@Mr...Historian, kindly look into this. This so called "lifting of ban" hasn't bn made official. If this news were to genuine, other media outlet should av reported likewise
. This same Guardian newspaper said dt universities could conduct post utme in 2016/2017 admission with a uniform charge of #2500. I await Ur response sir
1)The news was not only reported on Guardian,It was reported across all media outlets.

* http://thenationonlineng.net/fed-govt-gives-varsities-nod-conduct-post-utme/

2)Minister of Education is the authoritative force and icon in the educational sector as at today.Anything he says during an interview is veracious and accurate.MoreSo,the decision wasn't made during the interview..there must have been some preceded actions.

3)You remember that there was speculations about the resuscitation of PostUTME about 3-4 weeks ago??...The Interview with him was meant for him to make the final VERDICT as regards the issue.

Hello everyone, this confusion about post utme or no post utme shouldn't arise really.

Go back to your books and start preparing on time. So that If post utme eventually holds you'd be fine and if there isn't also fine.

Also, those that want to change to UI because of this recent development that is not yet official, be wise I must say. Remember there was a time UI used to invite students for post utme after calculating their weighted score using jamb and waec. What if they decide to use that method now just to reduce and screen out the population? BE WISE

That said, thanks mr..historian for the email.
The PostUTME news has been ascertained. The just concluded Education sector stakeholders meeting gives credence to that.

With the current financial incapability of institutions in Nigeria.I opine that all aspirants with 200 and above will be invited for UI's PostUTME.Afterall, they will pay for this exam they are sitting for and consequently the funds to be generated will rise.

My Advice for aspirants is to weigh their cognitive ability before applying for a course.I wouldn't expect a candidate with 220 or less to apply for MBBS unless he/she encountered some unforeseen difficulties while or before the UTME.Reason being that a Candidate who is unable to score a total of 220 in UTME might find it difficult to comfortably pass UI's PostUTME because it is more of an advanced and more technical UTME.

Also,My fear is that..Aspirants should pick a course they are very sure their PostUTME marks will fetch them and not hope for a COC or the chant of "I will be given a lesser course" after PostUTME.Gone are the days when courses of less lucrativeness(as perceived by Nigerians) have very little or no aspirants.

There might be practically no spaces left for aspirants who are 1 or 2 marks lower than than their initial choice of course...Why??...The lesser courses might have been filled up by smart candidates with lesser scores but have applied directly for the course before PostUTME.

And for the mail...You are welcome! wink

A cross-section of candidates writing the 2017 JAMB and UTME computer based examination at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Pro-metrics Centre, in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State on Saturday (13/5/17). 02637/13/5/2017/Idowu Gabriel/HB/NAN
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, which began a meeting on Monday, is expected to formally announce a new holistic policy on Tuesday when the body is expected to conclude its ongoing deliberation.

The meeting, which involves admission officers of Nigerian tertiary institutions, is taking place at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja.

Issues discussed at the meeting include the introduction of Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) to ensure quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

An attendee at Monday’s meeting explained that the new policy is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.’

These institutions will write to JAMB to request for the students and also give them (students) three days to respond. Also, only three universities can request for a candidate if the policy is adopted.

The new policy is also expected to allow institutions in Nigeria peg their cut off point after meeting with their respective senates.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the new policy will also give the academic board or senate of an institution the power to ‘allocate percentages to JAMB, the school and O’level results as these will be calculated to get the students’ cut off marks for post-UTME.’

It was also learnt that JAMB wants to ensure there is a unified time for closing admission in all universities.

If the policy sails through, there will be a portal for admission which will be based on cut off points, quota system and catchment areas.

“The new system is such that institutions can only admit those who meet their cut off points,” an admission officer for a tertiary institution who was at the meeting told PREMIUM TIMRS. “If a candidate does not meet the cut off, no matter whom he or she knows, such person cannot be admitted.”

The official said the system was demonstrated to all the attendees at Monday’s meeting, most of whom expressed satisfaction with it.

Also, the policy intends to make provisions for candidates to accept and reject any admission being offered to them.

The intended policy also looks out for candidates who are unable to go for National Youth Service, NYSC, because they do not have JAMB admission letters. This set of students could be asked to pay a fee, about N10,000 for regularisation and would be able to go for the youth service.

JAMB is expected to formally brief journalists on these new policies on Tuesday afternoon.

Hey guys, with what I say on premium time news, it seems waec and jamb calculations still plays a role in this because it said it might be what will qualify you to sit for a post utme that is if your school conducts one. Yes the possibility to writing post utme is on a 99%, but it seems to do that, we would to need an o level and jamb combined grading to do so. Well not sure yet but it says we should wait for Tuesday afternoon for any authentic news. Sha be it any outcome, I pray it all favor us.
