The case isn’t always with passing jamb; it is in passing the post UME exam designed by the University of your Choice. Now, this is a guide on how to pass Post UTME exam/Screening test in any university of your choice hassle free.

1. GO THROUGH THE EXAM SYLLABLES: Most students don’t read until the exam is fast approaching before they start cracking the hard kernel, you are not helping yourself. Waiting till two months to examination is an announced failure, no offence though. There are people who will start studying two weeks to exams and make it but please don’t try it; you may be surprised it doesn’t work out for you that way.
Besides, topics in the syllables are usually much and you need to go through them thoroughly to assimilate them bit by bit. Except you are an immediate high school lever, you know your brain is still fresh but if you’ve been home for a year or two, you need to go through the syllables, studying all the topics at least two to three times before the examination date. Do that when you still have time. Waiting till exams date is fast approaching puts you in a hurry, you won’t be able to concentrate on a particular topic and you’ll want to jump to the next because there is no time.

2. GET PAST QUESTIONS : It is quintessential of a visionary student that you dig in and get a compiled copy of the university’s past question and answers. This is very important as it helps to widen your thinking faculty, exposing the scope and procedure by which examinations are set and how to answer the questions without getting confused by the technicality of the question and the way they are being set.
This is also essential as past questions is usually like an expo helping you understand the angle from which questions might come from, though some questions are usually repeated, it is important to read all through noting vital points. You can get the past questions downloaded into your phones as these days, paper copies are fast diminishing but you can still go for it if you wish to.

3. KNOW THE SCHOOL’S CUT OFF MARK: Before you even apply for post UME, you should make sure your score marches or is above the university’s cut off mark before you apply. Some universities’ cut off mark is usually 200 like UNN, UI and other institutions while others are from 180. You need to be sure with your score; you can apply for post UME and stand a chance of gaining admission.
If you are not sure, you are advised to get a change of course/institution form before the deadline. Have handful knowledge about the school so you know what you’ll expect to see and won’t be frightened when you do.

4. APPLY FOR POST UME/PRE ADMISSION SCREENING : When applying, keep your options clear and focused on what you want and go for it. Get to know the venue for your exam/screening and keep your examination date at the back of your mind or on a special journal so you don’t forget because if you miss your date, that is immediate failure, no turning back.

5. ON YOUR EXAM DATE : You are advised to arrive early on your screening date. If you live far from the exam town, you are expected to arrive your exam town before the date, lodge somewhere safe and prepare for the exam. When you arrive early, it’ll grant you time to locate your hall and get settled.

6. FOCUS ON THE EXAM : In the examination hall, make it your business to focus, disregard any thing that may distract you. Do not be involved in malpractice because if the caught, the consequence will be awful. Be thorough and read the questions repeatedly understanding each before answering and don’t be in a haste to submit, go through your work again to correct the errors before submitting.

If You are an aspirant and you are unsure about an Institution with the most transparent admission exercise....UI is the answer!


UI in its PostUTME does not dignify or give preference to candidates because of their UTME percentage..All you need to be qualified to sit for UI's PostUTME is getting 200 or above in UTME.

UI places all candidates on an equal level of playground..A candidate with 201 might get MBBS while a candidate with 321 in UTME will not get...Why??...Your PostUTME score only will be used in weighing your admission chances.

If a Candidate with 200 gets a higher score in the PostUTME than that of a candidate with 321..then the former will be considered for admission ahead of the latter.

All of you with 200..201..up to 220...Your score can fetch you your dream course in UI.

Its only in Nigeria you will have to pass through 3 examination hurdles to get admission in a university.

I am disappointed that you spelt Syllabus as Syllables several times.

What happened to the newly adopted method used last year? are they trying to insinuate that JAMB examination isn't credible enough? inspite of the CBT method being used which immensely lower examination malpractice

It was obviously a failed experiment. We warned them but they won't listen and now, they've realised. But the only thing is that the price should be strictly regulated and jamb officials should moderate those exams.

If u are invited to UI postUTME & u are an average student the likelihood of being admitted is very high. UI don't just call on anyone just because u score above 200. Each dept has her cut off mark which is determined by d % above. When u are invited to postUTME in UI there is very high % that u will be admitted except u are a DUDDY.

It is worrisome to get admitted into the university system all becos our student concentrate mainly on how to jump barriers of examination by cheating and invention of new malpractices processes....Therefore it is advisable for Government to create other alternatives that may involve creation of standard Technical and Innovative schoool for the benefit of those who will drop out as soon as they got admited through dubious ways...

What are doing going to sit for an exam if u are not prepared for it?? U shld change ur heading to how to prepare for exams because those are basic tips for anyone sitting for any exams..
By d way Applying for an Aptitude test and Arriving early doesn't guarantee u or anyone high score in d exams...

Sure,ui did use that method but now,the method has been scrapped off.

2014
2015 sects were admitted purely by their post ume scores using jamb score to determine cutoff or benchmark for Ui post ume(200 in jamb).
They didn't use the method last year because FG scrapped off post ume last year but the probability of them reverting to their old method (post ume) is high since the ban on post ume has been lifted.
