South West leaders met in Lagos on Sunday to unfold plans for an upcoming Yoruba “Grand Rally on Restructuring”. Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the Chairman, Organising Committee for the Rally, Dr Kunle Olajide, said that the rally, scheduled to hold in Ibadan on Sept. 7, would be a one-agenda-congress on restructuring.

“This endeavour has to do with Nigeria and the aim is for a united Nigeria. “The all-inclusive summit of the Yoruba people will have more than 100 Yoruba groups that will declare their stand on the need to restructure Nigeria. “Yoruba leaders at home and abroad and organised groups, students, artisans, past and current elected public officials across the political spectrum will be converging in Ibadan to appraise the issue of restructuring and fashion out a workable way out of the quagmire the country is presently in,” he said.

The meeting, which held at the Protea Hotel, Ikeja, saw key leaders from the zone, such as Pa Reuben Afosoranti, Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Amos Akingba in attendance. Also at the meeting were Chief Supo Sonibare (Afenifere Chairman, Lagos), Mr Yinka Odumakin (Afenifere Spokesman), and Prof. Banji Akintoye, among many others. Olajide said that although the South West governors and all Yoruba would be at the meeting, the gathering would be a non-political one. According to him, Nigeria is drifting dangerously and there is need for those at the helm of affairs to listen to the yearnings of the people and do the needful to maintain unity and peace.

“We are meeting to take a crucial decision on Nigeria. We are going through a very difficult phase. “So patriots have to rise up and find lasting solutions to the difficulties we are experiencing,” he added. Olajide further said that legal luminary, Chief Afe Babalola, would chair and direct the rally. The rally would be coming a few weeks after the Nigerian Senate voted against amending the 1999 constitution to accommodate restructuring that would devolve more powers to the states. NAN

Ewedu rally. THis mofos should know that nobody will take restructuring seriously until all ethnic nationality demands for dissolution of the country, that is when the political elites will be begging for restructuring, few years after Kanu's IPOB, restructuring has gained momentum more than yorubas restructuring mantra for donkey years

Piggy. The only difference between Ipob restructuring and Yoruba restructuring is that they came in two different eras. There was no social media to publicize things when Yorubas were very serious about restructuring *We still are* . Nothing is gaining momentum. You jesters are just constituting nuisance all over the place and getting your lives wasted by Nigerian police grin cheesy When Jona was in power, we had many groups clamoring for restructuring. This is heartening. Restructuring is the way forward.
It's long overdue but not too late.
Let's solicit the support of all and sundry, regardless of tribe to make this a success.

May thunder fire whoever tries to politicize this.

Lol, IPOB is not for restructuring, they are for secession and that is why restructuring seem to be in the front burner, yoruba restructuring matra is of no impact since 900BC, and recently, it was killed for the expansion of Tinubu political empire which hit the rocks

And how much success have you had with your secession agitations other than getting your lives wasted by Nigerian police. Like I said, restructuring has always been in the front burner. Even Apc lied that they were going to restructure, only to switch positions when they got in. Ipob or no ipob Nigeria at some point will end up being restructured. It's usually those out of power that shout restructuring. That's why we haven't gotten it yet. Because the motives are always insincere

Kid....I will be magnanimous enough to give you a hint on that development.......The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) laid siege in 2000 and 2001 on Ilorin in an attempt to invade the city to terminate the emirate system and reestablish a Yoruba kingdom, and install a Yoruba monarch as Olu of Ilorin from the Afonjas of Ilorin.
The OPC claimed that the installation of the Yoruba king was not negotiable as the city was established by the Yoruba, and the Yoruba constitute about 95 percent of the city's population.

Should I educate you more on that cool cool

Thanks for that story. It was always going to be difficult since the people themselves seem to be comfortable with their situation. Now tell us anything positive that has ever come out of a yigboe driven initiative before I start telling you about all your fruitless initiatives.
