in the state. But for now, you have no case.

A state has the right to choose its laws. You dont like it? Go argue with the supreme court.

It is not a matter of good and evil, it is a matter of the law.

Live with it

Not when it concerns security and not when it directly contradicts the constitution of a country. Especially in a country that is immensely divided along tribal lines. I just do not understand why Nigerians don't know that they are playing with fire. Smh.

2) Yes they are also illegal, The constitution only allows for the federal police. Just because nobody has challenged it doesn't mean it is right.
He is a moderator and that should make him educate people like you who know less about their constitution. The problem we have is that we always want to be bias and sentimental about everything. There are laid down guidelines, rules and regulations that pertain setting up a security outfit, and if the BSS have in anyway failed to adhere to the rules, they are illegal and should be brought down.

Each state can set their own penal code.

In Lagos, Kidnapping is punishable by death. In Ogun, it is a different case.

If in the North, they decide to adopt a law making Fornication a sin, I dont like it but if their assembly passes it, then it stands.

The only problem will be if the National Assembly has allowed it and they want to disallow it

Every state can set their own penal code but not the security agencies entrusted with enforcing the law. There is a difference. The topic is not about laws or penal codes but the enforcement of it.

That is a fact I don't contend with, but as far as the case of the BSS is concerned, and for the period that the states where Biafrans lay claim to are within Nigeria's territory, you can only argue with the Constitution and not here, better still seek a superior critical judgement from the Supreme Court.

In Scotland the only people that voted in referendum are those requesting right to self determination.

The rest of UK did not vote with the scots.

Scotland is a country, a self governoring entity with its own constitution and National representatives...Also, UK is not a country, it is a mere union of countries to which Scotland is a member.

UK has no say in determining or voting in a referendum that affects the decision whether Scotland remains in UK as much as the other African Countries has no say in a vote or referendum that affects if Nigeria remains in AU or not.

What then is the difference between those forces you mentioned above and the one labeled illegal?
The difference is that, KAI, LSNW and other para military outfits are recognized under the Lagos state law likewise Hisbah is recognised under Kano state state law. Further, in Anambra presently we have AVG ( Anambra state Vigilante Group) which is equally recognised by Anambra state law. Anambra presently finances them. I have seen many of their Hilux cars. The only problem with the one presently runs by Nnamdi in Abia state is that, it lacks any state or federal backing/ approval hence, it remains an illegal outfit.

There are officials in the U.S who are employed to give out parking tickets. The states are allowed to enact laws that make their activities legit. They are in no way confused with actual policemen who are tasked with safeguarding lives and property. Again, there is a difference.
